[QUOTE="fidosim"] Honestly, we're doomed if our generation really feels this way.Jandurinoh noes, we are doomed! I'm sure in the past, every single able-bodied male (and female?) was fully willing to live and die specifically for their country. It's not about wanting to do it, it's about doing it anyway. The greatest generation did it anyway. The Korean generation did it anyway. The Vietnam generation did it anyway (although that's where the sentiment about reaping the benefits of living in a country then running away when it does something you don't like began).
[QUOTE="fidosim"] Honestly, we're doomed if our generation really feels this way.-eddy-Are we really? Perhaps it's good that citizen have the critic sight to see that you needn't follow your goverment all the way to death. A citizen, by definition, is someone who owes allegiance to their government in exchange for the protection and privledges that the government offers. It is perfectly legitimate to criticise the laws and practices of a government, but disobeying the law out of pure self-interest is unacceptable. It's not unreasonable that the government expects its citizens to fight for it when it's in trouble, especially when the country is under attack. You can't disguise selfishness as high philosophy.
If I felt like I was dying for something yes I'd fight for Canada though I wouldn't intend of dying. Toriko42Same answer.
You would let your country be taken over??? Whatever suits you.Vilot_Hero
Psssh. The usa is an already **** up country. If the U.S.A was attacked, I would laugh, LOUDLY, and wait it out. If it got serious I would move out.

Though I wouldn't die for a fight I had nothing to do with, I wouldn't laugh at my countrymen being killed. :?[QUOTE="lucky326"][QUOTE="-eddy-"] Are we really? Perhaps it's good that citizen have the critic sight to see that you needn't follow your goverment all the way to death.SEANMCADYes, and when the enemy runs over your country how would you react to that? If they do it yours you can be sure they are going to have similar results in other countries. 1. You dont own your country your country owns you so asking to defend it is asking to defend those who rule over you. 2. I think it was Jefferson that said the goverment should be over turned every 20 years or so. What exactly do you think he is saying there? There is nothing illegitimate about being expected to fight for the country that rules over you, what exactly is the problem with that? Governments are part of human nature, and are a sign of human intelligence. People always organize to improve their lives. Government is responsible for all of the development of human civilization. Because of government and business organizations, we have clothes on our backs, food on our plates that we didn't have to hunt for ourselves, cars, computers, this forum, and all the other amenities that people's lives revolve around nowadays. There is always a contract between a citizen and their government, and people have always accepted that contract because the benefits of doing so make it worthwhile. IF someone doesn't like that contract, they're free to live in the woods and make their own clothes, find their own food, build their own shelters, and defend themselves from animals and other people who have chosen to live outside of civilization. Most people, however, wouldn't survive 3 weeks in that situation. I apologize, but i'm not sure what you're getting at by referencing Jefferson. Jefferson was a strong anti-federalist (until he became President, that is) who, like many early Americans, was wary of a monarchical, autocratic government taking shape. He wanted a Republican system where elected officials had limited terms so no single person or group could be in office long enough to assume total power. That's what he meant by that statement, but i'm not sure how that ties as justification for poor citizenship.
"People always talk about dieing for their country, but never killing for their country."
I would kill for my country until I died if that answer your questions however I wouldn't do anything stupid that could get me killed before I accomplished anything, and I wouldn't go out until I couldn't physically fight anymore.
No, americia is not that great
jaqulle999
Of course it's great well except for the democrats being in power!!QQ!!!!!:?
Depends who was attacking, if the invading country was to bring Communism to my country I would help them but if there invanding for land, oil and anything else I would stay and fight them.Communist_Soulso...much...wrong. I'm guessing you're some 15 year old punk that has no idea what the real world is like.
Its the same as why I do not support the war in Iraq, and while i hate when american soldiers are killed,I understand why the iraqis are fighting and do not hate them for it. It has nothing to do with terrorism and everything to do with occupation.
I am not a soldier. I would never join an army, either to invade or defend here. I want nothing to do with war. But if we were to be invaded I would make some calls, get some equipment, and woe any foreign invader who walked into my little corner of the country, I would show them what insurgency is. It has nothing to do with patriotism,or how the country treats me,or who runs it.
This physical land belongs to me and my family and has for 4 generations, and I will fight, kill, and if need be die to protect that.
thats reality.
[QUOTE="Franko_3"]I would never die for Canada... Maybe for democracy (kinda like ww2) or for Quebec (french canadian province).Bigg_BoiQuebec!? Hell I'd fight to kick them out of Canada! Can't stand those Quebecois... This is why Quebec is still in Canada I guess, Freud said that hate is the most solid relationship.

People have been taught that Freud was right and there is no point to argue with him. It's kinda sad

Why bring Darwin into this? We study Darwin because he discovered the central theory of modern biology, disputed by a grand total of 0 respectable biologists.
How come it's a PITA to post pictures on this site?
Anyhow, do a search on "Arbeit marcht frei" if you want to see what happens to a people who chooses not to fight.
