Their choice. I couldn't care less if women wanted to be in the marines or any sect of the military.

I think the women marines are some of the most bad*** women alive but I still don't think they should be in combat just because seeing a dead women hurts my eyes and heart more than a dead man but I think that has somethign to do with our culture or at least that is what my teachers have said.

I suppose a case by case basis is fair, but in my ROTC battalion the girls only hold us up...and that is ROTC; a joke by any standard.

I don't know what intellectually challenged individuals you're making conversation with... but I advise you to stop.

Sorry to offend if this is your family or whatever, but seriously, there's no VALID argument against a woman serving in the marines; only mindless bigorty.

Might be women simply not right for the job, taking on more responsibility than they can handle.

I fail to see how being born with a certain set of genitals can make somebody inherently worse at a task.

The right people, with the right training and motivation should always do fine.

Thank you for that nugget of wisdom.

Actually, women can exercise and become just as strong as anyone else. Perhaps, they are at a slight inherent disadvantage, but it's easily overcome.

That wasn't even a remotely valid point.

I'm all for women in the military, but his point has some validity. If a women needs to carry a wounded 220 pound man out of the line of fire or across a great distance she may not be able too (or may not be able to do it quickly enough.) Granted the situation where she is the only one left to carry a wounded man is pretty unlikely.

I've no problem. There are no defined front lines and women were and are already being assigned for patrols that are likely to involve combat in Iraq because of social differences where men can't search women.

They are overall weaker too - many women lack strong mental endurance.

Think about it. If women, on average, can make for good soldiers just like men - why were they so disconsidered throughout history for warfare? Not everyone had to "stay at home and take care of the children."

ok your going about htis all wrong I mean I believe women should not be combat as well but I wouldn't say it's because they are weak and lak mental endurance.

first of all women are proven to be more emotional than men and ina combat situation that is unneeded distraction. second women have the abilit to physically be as strong as men but they aren't goign to be that way even in the marines I have met plenty of marine women and none of whom feel that building themselves into a male body type is just silly. Alot of women even if they are in the marines still would like to keep their femenine apperance but have some muscle where they need it.

Women shouldn't be allowed in combat my spanish teacher put it this way "women are not allowed in combat because seeing dead pregnant women is still not seen as ok" I mean she has a point I don't see the military wanting to keep a women on payed leave for being pregnant for 9 months reality it would be expensive and yes they would hae to keep them out of combat because of the entire pregnancy situation. Also No you can not make a female take birth control just to keep themin combat I mean that's just wrong and even the military can't make you.

Wait, why are women suddenly getting pregnant left and right? It would be irresponsible behavior, in my opinion, for a female marine to get pregnant especially when there is (apparently) a combat situation likely. Any woman who takes their job seriously as a marine would in all likelyhood know better.

I have no problem with it. If they want to serve their country and fight for it then they should also know the dangers that come with the job. But then I a mof the mind that only people who have successfully served in the military should be allowed to vote.

Dependant upon her value to the force, maternity leave or discharge. The case would have to be reviewed, but irresponsible behavior like that is certainly not acceptable.

I guess I'm just relieved to know that it's "dependant upon her value to the force" then.

You do know that no form of birth control works 100% of the time, right? Pregnancy still has a rare chance of occurence even if the female is responsible.

Actually, women can exercise and become just as strong as anyone else. Perhaps, they are at a slight inherent disadvantage, but it's easily overcome.

That wasn't even a remotely valid point.

Wait, you're actually arguing that women, on the whole, are just as strong as men? Political correctness is great and all, but that is absurd. Everybody knows that women are physically, inherently weaker. There are certainly some anomalies, but there is a pretty lucid trend here. There is a reason that there are different physical fitness scales for men and women in each of the services and, even though they are body weight exercises, almost categorically women cannot compare to men in physical fitness. This isn't even referring to load bearing exercises.

I'm sorry, not quite what I mean. I was under the impression that this was a discussion about female marines getting pregnant as there is a combat situation going on. I'm sorry if I didn't quite say what I wanted to as clearly as possible, I'm a little groggy.

Naturally, a female marine is allowed to have children, it would simply be ideal to not plan to start a family in the midst of combat. (Again, that's the impression I got from your previous post.)

Obviously having children isn't a sign of one not taking their job seriously. Yikes.

However, if pregnancy deliberately occurs at an inappropriate time for your job, then your professionalism can probably be taken into account.

Also, I'm not naive, I know soldiers have sex. I'm just not going to call it a good idea most of the time.

i'm not some crazed womens rights activist so don't talk to me like i am. my point is simply that women can be good soldiers. i used to shoot in Jr. Rifle and one of the best marksman (markswoman?) was a girl. i'm not trying to make this an issue like you, for whatever reason, think i am, i'm simply stating that i have no problem with women defending their country.

[QUOTE="JabbaDaHutt30"]And what if it happens? dhyce

Dependant upon her value to the force, maternity leave or discharge. The case would have to be reviewed, but irresponsible behavior like that is certainly not acceptable.

wow so thi s"value to the fore" does this go in terms of high ranking female marines can have babies but anyone else is just NO. first of all that's not allowed I mean your pregnant so good bye. just because they are the marines doesn't mean that they are allowed to control someones reproductive rights in any manner. I mean some office secretary gets fired for getting pregnant and that would be just the same as this that's just silly thinking.

[QUOTE="JabbaDaHutt30"][QUOTE="shoeman12"]they can fight just as effectively as men.shoeman12
Really? Why do women have a record of being disregarded when it comes to warfare then? Because of men, right? They got oppressed, right? Now how did that happen until *men* gave them equal rights?

i'm not some crazed womens rights activist so don't talk to me like i am. my point is simply that women can be good soldiers. i used to shoot in Jr. Rifle and one of the best marksman (markswoman?) was a girl. i'm not trying to make this an issue like you, for whatever reason, think i am, i'm simply stating that i have no problem with women defending their country.

he is telling the truth I was on my high school rifle team and a female and our team aptain was always the best shooter and our captain was female for like 3- 4 years in a row because according to statistics shooting is a womens thing we are just better at it we also went to the olympic training center in colorado springs where I might add we met the best olympic rifle shooter and yes she was a women...but I still don't think they should be allowed in combat I mean maybe I could go with sniper training and participation along with these lines but not in the mud.

I guess I'm just relieved to know that it's "dependant upon her value to the force" then.

You do know that no form of birth control works 100% of the time, right? Pregnancy still has a rare chance of occurence even if the female is responsible.

JabbaDaHutt30

Precisely, often times when a soldiers case is reviewed the result depends heavily upon how well they do their job, as it should be.

Of course I know there is no 100% full proof method of birth control. But you know what also works? Not having sex. Again, so I do not repeat a landslide of illogic against what I'm saying, I'm not suggesting a female soldier at any point in her life having a chiold is irresponsible; I'm saying it is when it will knowingly compromise her ability to perform her job. I know, accidents happen, but that doesn't mean responsible action cannot be planned and discussed as soon as you know of the pregnancy.

Whatever they want to do, it's fine by me.
