I see ads on TV for vacationing in Mexico, and I have to laugh because whenever I hear anyone talk about Mexico it's to say how awful it is there.

I've vacationed in Mexico several times. Beautiful country in many spots. If you're going to categorize the entire country by looking at the border you may as well say the same thing and bring up Detroit as an example of why not to vacation in the US. HoolaHoopMan
This is correct. :)
yeah, I have been there 4 times. 2 of those times in the past 6 years. my experiences have been mostly good, but I wouldnt recommend going to "Rocky Point". It's a real dump. But Cabo San Lucas is pretty nice. Stayed there last time (in 2009) at an all-inclusive resort. We got a great deal. Cabo has some other fun things to do like Jet Skiis, Zipline, and Clubs (like Squid row).
Are you serious ? :?

If you ignore the completely lop-sided scale issues. And the spreading violence. And the kidnappings throughout the nation. And the Indian rebels. And the growing threat of governmental breakdown. etc. etc. Not all of Mexico is dangerous, but it's laughable to say anyone can go willy-nilly about without cause for concern so long as they ignore the northern-most twenty miles.
Absolutley. I've been there several times and have nothing bad to say about it. Granted I didn't go to tour, I went to relax. If you don't leave the resort you have nothing to worry about. The food is good and the people on the resort are friendly. It's the same thing with Jamaica as well. The people there are the friendliest people you could ever meet as long as you don't leave the hotel.
Paranoid much? Easy to say when you don't live within sight of Juarez. :roll:I was born in Dallas but moved to south Florida and recently I drove passed juarez (well what I could see across the way) and even though I'd seen it before, it didn't look like much fun. At least the Taco Cabana was good :) I'm not judging Mexico by a couple of areas, but it's just not my thing.[QUOTE="N-REAL"] [QUOTE="PS2_ROCKS"][QUOTE="Verge_6"]

There are parties on both extremes regarding this (It's only the border cities vs. It's all of Mexico), and neither of them are aware of the situation. Not all of Mexico is being encompassed by the growing violence, but I can tell you right now that you sure as hell aren't in a land of teletubbies and rainbow-vomiting unicorns the moment you get ten miles past the border.[QUOTE="N-REAL"] Paranoid much?achilles614
Not right now. Not with the Mexiacan Army fighting the drug Cartels. (drug lords). Mind you, thats only in some of Mexico, and is closer to the US/Mexico Border.I see ads on TV for vacationing in Mexico, and I have to laugh because whenever I hear anyone talk about Mexico it's to say how awful it is there.

Again, Juarez doesn't represent an entire nation. The same could be said from a bunch of Canadians living across from Detroit telling everyone not to vacation in the US because of the all poverty, crime, and corruption in their backyard. It's god damned retarded.[QUOTE="HoolaHoopMan"]If you're going to categorize the entire country by looking at the border you may as well say the same thing and bring up Detroit as an example of why not to vacation in the US.Verge_6

Just because your cozy vacation spots that you've visited a few times aren't presently dangerous doesn't mean that the entire nation save for a few miles south of the border is a lovey-dovey fairy-tale.[QUOTE="Verge_6"]

You've mentioned Juarez and used it as an example of how big of a **** stain the country is. You used it as your own personal ANECDOTAL evidence.
And never did I say that Mexico is crime free, or some paradise where no harm can come to you. Obviously the country has some major problems. However your "Texan" advice of needing an AK anywhere in Mexico is still god damned retarded.
1) Your attitude. Check it. 2) Intentional hyperbole. Learn it. 3) Putting words into other people's mouths. Don't do it. 4) You used your experience at Mexican vacation resorts as anecdotal evidence that Mexico is just fine, or you presented it as such.I have vacationed in Mexico before and I liked it a lot. Have family in Juarez too. Spent a week there for my brother's wedding and it was quite a fun/spooky experience -- especially after seeing the corny Mexican soap opera look-alike wedding video months later being juxtaposed with the conversation other people watching it are having about several people in the video dying or being severely injured mostly due to being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
If you go there again, go to a place called Casa de Manuel Gomez at the southern edge. The best Mexican food you will ever taste.I have vacationed in Mexico before and I liked it a lot. I'm not putting words in your mouth at all.
"As a Texan, I say, emphatically, "**** no". I like seeing AKs when they're mounted on my wall, not when I'm looking down the barrel of one in the hands of a cartel member," - As a response to "Would you Vacation in Mexico".
and again..
"Easy to say when you don't live within sight of Juarez."
Yes I've stayed In a few resorts, I've also stayed in REAL mexican cities and not some secluded western resort. However no where in this thread have I tried to argue that Mexico is a crime free paradise based on MY personal anecdotal evidence. My initial post is quite evident of this.

It's a well known fact that the cartels are present throughout Mexico, and abductions and killings have occurred throughout as well. How much? Enough to legitimately cause concern and worry. Now, point out where I said ALL of Mexico was like that, please. I used Juarez as an extreme-case scenario, and I've already mentioned it was intentional hyperbole, so you might wanna try again. :) If you're not arguing that all of Mexico is safe, then why are you arguing with someone who is claiming that not all of Mexico is dangerous? ;)d[QUOTE="Verge_6"] It's a well known fact that the cartels are present throughout Mexico, and abductions and killings have occurred throughout as well. What, so is claiming Hyperbole your get out of Jail free card now? There's no real point in arguing with someone who can write legitmately stupid **** and then back track and say they were merely exagerated/joking. Depicting an entire nation, and Mexico at that, as some country that requires armed guard at all times in all places is a pretty stupid. I think it's quite clear that your opinions on the matter are more than "hyperbole".
I'm done here.
Lol, I never said that Mexico was a nation that required armed guard at all times. Where did I say that? And it seems you're not capable of spouting more than insults. Way to debate, sport. ;)Central America and South America is pretty much at the bottom of my to holiday list.Vesica_PrimeSO what does that have to do with Mexico..........
Maybe. There are too many places I want to go first.
So many, infact, that I doubt I'll make it to Mexico before I die.
lol White folks go to the fake part of Mexico, i have and would again but this was going back to our hometown. [QUOTE="Vesica_Prime"]Central America and South America is pretty much at the bottom of my to holiday list.X360PS3AMD05SO what does that have to do with Mexico..........
Thought Mexico was considered as part of Central America, my mistake.
I've known a lot of people who have vacationed in Mexico, and for the most part, they enjoyed it. However, I always ask of myself, "Why would I want to go to basically a third world country for a vacation? What if, heaven forbid, something happens? Can I really trust their police to help me?" Besides that, there are SO many places within the united states that are just as beautiful as any resorts in Mexico.....AND it's safe to drink the water.
