People only use the "but, but...everyone does it" card when they're talking about ways in which they suck. No one ever says "but, but...I may like puppies, but everyone else does too."

Two things about that...

1) No, not everyone else does it. Not everyone else wants to have sex with 15 year old girls, not everyone else is a drug addict, there ARE atheists in foxholes, and not everyone is a racist.

2) If you recognize that your racism is bad (as indicated by the fact that you have to use the "but, everyone does it" excuse), wouldn't it be better to STOP being a racist? I mean, you can spend your entire life pretending that "everyone is a racist", but that still leaves you as a racist, and you still know that it's wrong as indicated by the fact that you have to make excuses for it. I don't want to hear excuses. If you know that it's wrong, either make a change or stop trying to justify it to me. Because it's a lame ass excuse and I'm not buying it.

Then everyones ignorant. Look, it's natural to some extent. Going out and spreading "hate" messages or fully sticking with a judgement based on race certainly isn't appropraite. But, when people see someone they never met or don't know, they make first impressions based on things like race, religion, posture, demeanor, and look. Everyone must make some subconscious outlook on a person they don't know. Why? I don't know, maybe it's some natural survival instinct. Once they meet that person and know them, then naturally they change their outlook on the person. So, in that sense, people can be racist. Here's another analogy. Let's say you were bitten and mauled by a dog. Naturally, next time you approach or see a dog, you're going to get nervous and afraid. Again, natural impressions.

Actually, that is true. That truth is actually an implicitly necesary quality.

Let's analyze that statement: "only racists think everyone is racist".

1) This statement contains two very real opinions: people who think that everyone is racist, and people who do NOT think everyone is racist.

2) If you think that everyone is racist, that includes you. You are a racist.

3) However, if you are NOT a racist, then you do not think that everyone is a racist. Because once again, "everyone" includes you. If you know that YOU are not a racist, then you cannot honestly say that EVERYONE is.

Also updating it back to what we were talking about. Now that we are finally cracking the DNA code and gaining the ability to alter it at an early stage (The whole "Designer Baby" thing) its entirely possible that altering the correct part of the DNA could change the childs skin pigmentation. After all the skin pigmention is as much a part of DNA as eye colour since that is also generally decided by the parents though not so much as its known to skip generations and the like. So skin pigmentation is in the genetic structure as it would have to be to be carried on from generation to generation so entire civilizations weren't wiped out by skin cancer or the like.
