Are people used to drawing him that way or do they honestly think he was white? Jerusalem is right in the middle of the arabian world, Jesus being black is more likely than him being white.
No, this is not a religious debate thread.

Really I though that would have made him more of a asian or indian colour but hey Im not that great at geography :P (A bad teacher can put you off a subject for life :P)
Jesus was a jew, so its just a random guess, but I think he looked Jewish battlefront23
THREE CHARACTERISTICS SUGGEST THAT JESUS WAS JEWISH:
1. He went into his father's business.
2. He lived at home until he was 33.
3. He was sure his Mother was a virgin, and his Mother was sure he was God.

Jesus was Jewish.... not many black jews...
God was the father though. Is he white? If so, there's your answer. >.>SolidSnake35what if the mother is half black..therefore making jesus quarter black..
How many black jews have YOU seen? That's right...so shutup.Ilived
You shouldn't be telling people to shutup
Also his race doesn't matter.

No one here lived through that time so how exactly are you sure what they looked like back then also like the guy said how do you look Jewish. Also what would stop Jesus from being in the minority of non white Jews.

He most likely was not. Who are you going to belive, european churches who feared the image of a dark Jesus, who felt the only pure race was white and Jesus, the son of God could not be any other color becausae it would be unclean, or do you subscribe to the fact that Jesus lived in the middle east and many people were jewish and brown, not white. Jesus could be "white" or could be "black" but he was most likely brown, middle eastern and h most likely did not have blond hair and blue eyes.

I'm sure there's at least one black person living in Israel nowadays.[QUOTE="Bill900"]correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure Israeli people aren't blackCerussite
Besides, Jesus wasn't Israeli. Israel didn't exist then....
yes but he was supposedly from that region (Bethlehem, Jerusalem, and Nazareth are all cities in modern day Israel)
Jesus would've most likely looked something like this:
The only reason a lot of Jewish people are white nowadays is because they've mixed with the European population...
Cerussite
Exactly, that's exactly what I was gonna say. Israelis aren't white by orgin and most native Israelis aren't white. Besides you canadopt the religion even though you are not ethnically jewish. AND many people have.
Also anybody who is in anyway jewish brags about it. Their bloodline is somethinglike 7% jewish yet they act like they are a hardcoresuper jew. Like they are special. Too many people do that.

So?Israel is a mostly European country now... we don't know how Canaan was 2000 years ago.

Historians say this
[QUOTE="JackMcSexbeard"]isreal is also made up of mostly european jews who immigrated after ww2 and along with the rise of the soviet union and iron curtain in eastern europeCerussiteMost people know that...
Yea but that was directed to Bill900, apparently he didnt know that...

I'm sorry if I worded what I said badly but when I said Israeli I meant the people native to that region who would probablyhave skin tones similar to those of other middle eastern countries just like a native american person would look differentfrom the majority of people living in the US today
One things for sure, Jesus didn't have blond hair and blue eyes.
I thought this passage put some light on the issue.
"The ancient Near east was a cultural crossroad, and the only land route out of Africa, where that continent physically joins the Eurasion landmass. The Roman Province of Judea, where Jesus lived, had many different waves of immigrants pass through at various points in and before recorded history, with the last major group being the Arab conquest in the 7th Century As such, it is not inconceivable that Jesus could have had traces of Arab, Aramean, Berber, Roman, Greek, Black African, Persian or Indianancestry. The aggressive policy of territorial expansion and forced conversion to Judaism practiced by John Hyrcanus a century before Jesus' birth may also have affected the ethnic make-up of the local Jewish populations. "
You can find more interesting information in this in the wiki entry here.
I've always thought it was somewhathumorous that the perception of Jesus is always White even though the Bible talks about him having darker skin and woolly hair. Granted, I suppose he could still be White w/ that description, but it doesn't seem likely to me. I've always thought he wouldn't look white or black. He'd look Middle Eastern. At least, that's what makes the most sense to me.jacintos09
Where is there a biblical description? I don't believe there is.
