even if vista was a 10 fps drop it still would be better. people that havent used vista usually trash itj3ninja10Huh?
Something's horribly wrong with your XP then.
And BTW the official drivers for XP are 169.25 and for vista are 169.21 so they are NOT the same drivers.169.25 are simply terrible.

Is this the reason why it's so amazing?
So the multitudes of review site benchmarks are wrong?
Vista isn't bad for gaming, but it certainly isn't better or level with XP. I have been using Vista for the majority of games, has been fine for the most part. I like it much better as an OS besides game usage. Games are much better on XP though. I just got a sound card too, and EAX doesn't work properly at all with games like The Witcher no matter what settings I use in ALchemy. Gets all jacked up after a couple minutes. Works perfectly in XP, and it's a big difference in sound.

So people say Vista sucks right? well it doesnt, let me explain
In vista i ran CS:S benchmark and got 95FPS average,
i did a fresh install of XP on the SAME computer, but this time i overclocked my video card even futher 50mhz more in core and 25 mhz more on memory clock, the resualt on XP?
84
oh and i ran the benchmark multiple times,
why is it that i get better frames in vista?
anyway going back to xp makes me sick now, after you get vista, and get used to it, you realize how much better it is,
thats just my 3 centsRiki101
i dont know guys, for me it droped down hard core, and i was also playing TF2 and saw no improvments in FPS, maybe thoughs benchmarks are old, vista does get updated quite often, and i do have 3 gb of ramRiki101Something is wrong somewhere with your XP.I am running dual boot and know that the benchmarks are not lying.

You could of over overclocked, resulting in actual poorer performance.
Also, that's only one benchmark, not many.

Been a while since I looked but last I checked, all of the updates for Windows XP does not *automatically* include the latest update to the DX9 drivers. You have to go get that manually. I've mentioned this in another thread quite a while ago: The sole act of updating my DX9 drivers from the August '07 to November '07 release got me an extra ~450 in 3DMark06 (from approximately 9320 to 9770). But that of course doesn't translate to some amazingly higher FPS in games. As always its different for different games, but nothing went down. And since some games can be more sensitive to overclocking than others, it's not exactly shocking to run across a situation like this. The only thing to do is run a range of tests under both OSes and come up with a proper table of comparisons.deadfirezero

we've got to keep in mind that your tests merely included counter-strike (and to a lesser extent, TF2, it appears). hell, I wouldn't even notice the FPS difference without FRAPS . . .
so now we want you to test TF2 at stock and overclocked GPU speeds with both xp and vista :P . . . jk
i'm sorry but are your eyes brown becuase your full of sh*t i have windows xp and i just got a new computer 2 8800gts in sli and my buddy has 2 8800gtxs on vista and we both play TF2 and i have 1 more fps then he did in his average if i had 2 8800gtxs in xp it be about 10-15 more so you are lieing vista sucks for gaming as of now i heard reports of microsoft making a gaming OS that would be a good thing to do lets hope they make it.
incase you didnt notice, the 8800gt is close to that of a performance of a gtx. and being that sli is very buggy, i wouldnt be suprised to see that. there is usually a performance drop in vista, but games for the most part are usually still very playable even with 10 fps drop. and the added future proofing of DX10 makes vista a bit better in my eyes. only thing i dont like is how bad cod4 runs for me right now, but thats because my video card is really lacking. as for vista vs. xp out of gaming, i havnt noticed any crashes or problems what so ever. only thing i have done to tweak vista is a new wallpaper and i disabled those annoying permission messages... both of which are very simple to do.i'm sorry but are your eyes brown becuase your full of sh*t i have windows xp and i just got a new computer 2 8800gts in sli and my buddy has 2 8800gtxs on vista and we both play TF2 and i have 1 more fps then he did in his average if i had 2 8800gtxs in xp it be about 10-15 more so you are lieing vista sucks for gaming as of now i heard reports of microsoft making a gaming OS that would be a good thing to do lets hope they make it.

Yeah, I love Vista, its just... prettier.
I'm using Vista 64-bit and it's running most games really well (although, granted, I just build a new system with an 8800GTS G92). However, I have found that Oblivion is constantly stuttering, actually, more like "skipping". It's really strange because I get really good framerates. I hope I can find a solution.BlueBirdTS

It's not a tearing issue. It's as if the game pauses altogether for a split second. I actually had the same issue in Crysis once, but then when I restarted my system, performance was fine again.

Look at his times of his posts, so he took 28 mins to reinstall vista (from xp) update it, install drivers, games. do benchmarks etc.
That or he got some sort of magic version of vista that plays games good.. ;) haha

Vista truly sucks, and benchmarks show that pretty much every game runs better in XP, and performance is only one of the many problems with vista.
Meh, Vista blows donkey *insert prefanity here* IMO. I use it for a lot more then just gaming, so I deal with mad headaches. Which is why my next OS I am ordering is XP Pro 64bit. XP FTW9mmSpliff
i have a dual boot of xp 64 and vista ult 64, i have a 1 sec chose time, because i NEVER boot to vista.

were ALL the settings the same? Were the drivers EXACTLY the same?
Do you think your PERSONAL coppy of vista is somehow faster than all the benchmarks?
Somehow, I too smell bs.
