That is sooo true. The only people I know that like it are girls and gay men.all girls like it. all gay men like it. one plus the other equals 60 % of the population. simple math.

i'm a straight guy and think it's pretty cool, that's so **** juvenile to say it's for gay men
honestly I don't care if it's not a hardcore vampire movie, there is so many traditional vampire and zombie movies out there we really don't need any more.
If vampire "fiction lore" originally had them sparkle in the sunlight and the twilight vampires burst into flames then everyone would be knocking that saying how stupid it was.
my tastes are broad enough I can enjoy a "pg" themed movie about vampires and werewolves without there having to be heads ripped off.
people take this **** way too seriously if they feel "their" genre has been messed with.
I just hated it because the visuals and acting were terrible. Plus the story is nothing special.i'm a straight guy and think it's pretty cool.

I don't think you people understand what makes a bad movie bad.
considering it's made ten times it's production cost in revenue that is by definition a success, just because you didn't like it doesn't make it by definition a bad movie.
What makes a bad movie? If its not bad acting, bad story, bad visuals then I dont know what it is. Just because something makes money does not make it good.I don't think you people understand what makes a bad movie bad.

Because there are a lot of sexually depraved teenage girls, middle aged mothers and grandmothers out there that will read through any pile of dog ***** as long as the book contains a sexual fantasy.

Perhaps not; I am also, and I hate it 8)Its popular becouse it caters to young girls. Actors are chosen for their looks not acting, the love story is basically what a young girl thinks romance is. It is very idealised and easy to swollow. The story is so simple its silly, the characters are so flat its terryfing, the acting ranges from bad (Kristen Stewart) to utterly boring (Pattison) and in between are other completely bland roles. I watched both movies and I have to say I had fun watching them, but its the kind of fun you get when you watch really bad movies. To me the movies are hilarious especially Stewarts acting. The whole sceen in the first movie where Bella enters a classroom and her scent I suppose blows over to whatever his name is, is pure comedy gold. Pattison looking dangerously constipated...all I can say about that.
Something I would like to say is that I do not blame how bad the movies are on the actors or even on the source material. In my opinion the director is horrible.
My friend dragged me to the second one... she got very mad at me, cause all I did was laugh through the whole thing. It was us plus like maybe 8 other people in the whole cinima. I couldnt help but laugh tho. She was like "SHHH!" and i was like "I cant help it! Shes freaking stupid, they are freaking stupid, and I could write a much better sappy love story." she was like :| i hate you lol

Yes, they are. Everyone in there... they looked like they were gonna kill me. I was like "Im sorry but im not going to dry hump my seat cause some ... guy.. whos really NOT that attractive... gets all sparkly, and stalks this chick, and the story sucks. " Dont get me wrong.. I like sparkles ^_^ but not on my men.Whether a movie is good or not is all in the eye of the beholder. I think the reason it's become so popular is that it's a sappy love story, now including a sexy vampire! ZOMG!
Seriously, though, I think the movie sucks. I've seen the first one, that was enough for me.
I actually liked the first movie...WHAT? well, it is kind of entertaining for a 2 hours Bus trip, and i can see why is so damn popular, pretty girls, pretty boys (i guess) and a tragic love story involving "Vampires" (if we can call them Vampires), besides the never failing argument of "i love you so much to sacrifice myself for you...even if i only meet you a couple of days go".
Anyway, i'm gonna rent the second one, to watch it (i'm the kind of person who must see the entire story), but yeah, the fans, are pretty annoying calling it the best thing ever.

Unfortunately, I know someone who thought it was a good movie despite admitting how horrible the acting was. I didn't even lead her on, she just said it was good but had bad acting. I guess for fans of the series they could say good idea poor execution, but what do i know I haven't read the books.
I still say that the "vampires" in that movie aren't vampires. They don't have fangs. Their teeth are sharp to pierce flesh. Basically that = undead, sparkling/glittery cannibals. :| Or a failed experiment at zombies. :( I read the books because the covers appealed to me. :cry:ayanami_rei
They're like that because the author didn't do her homework on vampires before writing the books. Who in their right mind doesn't know what a vampire is at the age of 36...
The real question is why is complaining about twilight so popular?
kate_jones
I wonder this myself. There are a million things I don't like but I don't actively waste my life complaining about them all the time, and encouraging others to do so. Especially when it's been done sooooooooo many times.
Maybe I'm partial because I actually like Twilight... but it still seems reasonable to grow up and move on- which some Twilight haters can't do.

because the books has hidden messages that made the girls go crazy for it and when the time is right the author will control them and take over the world. its sickening!!! :o

I am a girl and I HATE Twilight. I refuse to read the books or watch the movie, its for little girls and I hate that grown women love it
You are asking why its so popular, only to be one sided in your argument? nice.
In any case, the sparkling thing isnt that huge of a deal, and its nothing big to alter things of lore to fit a story.
Also, there is no contradiction in the book and I would love you to bring them to light for me to see. I read 3 of them and they were all great books. Most people dont even read the damn books, see a scene in the movie and auto hate because they are manly men. Others actually read the books and are atleast entitled to their distaste.

That kind of attitude makes you seem like an adolescence, and no offence meant, but regardless of what others think, you shouldnt blow it off for no reason if you havent even seen the movie or read the book, the latter of which I recommend you do if you want to hate on it.[QUOTE="ChaelaMcchubble"][QUOTE="Tokugawa77"]

I have read the books. What makes me angry is that she tries to write about vampires, but then she says that she doesn't know anything about them on her own site. When you're a writer, you should write what you know. If you're going to write about anything else but that, then you should do research before hand. I have no problem with vampires not being able to be burned in the sunlight (I mean, in Blade, they did it. Look at Blade. He's part vampire and part human and he's what you call a day walker). But come on. No fangs? That's what irks me the most. There are contradictions. And there are things that make you go, "wait, what?" The werewolves aren't werewolves (read book four to understand what I'm talking about). I guess the reason why I hate it so much is because all of a sudden, everyone loves vampires, but all for the WRONG reasons, just like they all love werewolves, all for the WRONG reasons. You are asking why its so popular, only to be one sided in your argument? nice.

Judging from clips of people reading it on YouTube.Bourbons3Theres your problem.
I think that it is odd for an author to write about something she has no solid knowledge about, but to me its no big deal to take something you have little knowledge of and write a story about it. She had to have read SOMEthing beforehand though, otherwise her vampires wouldnt have had any similarities and she wouldnt have thought to call them that i the first place. I swear they had fangs, not massive ones, but I thought they had fangs. Hmm, never really thought about that fact. I'm sure even if they werent called Vampires, everyone would still hate it because it has a big following. I think a big thing is that they are attractive people that drink blood, and if she would have called it anything else people would have hated on it for "being to similar to a vampire." so either way, being something similar, or being a vampire without being faithful to the formula, its a lose lose. People just need to lay off. The haters talk about Twilight just as much if not more than the people who actually enjoy the books or the sub-par movie adaptations. Regardless, I havent read the fourth book, but yeah, the massive cult followings of ANYTHING can get annoying, regardless of what it is, but thats no valid reason to hate it.I have read the books. What makes me angry is that she tries to write about vampires, but then she says that she doesn't know anything about them on her own site. When you're a writer, you should write what you know.
