Or can you not resist the power of the opposite sex?(Or same sex)? I was inspired by this old Article http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2011/09/27/why-young-christians-arent-waiting-anymore/?iref=allsearch What did I take away from that article? " If you get married when you're 13, you don't have 15 years of temptation." makes perfect sense :) I wouldn't bother with a Purity pledge or a ring(unless the ring is free ..I could use the bling). I will vow though to wait untill after marriage to have sex :) Cyber sex doesn't count...Or do you think it does count?

What? Heck no. Why would I want to vow to spend the rest of my life with someone with whom I have not yet experienced one of the defining factors of happiness?

I follow the look don't touch motto. If I am going to dedicate my time to a girl and wait..she is going to have to show me whats at the end of her rainbow first. That and I don't want to accidently fall in love with a dude :P

Would you buy a car without test driving it? Or is merely looking through the windows good enough for you?

No I would jump in the car after buying it and ride it all over town. I just think a little insurance is needed if your going to wait. Well that and that leads to part B of my plan..Get her to show and then say "well your already naked so why not?" I won't wait for marriage but TBH I won't jump in bed with someone I don't feel something for or isn't good at it.

I consider waiting until marriage to have sex as a virtue and I don't mean to be self-righteous about it, but I will not make a public pledge about my virginity by wearing a purity right. That warrants the wrong sort of attention in my opinion. Also, the fact that many people who wear purity rings are Christians doesn't entice me.

Waiting until (after) marriage is just silly. What if it turns out you and your partner aren't sexually compatible? That's going to lead to divorce real quick, be it through (hopefully) mutually realizing the issue, or because someone was not being faithful.

I always wondered how people could believe Mary was a virgin, this explains it. She wasn't a "virgin" virgin, but a "second" virgin.

In my opinion I don't really belive most people are still vergins when they get married. If you have had pleasure with the same sex, but never with the opposite sex, and then get married with the opposite sex then you have still lost your verginity though. The only true way to stay a vergin until marriage is to not have pleasure with the same and the opposite sex until you marry.

What's a vergin? Is it some sort of virgin/vegan super hybrid? (obviously the purest type of person)

I think that just has a lot to do with those under the impression that sex is such a dirty or immoral act of sorts, along with the idea that sex should be done mainly as a means of procreation. *shrugs*

I don';t follow the moral immoral stuff people feed us.I have reasons for wanting to wait and wanting to have sex. 1 - If I love her and she isn't ready then I'll respect that 2 - Sex feels very good - Its hypocrisy when people tell you sex is bad and teach you to go forth and multiply.

But you changed your answer halfway through the thread from being abstinent to just waiting until you're "ready". I wasn't really referring to you, nor was I saying I agree with it.

Self denial - not drinking any alcohol, ever. Self control - allowing yourself one dram of scotch or one beer after work, but not more except for special occasions.

Oh, I see. I don't think there's anything wrong with self-denial. Alcoholism runs deep in my family and although I may not have it, I don't want to risk the possibility of becoming an alcoholic by taking a sip. If I never know what alcohol tastes like, I'll never miss it. The same is true for sex. If I only have sex with one partner in my life, I will never miss a better sex partner, because I'll never know what better sex could feel like. It's not a necessity to me. That's simply my opinion though.

No, but I hate having sex. Well, not really the sex part, but the part right before and after. I am madly paranoid about getting a girl pregnant, so I try to avoid it, if I can. I don't really want kids. I know there's a thing called a vasectomy, but you never know... might regret it. And who wants to risk it, if there's a chance that reversing it won't work?

I feel you on that. Mix it with BC. Still won't kill the paranoia, but it helps.
