[QUOTE="SaintLeonidas"]

What I'm more interested in, if they did visit, would they have their own religion? God? If so, what would their reactions be to our non-belief?

Euroshinobi

Omg they will enslave, rape & kill us if we don't follow their religion, i never thought of it like that!.......and omgz what if this world is not ours and they come back like GTFO foolish mortals were taking our planet back......wait or was that a movie o___0

Then they discover that our guns actualy hurt them and their phaz0r cant burn trough our clothes and they are screwed. Then we enslave, rape and exterminate them :D

The glory of life :D

I'm not raping no Alien and catching some Intergalactical SARS, whats wrong with you! plus what if their bodies are made like they have Acid vages of death that eats your manhood, =D yes and we can find their planet and take it over! and use it as a place where we send all criminals, fat people, the religious & jewish people.

It'd be awesome if the aliens were like the digital ones on Aqua teen FTW!

I agree. SO what if animals were here first? How'd they get here? How was the universe created? How as the "Big Bang" Created? Who created all these things? THey just didn't appear out of thin air. IF they were here already where'd they come from.

Snipes_2

GOD DID IT!!! DIDNT YOU KNOW??

And please dont ask who did God cuz that is a completely irrelavent question obviously.:roll::roll:

On a serious note, ever wonder the possiblity of a God existing who could care squat about humans? Humans arent even a blip on the radar of the universe and the sheer choas and suffering in humans suggests that there is no one "looking over" us.

No, I'm not a religious person, I just don't think the sole reason I am on earth is to die or worship some All powerful being. I'm still looking for why I'm here...

Right now I beleive my purpose is to try and find what I was meant to fight for. I think, but I could be wrong, that you mean something similar?

Drake's Equation ... there are other advanced civilizations in our galaxy... how many, that depends...

I voted "yes". "God created man in his image", how could anyone justify that an alien that looked nothing like a human being, yet acted like one, was made by the same God?

Not many people realise this, but there is a thing called "interpretation" when it comes to reading the bible. That why we have lots of groups within Christianity.

I voted yes because as I understand it.

God sent his ONLY son to die here on Earth to get rid of our Original Sin. And if intelligent life exists outside earth, then I guess they must not know the difference between good and evil because assuming God would have created them and put them in their own Eden, they couldn't have eaten the fruit.

Then again. Maybe they did eat the fruit, and God just didn't forgive them, and they, and their sons, and their son's sons, etc, are all burning in hell.

Damn.

I should have answered No. I guess they've covered their bases.

They'd probably print out a new bible copy that mentions them in a new chapter or something. Or a entirely new book called "The brand new New Testament"

It's always been one of the conspiracy theories. That the government couldn't allow aliens to be found out because their discovery would cause mass hysteria in religions.

As far as i'm concerned it's already been disproved. If your asking if people would abandon Christianity if aliens were found my answer is no. People will blindly follow religion, i'm just not sure why.

I don't think aliens are mentioned anywhere in the bible. They woudl be 'just one fo God's creatures' However if aliens do meet us one day and Christianity is still live and kicking more than likely the believers will come up with some excuse for soemthign and then twist the meanings of the words in the bible to meet their own needs. As would the believers of the Koran and any other holy text you can think of.

BumFluff122

I fail to see how aliens would disprove christianity at all. Just because it isn't mentioned. Yeah, I am sure it would freak some people out. But it wouldn't disprove anything. Unless of course they had proof that disproved religions well then I will concede if they had that.

no. i think that in christianity's lore the G to the O to the D created the universe so anything that is in said universe is here because of him. i am sure if in the future aliens are found there will be missions to other planets to convert those aliens into christians. :D

christianity?

YES.

other religions?

plausible.

you see, in the bible it states that jesus died for our sins.

so for christianity to go forth as a religion after aliens are discovered is impossible.

why?

because then it means that jesus christ somehow existed in their world and died for THEIR sins.

unless aliens had tv and witnessed jesus christ die during his cruxification.

it just doesn't work like that.

Well, it's not nearly that simple. The Bible does describe celestial beings, and calls them "angels"; we call celestial beings "aliens". It is entirely possible that angels and aliens are the same beings, simply with a different name.

[QUOTE="Mafiree"]Evolution didn't, I don't see why the discovery of aliens would.Pixel-Pirate

Alot of christians simply deny evolution. If an Alien came down in a space ship and said "Hi" it would be alot harder to deny. You couldn't just say "The facts don't support it!" about that. You couldn't deny it.

And a lot of them do. And it fits in perfectly with religion, and I don't see why the existence of aliens would be a problem either. Part of the point of religion is to seek the truth, not to blindly turn away from evidence because new prospects and ideas frighten you.

Generally, angels are the messengers of God, but there is not a lot of information on them in the Bible. The thing about the word "Heaven" is it can be used in two ways:
1. "the abode of God, the angels, and the spirits of the righteous after death; the place or state of existence of the blessed after the mortal life."
2. "the sky, firmament, or expanse of space surrounding the earth."

These aliens would have to be human.

You know what...they would probably just be thought of as satans creations whose sole purpose in life would be to destroy the Obama administration.

Well, it is entirely possible that several words in the Bible have been mistranslated/misinterpreted over time, and the word is used in both contexts throughout the Bible. Of course this is all just speculation; but there is still a possibility.
