Why would it bother you?Pvt_r3d

see, these kind of questions bother me.

this "blissful ignorance" I call unconditional acceptance. We should not accept everything at face value. A woman with a missing hand that mourns its loss would definately not be ok for me to date.

having only one hand is definately a handicap, a setback...a problem. Someone with one hand is literally less capable at certain tasks than someone with two hands. Sorry, but its the truth.

The important thing is how the person copes, adapts, and makes the best of this shortcoming. I think walking around and pretending its not a problem is silly; walking around and overcoming the problem is much more admirable, and I would most definately date someone who had that kind of personality.

I don't really care about physical apperance, though typically the girls I like ARE pretty hot with both arms, lol. The brain is the sexist part of the body, I doubt I would care.

But their personality would be different at the time of amputation and the time they overcome the hardships.

I wouldn't care, if I liked her enough and she was cute I don't see a problem, who cares if she can't do certain things, it's not like she's deaf and dumb or something.

Are you dating her just because she is hot? Hand or no hand, that doesn't matter, make sure you like everything else about her.

Does she wear a prosthetic hand? Just a wrist with a big scar on it would freak me out, personally. But that'd be my only problem with the idea.

Or if she just cut her hand off fresh and she was bleeding all over you. That'd be a problem too.

Well, to me, missing a hand and having just a stump in place is a big turn-off, physically. When looking for a woman to date, I would want her to have all her limbs.

That's not to say I'd dump a woman I fell in love with her and we got married and THEN she lost her hand in a freak accident, since I was able to fall in love with her and connect with her before losing the hand. But if looking for a girl, I would want her to look physically attractive, and missing a hand is a turn-off to me, so therefore I would probably avoid dating her.

There is this girl at the Target near me and she is pretty hot but she only has one hand. I think from an accident or something or maybe she was born like it. Would you guys date a one handed-girl? I don't think she's slow either.

Unless missing a hand cause some serious handikap and she needs help with absolutely everything, I don't see a reason to why not. horgen123

Pretty much this. As long as she's capable of getting around on her own and doesn't really need a Two-Hander to take care of her, then I'd be fine with dating a one-handed girl.

How do I not deserve a one-handed girl?

I had second thoughts on my post, but looks like its too late now. She shouldn't be with a guy that is constantly worried about how they look together. Whoever she dates shouldn't care about the fact she is missing a hand. You shouldn't care about our opinion about whether or not its okay to date someone with a missing hand.

Come on, now. It's not like we're talking about marriage. We're just talking about them starting to date each other. Either he'll get over the hand or he won't, but we're talking about a missing hand. That's certain to affect the relationship in some ways, and there's nothing wrong with the guy questioning whether or not he thinks that'll be a dealbreaker. At least he's willing to try out a relationship with her, whereas many men wouldn't even give her the time of day.

Hm, missed that post earlier. The fact that she's missing a hand and that she's "hot" shouldn't really be a factor in his decision, one way or another. One could say you single-handedly hit the nail right on the head.

Well, physical attraction is important. There are a few people here who think it's just disgusting that he'd consider not dating the girl because she's missing a hand, and I don't agree with that sentiment. As far as attraction goes, this isn't that much different than if she were fat, ugly, or had a flat bony butt. That's just not what some people go for.

And again, let's reiterate that they haven't even started dating. She's not his girlfriend, and they're not engaged. He's not going to know everything else about her, much less liking it. And if they date long enough, he WILL discover things about her that he doesn't like. But dating her initially isn't about most of that stuff, since he doesn't know most of that stuff.
