My pitbull rocks. His name's cookie monster, and this thread is dedicated to him.

Pitbulls are NOT all aggressive and got that rep because they're used as fighters.

In my lifetime my family has owned over 10 breeds of dogs and not one of them IS as friendly, loyal and gentle as the pitbulls plus they make awesome guard dogs.

Try typing 'pitbull sharky' on youtube. lol

Since I was watching a video about it, DO A BARREL ROLL.

Anyway, I haven't had much experience with pitbulls. A neighbour used to own one, and it was a nice enough dog, however it was being bred for fighting. =( Imo, no domestic animals are agressive by nature, they are provoked by idiot children, or sadistic adults. Some can be (barking and growling) but if the owner is around to calm them down and get the other person and the dog comfortable with each other they are fine.

what are you talking about, Pitbulls are extremely aggressive:| but it all depends on the way they are brought up, i have a Doberman, so i know about "aggressive" dogs, no doubt your pitbull is loyal and trustworthy around you and your family. try putting a random dog and or person in your backyward with it see what happens. not saying anything necessarily will, but you never know. it could completely randomly maul a child. as could anything really on this planet. they are bred to fight, they have aggression! and i agree, they are an awesome dog. that needs to be respected

As much as that one occurrence makes me sad, it does not change my opinions on pitbulls.

My 6yr old niece loves them.

Because they are the number 1 culprit for dog attacks against children and infants?

Yeah, bloody great breed of dog you have there. They're abhorrent creations of artificial selection bred to fight. Their genes should be eradicated from the face of the earth.

What? People are fools. I had a Doberman that was: 1 Friendly. 2. A coward. 3. Never bit another human in my ownership. People assume too much.

I doubt that the average pitbull is prone to attack random strangers when they're in sight.

Neither Dobermans nor pitbulls will, on average, attack strangers for no reason - that was my point.

if they think their "territory" or family is in danger they certainly will, and my dog attacks (tries to) any dog it sees and some people, and it with my family is not aggressive in the slightest. and there has been hundreds of "no reason" attacks by Pitbulls alone.

Are you mad, pitbulls are one, if not the most agressive bred of dogs, they are bred to fight.

Are you joking? A pitbull that is stranger to you will attack you if you even think about approaching it's zone. Speaking of owning a pitbull, my good friend owns one, which took a few months of me frequently visiting his place before he could trust the dog to roam freely around the house while I was there. I sure as hell couldn't wait for that beast to trust me.

Are you doing this on purpose? You only need to get an animal to be familiar with humans to domesticate and educate it. Of course there's no guarantee that it won't attack anyone. On a side-note, savage humans would be no more than more intelligent animals.

In many ways I agree as I've had a rottweiler and brazilian mastiff. These dogs can be great if you treat and raise them correctly. My brother is the one who raised them and has done an amazing job. My 4 year old nephew just loves them. If these dogs are mistreated or just left to the wild then they can be a great danger to the public and especially children.

Yes and no. If you know how to interact with a tamed dog correctly you should never have a problem. Example, never mess with a dog while they are eating. o.0

PLEASE. Never say that again. Again this is for my pitbul who has cancer.

I have a pitbull. She's nice, but sometimes skittish and stupid. That said, dogs are stupid, so it's no surprise. She's very nice, though.

I prefer boxers, but not with American ears.

[QUOTE="mindstorm"][QUOTE="sAndroid17"]what? pointing out stupid things you are saying? haha ok, sure thing, dogs are forever wild, they're never fully "tame"sAndroid17
Yes and no. If you know how to interact with a tamed dog correctly you should never have a problem. Example, never mess with a dog while they are eating. o.0

see, no. thats bad in itself, you are the boss its your food, you should be able to take his food whenever you want and he be lucky hes getting any. you are the master thats bad training right there. i can take my Dobermans food anytime, but i never could with my Dalmation and she was just a pup

Yeah. I test my doggeh every once and awhile by doing something unpredictable like taking her food away. She merely watches me and has this look of "well, are you gonna give it back?"
