Good point, views come and go. I used to be incredibly racist, but thhen i met a few blacks who were very nice individuals (the majority is still terrible) and i have changed my mind, because these individuals proved me wrong, and i met the nicest girl and she was of mixed race aswell so what does that tell you- not all blacks are bad.

The only way I could lose any more respect from you would be if you turned out to be either a fundamentalist, holocaust denier or both. Democracy would have helped Germany but for the following factors:

1. Germany had no experience as a democracy. It went straight from being a monarchy to a democracy at a time that coincided with huge war reparations and international humilliation. The system never really stood a chance.

2. The Treaty of Versailles. A dangerous compromise that thoroughly angered the country yet did not completely destroy it. No more really needs to be said about this, but one could go on for pages.

3. The rise of communism in Russia and fascism in Italy. People were incredibly worried by the former and saw the latter as the best means of prevention.

4. proportional representation made it very easy for fringe parties to gain large amounts of power rapidly.

5. People needed a scapegoat. The Jews made a good one, they were a small ethnicity in Germany, yet due to the importance their culture placed on academics made up a very large proportion of Germany's doctors, lawyers e.t.c. The Weimar republic wouldn't provide such a scapegoat. Hitler did.

6. The great depression. made an atrocious situation unbareable. hyper-inflation took effect.

I don't know what part of England you're from but there are plenty of openly gay people, particularly in places like Manchester. I can assure you that high school is not a representative of the outside world.

And religion is a moot point in this topic, in my opinion. The Catholic church used to forbid things like eating meat on Fridays, divorce (although there are still some rules against it), witchcraft and if I remember correctly gossiping used to be a sin. If they can change what is right and wrong like that then their opinions on homosexuality is bound to change within the next decade or two.

The idea that homosexuals should be denied marriage is stupid. If two consenting adults truely love each other then they have as much right to marry as the next person. 1 in 5 marriages between hetrosexuals ends in divorce, which hardly shows that it works well for straight people.

i never said that. but my main point I was trying to get across (but admitedly failed) was that gay people should be able to marry someone they can share their whole lives in happiness, and not feel like second class citizens.

Why should gay parades not exist? Seriously, dude they have been (and still are) extremely mistreated, so they are coming out and uniting and displaying that they are what they are, and what they are is normal. They are teachers, lawyers, priests, doctors, professors.....They are in every community, and they want you to see them.

I'm not gay but I really want to take part in gay parades and I might join the LGT and friends club at school or something.... It really annoys me how poorly they are treated by citizens and congress.

There is no reason gay marriage should be illegal, not matter what any of you think. It's just wrong to think otherwise. It's not even a matter of opinion, it is FACT.

Nobody is being "given" any such thing. Someone has to go out, gather support, and organize these parades in order for them to happen. The problem is that most people can't be bothered to do all that.
