The only thing I am not sure I like is the spotting multiple enemies feature.  does this mean you just gesture in a direction and anyone onscreen is spotted?

Sounds like it spots enemies within a narrow field of view. Would prevent situations where you see 3 or 4 dudes coming at you and you have to look at each and spot them one at a time. Hopefully the spotting is not excessive though and doesn't show hidden enemies. You get 25 points for spotting now, opposed to the meagre 10 points in BF3. Hopefully it encourages people to spot the Tank sitting in the open....

Yeah I can't wait to be sitting on my iPad while casually commanding players. It's going to be like an RTS where you're units are real people.

natural selection 2 has a system like this (minus the ipad) and it works pretty well, although that is on a much smaller scale. hopefully it still works with 64 players. 

My interest level in this game has been gradually rising as this news is trickling in, its making me want ot reinstall BF3 but I know that will be a mistake. 

Me to. I watched BF4 and the stuff they showed was really cool. Got me excited for it :D

As long as the counter knifing is only from the front, I am very into the concept.

I know BF3 has a glitch where you can tap the knife from certain positions and kill somebody knifing you as long as they have 50% health or below, so it's like they took that concept and made it a badass feature.

Also the third person animations of players flinching and stuff are nice touches, and I'm excited to see what animations they add in.

Are you sure? It shows a guy crouched facing towards the fight, and then someone knifes him from behind. It doesn't show any counter-knifing at all. :/

that's a bug, you can't counter-knife in that position. It wouldn't really make sense either unless you had cat-like reflexes which is inhuman. :P  I mean, if the Dev said you can't.. then you can't.  There's no going around it.  And what you saw was a bug.

Same. Destruction in BF3 was quite under-whelming, as was the ground deformation.

So the skyscraper building, was it scripted to come down or do you have to plant c4 at main supports to bring it down? Either way, it was pretty cool seeing everyone jumping off when the building was about to collapse and even the helicopter shooting at them through the windows.

BF4 has definitely got my attention after seeing some stuff in the MP trailer, wasn't impressed with the single-player  but that's just standard, though I thoroughly enjoyed Bad Company 2's single-player campaign.

it wasn't so much in how they crumbled but  how the maps would change from the beginning of a match to the end. By the end of longer games cover is less plentiful and you need to be careful going into buildings that might collapse. Hearing a building creaking and groaning right before collapsing while you were holed up on the second floor made for some exciting moments.

It added a layer to the gameplay that was largely absent from BF3. I don't think the destruction is as important as some people make it out to be though.

It just occured to me to ask...is Rush in the game?  What  modes are confirmed?  I thnk Rush should be scrapped or a DLC mode for special maps.

I rather have destruction than no destruction at all...

BF3 didn't have enough buildings to blow up so that increased the number of campers...

I imagine it's a response to complaints about people charging at you and surviving your bullets only to forward knife kill you. I've done it to people before so I can imagine how angry they were. "WTF MAN I SHOT YOU HOW DID YOU RUN AT ME AND KNIFE ME?!" So, yeah, I see this as giving those people a fighting chance.

From my personal experience I've never had an issue with this problem. If they usually come at me from a certain distance, they can't stab you but they can spam knife and start swiping at you... which I thought was fair since usually the other person had a primary ready to fire. There were several times when I fired off my gun right when they knifed me (frontal), and they died, even though I should have died from the knife too. I have never died to a frontal knife attack, only from the side-to-back, or right from behind. I think DICE felt like they had to put in something new and I like the idea.

Mmhmm this. Campers galore. Like White_teeth said earlier, BC2-style destruction adds another layer to the gameplay. Don't like that fvker camping up in that building? Blow his ass out of there :D

Blowing up walls isn't the same, difference is the camper wouldn't dare go back to a building that was destroyed, while having holes in the wall means they'll leave and then come back once the coast is clear, or still camp there because they can't be shot at all directions either since they can be covered by walls that can't be destroyed, I've seen that happening many times in BF3 and it's more annoying. I mean look at me proning around a blown up wall where barely anyone can see me and the guy on the side, lol:

Blowing up walls do help but don't get rid of them.

And hilariously enough you showed one of the few maps(like 3) where you can destroy an entire building in the game.

2 new modes revealed!

Now, you may notice that there is a new gamemode called Obliteration.
It seems that Siege is the only map that makes use of that gamemode and currently there is no further information on it (no descriptions, no images, nothing).

Let the speculations begin!

