Exactly. I'd rather know how she will most likely respond :o The only thing that is a problem is people she doesn't know entering the house, but she just barks and then I put her in a room, then she calms. When she isn't on what she considers her property (outside) she's nice to whoever/whatever she sees.

I don't think he should've posted that picture. Totally pointless. We already know people get hurt by animals. Does that mean we should kill any animal that resembles any animal that hurt someone?

Yeah. If she was ever to even try to bite someone in seriousness, I think we'd have to put her down :( Luckily, she hasn't! We found her on the side of a busy road in a rainstorm all bedraggled.

The funny thing is that even poodles can be "agressive". I mean, all dogs breeds can be agressive and just a few can be "dangerous".

One problem with medium - large dogs is that their size makes their nature much more important. A small poodle attacking me would make me laugh.

There was a pitbull killed near me because it killed 8 sheep.. If you want affection, try a border collie. Mnie curls up on my knee like a cat after meals.

 at the misinformed pitbull haters. The pitbull is a strong, powerful dog. Like any other dog, when neglected or poorly brought up, it will become aggressive. It is only more dangerous in this situation because, naturally, being a stronger dog with a powerful bite, if it becomes aggressive it can do a lot of damage. If you are a caring and dedicated dog owner, the pitbull can be an amazing pet.

i think people should get rid of pets when newborns are in the house. animals are still animals not "members of the family"

apparently someone let a pitbull near a dog, did you see the pic on the first page? my point is any breed of dog can be dangerous if brought up that way, or be gentle if brought up that way. we had a neopolatin mastiff who never bit anyone.

I love all breeds of dogs, and i'll give your pitbull a big hug if it came scurrying up to me for a fuss. My favorite type of dog however, the feathered Saluki! The Saluki is the most ancient breed of dog. The Arabs believe that dogs are unclean, all except the Saluki. They even let them sleep in their tents.

They are so beautiful!

A lot has to be taken into consideration with the Saluki, but when you've been the caring owner of one you'll experiance a bonding like no other.

Whats this opinion of if you bring up a pitbull the right way, its impossible that they could ever harm somebody? Thats BS...

You can do that with any dog, and its easier to do with other breeds than some. And sure enough, you could do that with a pitbull and it can seem like it never harms anybody. But it still always, ALWAYS, retains that instinct within it, that instinct to fight and kill... and anything could trigger it, anything could annoy it and spur it to attack anyone, even family members.Psychologically inside, they'll always be a time bomb. They are dangerous, period, and anyone who says otherwise really needs to wake the **** up.

i dont think dog fights should be illegal. its entertainment same with cockfights. the owner has complete control over the beast . if you can put down the animal you should be able to use it in battle

Some breeds are more inclined to bite your face off than others. It's like allowing people to own handguns but not machineguns. And I'd rather avoid the whole biting thing all together.

But with the added fact that its the genes in pitbulls which makes them that bit more dangerous.Hey, I'm all for having pitbulls legal, just as long as the owner is willing to take full responsibility in the case of an accident. And to keep it muzzled at appropriate times.

I was bitten by a daschhund when I was ten, but it didn't get put down. Any breed of dog can bite or attack for any reason. My father works for an insurance company and they get a list of the top ten breeds of dogs that bite, and last year labs and chihuahuas were in the top five.

Are they not responsible now? Or are you saying that if an animal injures a human, the owner of said animal should be treated as if they themselves had directly injured the person, as if with their own hands?

I was bitten by a daschhund when I was ten, but it didn't get put down.

I don't think people should be allowed to own dangerous dogs as pets.

But that's just me.

how do you determine which dogs are dangerous? Dogs that have bit someone are supposed to be put down.

I was bitten by a daschhund when I was ten, but it didn't get put down. Any breed of dog can bite or attack for any reason. My father works for an insurance company and they get a list of the top ten breeds of dogs that bite, and last year labs and chihuahuas were in the top five.

Even Chihuahuas can be agressive :P

But what about Labs, Chows, Rottweilers, Dalmatians, and any of the other big, powerful breeds that are known for aggressiveness?

[QUOTE="Jandurin"] Are they not responsible now?

I think in the case of a dog with a reputation for being bred to kill, the owner should be held at least in some way responsible for said dog injuring a human.I don't know now, a fine, or a warning or something... But yeah I believe the owner should take on some responsibility, as they should be keeping those animals knowing they could be held responsible. Don't you need a license for pitbulls anyway?
