[QUOTE="lucas_kelly"]Its not his last movie. dudeheath ledger is dead
It's not his last movie though. This is:

heath ledger is dead
I believe he finished shooting a different film to be released soon that wrapped up shortly after his death, same as TDK. Could be wrong though.
Rekunta
He actually died during the filming of said movie. I can't remember the name of it though.

Yeah it was some wierd movie name, but apparently Johnny Depp, and Collin Ferrell are both replacing him as alter-egos after Heath Ledger's footage of whatever character they're playing.
I wanted to see it the minute it was announced, while Heath Ledger was still alive.
Trust me though, it is completely worth it. It's one of the best movies I've ever seen, and definitely the best I've seen this year.
Sora529
Yeah, I was hyped before it was even announced who would play The Joker.

this is true, its annoying when they try to add hype to the film with this "the joker killed him" rubbish
Could it be the fact that people like Super hero movies, or Batman is a popular character, I didn't see The Crow having people flock to it when Brandon Lee was killed
Christian Bale took second seat to Heath Ledger, but the movie was still very much about Batman. I loved Batman Begins so I was naturally excited for Dark Knight.

Is this why this movie will make a lot more money than Batman Begins? I'm not accusing you or everyone, just most of the people.

It is a sequel to a very popular Batman film, with a large following, Joker or not it was going to make more then the first.

My assumption is that Joker stole the show, correct me if I"m wrong. I think that a lot if not most people who went to see this movie was the fact that Joker is in it. Batman is probably the most popular hero while Joker is the most popular villian.
I remember insiders talking how about freakishly startling Ledger's performance was when he was still alive. I have no doubt that people would still have an interest to see this movie if Ledger was still alive. And yes, the Joker DOES play a large part in this movie, but it's not entirely about him. There is a lot going on with Bruce Wayne and his alter ego as well, not to mention the complex rise and fall of Harvey Dent and the great sacrafice made at the end. The Joker is only one part of a very exceptional film.
You're right, everyone shouldn't see it just because of the Joker; everyone should see it because it's one of the best made films of this generation.

And why did people go see Jurassic Park? For the dinosaurs. Just about every movie has one thing about it that grabs people's attention and make them want to see it. The Joker is the attention grabber here, and as I said in the previous post I just made, there's a whole lot more to love about this movie that will definately make them glad they came. Oh, I also want to add something... not only did Ledger perform the greatest Joker, but he, IMO, performed the greatest villain of any movie.

Well... if you know who Harvey Dent is, you should know he becomes Two Face.. and yes, I did say sacrafice but I didn't go into any detail of what that is. Sorry if it seemed like I was giving something away.

I will say that some people did go just to see Ledgers last performance, but Id only contribute that to about 5 percent. The rest are just fans of Batman, Batman Begins, or just based off the trailers, and what they saw they were interested. And obviosuly a lot of people went to see it for the joker, but thats like saying a lot of people go see Spiderman 3 for Venom, both are part of the story and are obviously going to attract people.

Yes, it was a big reason i went, i mean watch the damn trailers lol, he was so awesome in them, add that, the new bat suit, the fact its a sequel to batman begins, the actors, all together and I was right there in line.
It wasn't, though... What you're trying to force me to say is on level with trying to get me to say i saw Wanted, because of Angelina Jolie's ass.Probably. It would be a lot easier if you just admit you were there to see Joker...doesn't have to be the only reason...but just admit it.

They show Jolie's ass in that movie? :o I'm going to see that tomorrow! :P
I wanted to see it after Batman Begins ended. :| (yes when TDK wasn't even announced)club-sandwich
lol yeah, all I could think when BB ended was, we need a sequel!
For me, just because Batman was big part of my childhood. In my lifetime, Batman Begins was the only Batman motion picture I did not see in theaters (and yes, that even includes Batman and Robin, of which, less said about it, the better).
That, and the trailers looked AMAZING.

I hope you realize the point you are trying to make in this thread is absolutely dumb. "THEY WENT TO SEE THE MOVIE CAUSE THEY WERE INTERESTED IN IT" Wow, really? It doesn't matter what intrigued them, the fact of the matter is they wanted to see the movie. So, why the hell does it matter?