Whilst peeking around I discovered yet another gamemode called Elimination.

Moreover, I found some more info about Obliteration
More specifically, it seems to be a bomb-oriented gamemode (with several drop-offs) with the additional presence of a High Value Target.
Elimination seems like a CS-inspired gamemode, for attracting some attention from the eSports scene.
I haven't found any details at the moment, but the name itself implies that it is DM with no respawns.

Finally, the RU faction is still present in the game, however I cannot confirm if it will be a playable faction (yet).

Good folks over at /r/battlefield_4 have run up a list of all the sweet features of BF4.  Basically, this is what BF3 wanted to be.  It's a true BF2 sequel

Maybe its my cynicism kicking in, but how confident are you that DICE is actually going to bring forth these changes for BF4 if it was promised for BF3? Why do I feel like I'm going to see a similar thread for when we're hyping BF5 in a couple years.

these things were never promised for bf3, and we saw them used live on E3 in BF4

Like Wiseboi said, they were never promised or set in stone in BF3. This time, they set it in stone for BF4. If they change their minds for some holy hell reason, they will get kicked in the ballz.

Why would they remove sway? Without sway, Sniper class would be OP and you will have a BF4-camp-infested game in seconds. Holding a button (holding breath) as a sniper is in like almost every military shooter.

Why would they remove sway? Without sway, Sniper class would be OP and you will have a BF4-camp-infested game in seconds. Holding a button (holding breath) as a sniper is in like almost every military shooter.

No matter what they do, camp soup of snipers will always be in a game such as BF. Sway wasn't in BC2 and had tones of sniper camping, BF3 had sway and had as much if not more snipers (even when BF3's recon suck compared to BC2's one), sway isn't something that will change the amount of players playing  recon... its just annoying, very very annoying and not needed mechanic. Leave to Arma or crappy CoD

Pardon me. I played quite a bit of BC2 (200 hours or so), but I never played sniper. :P I thought it had sway too. Fair enough mate. I just think that sway adds a layer to the Sniper class so players cant just be trigger happy all the time.

Pardon me. I played quite a bit of BC2 (200 hours or so), but I never played sniper. :P I thought it had sway too. Fair enough mate. I just think that sway adds a layer to the Sniper class so players cant just be trigger happy all the time.

BC2 has sway on some rifles, but the popular bolt rifle which everyone uses, does not have sway.

2 new modes revealed!

Now, you may notice that there is a new gamemode called Obliteration.
It seems that Siege is the only map that makes use of that gamemode and currently there is no further information on it (no descriptions, no images, nothing).

Let the speculations begin!

Whilst peeking around I discovered yet another gamemode called Elimination.

Moreover, I found some more info about Obliteration
More specifically, it seems to be a bomb-oriented gamemode (with several drop-offs) with the additional presence of a High Value Target.
Elimination seems like a CS-inspired gamemode, for attracting some attention from the eSports scene.
I haven't found any details at the moment, but the name itself implies that it is DM with no respawns.

Finally, the RU faction is still present in the game, however I cannot confirm if it will be a playable faction (yet).

If elimination is a no respawn type mode as rumored, I really hope DICE has rebalanced things to make it work.

Having a helicopter or two might make it impossible for infantry to survive, whereas the Medic class (or Assault if Assault is still the medic) can keep reviving teammates so nobody dies if they don't do something like limit revives or change how revives work or whatever.

DICE tends to halfass game modes that aren't Rush or Conquest (such as CTF and Gun Game), so hopefully they've given a lot of thought into the game modes here.

DICE tends to halfass game modes that aren't Rush or Conquest (such as CTF and Gun Game), so hopefully they've given a lot of thought into the game modes here.

I just hope they stop making russian enemies with silly accents and go back to MEC.

It'd be also cool if they didn't make awful maps like metro and seine crossing.

Honestly, BF4 seems like a expansion to BF3. I probably won't pick it up for a long time.

I just wish that Dice and EA would put a limit on the the DLC palooza that BF3 had. How is it fair that DLC content by itself (combined) includes more weapons/maps than the vanilla version? It even has a new game mode. This is what really pissed me off when I bought the so called, 'Standard Edition'. What bullshit. If they are going to do the same with BF4, than the standard version should be a demo by itself.

Just wait, the current Pre-order edition of BF4 will be botched once again by another DLC-fest compilation pack by the end of its lifespan.

If it's like Team Deathmatch then expect not to be able to revive that fast at all.
