Usually there are a several RPG's that we PC player's get to look forward to every year. This year is going to be amazing for the RPG genre! The list below is not comprehensive, yet it's amazing how many games are coming out.
- Dragon Age II - what can I say? It's BioWare!
- The Witcher 2 - check out gog.com (good_old_games.com) when buying this game
- The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim - I think I hear the fans screaming already
- Deus Ex - have you seen the trailer? Simply amazing.
- The Dark Eye Drakensang: Phileasson's Secret - the sequel to a game that you either loved or despised
- Mass Effect 3 - two from BioWare in one year? Oh my poor checkbook.
- Fable III - PC players had to wait
- Diablo 3 - not my cup of tea, but it's still very popular
- Neverwinter - Atari is making another stab at the popular D&D genre
- Two Worlds II - The sequel is highly anticipated - though I know little about it
- Star Wars: The Old Republic - Online only RPG. A shame I can't handle any subscription fees. I doubt many others can either.
- Might and Magic: Heros VI - these games never end do they?
- Star Trek Infinite Space - not the online one - this is single player
- Sims Medieval - I don't know if this counts as RPG. But it seems to be more than the "same old" from the SIMS genre.
Competition is going to be steep for the limited wallets of the RPG gamers.
The ever popular DRM subject will probably be instrumental in deciding which games sell the best. On that note, Witcher 2 has already announced that they will be releasing the game without any protection. Not even a disk check. In the annoucement they stated that their fans enjoyment of the game is their highest priority. Companies that respect their consumers already get my vote.
Cheer for your favorite or add any I missed. I only listed the known or big games that are headed our way. Sometimes Indie games can be just as impressive as the big companies.
Let the RPG war begin!
