To justify my last post before someone calls me inhuman, if my dog were somehow hanging over a cliff, I would probably be running after her and trying to catch her before I notice that there is another person hanging lower. I would probably yell for help, but by the time I get my dog, the person would have fallen and died (?).
I generally don't care about people that aren't close to me so I would probably grab my dog since you know it did cost me money and I have invested a lot in it.

Agreed how did Joey fall of in the first place? I have no more interest in my species, state, town, or country then any other so I'd save my dog, well for me it would be my cat. Also it says he is further down meaning there would be more danger to me and more likely that he would fall by the time I reach him.

Then you don't know how pets work, sir. My dog is never on a leash, it runs around in our backyard and in our house. Speak for yourself. My dog works the coal mines.
I guess its only fair I save the guy since he has a LOT more life to live then my middle aged dog has. Don't want to ruin the chance that he discovers the cure for cancer or something.

I'd go and get a smarter breed of dog if my dog fell off a cliff. As for the person that depends on if someone is capturing me walking away on their cell phone or not. Which case i would take their phone so they could save him.
Unless they were a relative or friend I would save my dog and I'm dead serious about that. My dog has been a better companion and friend then most people. I owe it to him.

I had dogs in my family as a kid but never paid much attention to them. A few years ago my wife and I got a dog. Our dog turned out to be quite special. Different than most dogs. It's difficult to explain but anyone who has spent any time with him knows what I'm talking about. This changed my views not only on pets, but animals in general. He has become literally a member of my family. So to bring some understanding, just think about someone you care about and love.
