[QUOTE="Taalon"][QUOTE="jimmygrace"][QUOTE="Taalon"][QUOTE="jimmygrace"][QUOTE="Taalon"][QUOTE="hazuki"]Emo's have given otheres a bad name. People like myself love to dress in black. Everybody can agree, that sometimes or always dressing in black can be cool. Though with emos in the world, most people that see you in black automatically think you're an emo. I've always got people thinking I'm dracula or a sad emo. I'm neither *though, being dracula isn't so bad*.
What makes me really mad to the point of blowing up, is emo music. Typical rock for today, is basically music that sounds like fall out boy. At the end of transformers, I hear emo music?! What is up with that? End of the transformers movie back in the 80s, had a really cool sounding song.
Used to be wearing trenchcoats and being in black was cool. Though now people stereotype you because of it. So until this culture changes *which this man trying to sound like girl culture is looking unlikely to change*, I'll have to go back to wearing my uber-sexy barney *pbs version* costume. Nobody can stereotype me then, eh?

Linkin Park is what started all of this mess.
Everything they sing has a depressing meaning.
Everything I've heard from them is depressing.
You guys do know that Nirvana started the whole emo thing right? From a person who knows grunge rock like if it was his life, Nirvana was the first band to popularize emo, thats what grunge was at the time, a mix of metal and the blues with some punk influence. Of course it didnt have the sad tone that it has today but thats what grunge was, the emo of that time. I mean look at the smashing pumpkins early lyrics, how more emo could you get? The only difference is that grunge rock was actualy good. :Pmexicangordo

No your not, Nirvana and Guns N Roses are as popular as they come.
Well fine but everyone hates Green Day just because they used to be on MTV.
You are entitled to you opinion, don't let other peoples comments change it. I don't like Green Day simply because they are on MTV, I dislike them because I don't like the type of music they make. But again, its all opinions.
Yeah, it bothers me when people decide they dislike a group simply because they are extremely popular and mainstream.Yeah, I agree. However I'm not sure as to the OPs age, because if I remember correctly Green Day received substantial air play on the radio and MTV back in the mid 90s, back then I'd say they had significant success.
green day was already getting attention even before they signed on a major labelLets clear this up. Non of the bands that the OP has mentioned are actually emo. Emo does not mean depressing lyrics, it does not mean silly hair cuts and wrist slashings.
Emo is a genre of music that is short for Emotional Hardcore. As I have already said this gets little radio airplay and is anything but popular. Different? I agree.More advanced emo perhaps?

I try to help clear it up by actually explaining what emo is. But if you aren;t going to pay attention I'm going to give up. There is only so much ignorance I can take.
Do i have to spell it out for people or something, for the last time, in the early 90's grunge was the emo of that time except it wasnt as sad or gloomy as it is today, and Nirvana who are the ones that changed the entire genre of grunge started that trend. If anyone knows about Nirvna then they would know exactly what i am talking about. Just because they didnt bang the listeners heads with things like suicide and such, they were always hidden in the lyrics, and youl find that in almost every single Nirvana song.mexicangordo
Nirvana was a rock band with powerful lyrics, end of story. They didn't have the emo image, tone in their music, ect.
Why can't we all just go back to the days of how elvis was king of rock? We can mostly all agree that was great rock. I'd much rather here something like 'love me tender' at the end of say a movie than 'dance dance' or something. Wait, then since elvis sang emotional songs like 'love me tender', wouldn't that make him the one that started emo? *laughs*hazuki
 Elvis rocks man!

Now read it again carefully and never make a stupid thread where you don;t listen to reason again.
Pop-punk is Blink 182, some of RHCP music, The Offspring, and so on.Nothing at all similar to emo bands.
[QUOTE="Taalon"][QUOTE="mexicangordo"][QUOTE="jimmygrace"][QUOTE="mexicangordo"][QUOTE="jimmygrace"][QUOTE="mexicangordo"]Do i have to spell it out for people or something, for the last time, in the early 90's grunge was the emo of that time except it wasnt as sad or gloomy as it is today, and Nirvana who are the ones that changed the entire genre of grunge started that trend.
I can instantly bet you dont know much about Nirvana, but o well, im not going to sit hear and argue with people who dont even know the music to begin with, all lthey know what emo is or better yet what they think it is are stuff like "linken park" or "MCR" but whatever floats your boat.I recently saw some music video on VH1 with some emo band jumping around ina graveyard with emo clothes.Thats what I call emo.
My point excatly well im glad we work this out ;)[QUOTE="Roland1987"][QUOTE="jimmygrace"]Guess what, just cause a lot of people think something is true doesn't make it a fact. PEopel can say the aforementioned bands are emo till they are blue in the face, it doesn't matter, they aren't. Emo, short for Emotional Hardcore is a genre of music, Emo, short for Emotional Hardcore is a genre of music, Emo, short for Emotional Hardcore is a genre of music, Emo, short for Emotional Hardcore is a genre of music, Emo, short for Emotional Hardcore is a genre of music, do you get it yet? Emo is not a stupid hair cut, tight clothes, and a boat load of self pity and wrist cutting, it isn't a sad with depressing lyrics, it isn't Fall Out Boy, it isn't Linkin Park, it isn't Panic! (i don't know why i am defending these groups, it isn't music i care for, but whatever). People see someone in a depressed mood and say "oh, they are so emo", they see someone with a ridiculous hair cut and tight jeans and say 'they are so emo' they are using the term incorrectly, Emo, short for Emotional Hardcore is a genre of music it isn't a hairdo or a set of clothes. This officially marks the end of me responding to the ignorant in this thread, i'm spent.MCR, Fallout Boy, Panic at the Disco, all these bands all dress similar and their considered emo by tons more people than me.

They dress emo, have an emo tone, and have emo lyrics.Nuff' said.

What else is there? I never said they were emo outside of when performing but their music is emo.

Read this... i'll post it again just for you...
Lets clear this up.
Pop-punk is a genre that is popular and has adopted an emo-St_yle appearance. Its highly likely that the OP has never actually heard emo music. So I'm saying find some City of Caterpillar or something and listen to it. That is emo.

Emotional Hardcore is hardcore punk with emotional lyrics. Hardcore punk involves screaming and stuff. Pop-punk is Green Day and Fall Out boy. Live with it.
Don't be so ignorant please. Going by your metality of depressing lyrics = emo, you could say Nirvana are Emo... are you saying a song called "I hate myself and I want to die" does have depressing lyrics or a depressing title? then going by your stupid mentality it is emo. Blink 182 have a similar sound to Fall out boy and Green Day, hell I think Green Day even supported Blink 182 on one tour. They are the same type of music.
Learn what emo really is before you make these stupid threads. And if this doesn't get through i really give up.
EDIT: and for the record Nirvana aren't at all emo, I'm just pointing out how stupid your mentality is.
It just came outta nowhere it seems. One day Guns N' Roses and Nirvana are ruling the rock world then when Cobain died and GNR broke up everything went emo.All this Green Day, LP, MCR, Fallout Boy, nu-metal bologna, and so on.How did all this happen? Now its suddenly "cool" to cut yourself, dress inblack, and be depressed.jimmygrace
I don't know/care about emo (I assume it's a fad), but Nirvana and Guns N Roses are just bad.

MCR had a video with some pale emo woman and a coffin.Everything LP has is something about dying, or the world ending, or some garbage with a depressing tone. And Fallout Boy is as emo as they come.

Well then, I've said it a number of times. I've explain what was wrong with your statements, but you can't seem to get simple concepts... so I give up. I guess for some ignorance is bliss.
