see, these kind of questions bother me.
this "blissful ignorance" I call unconditional acceptance. We should not accept everything at face value. A woman with a missing hand that mourns its loss would definately not be ok for me to date.
having only one hand is definately a handicap, a setback...a problem. Someone with one hand is literally less capable at certain tasks than someone with two hands. Sorry, but its the truth.
The important thing is how the person copes, adapts, and makes the best of this shortcoming. I think walking around and pretending its not a problem is silly; walking around and overcoming the problem is much more admirable, and I would most definately date someone who had that kind of personality.
