Almost 5 years since Half Life 2 Episode 2

Do people still care? At this point its pretty much a 100% chance that episode 3 will be half life 3 running on a new engine (source is outdated). Portal 2 is supposed to give us more info,.. hopefully. What I'm hoping for is a 40 hour game, the first 10 hours being Halfe Life 2 episode 3, then an awesome transition and the last 30 hours being Half Life 3. Half Life 2 was the best looking game of its time, will half life 3 do the same? What are your thoughts?

And a 40 hour campaign? Dreaming. I don't think HL1 was even that long.

Come on, 3 and a half years are nowhere near 5:P

I'd be perfectly happy without a new Half-Life.

Valve are waiting for Gearbox to release Duke Nukem Forever. They can take all the great ideas from that game and be inspired to create ultra levels of interactivity. nutcrackr

I still want it, but I quit caring about it a long time ago. Too many games that are actually coming out.

I have lost all interest in HL games, but on the day of reckoning when it does finally come, I will indeed play it, whatever it is

Still hopping, waiting for episode 3..

What I would really want however, is Half-Life 3.

I disagree, and Portal 2 looks to possibly be their best game yet IMO.

Can't be excited when there hasn't been any news. Me thinks HL:EP3 will get released either on 2013 (15 year anniversary of HL) or 2014 (10 year anniversary of HL2) with news on it coming this year or next year. On the lighter side of things at least Valve Time (while more unpredictable) tends to be shorter than Blizzard Time.

I still want to see it's release more than any other game. Also, for all the people feeling abandoned by Valve, come on now. It's the freaking half-life series, Valves bread and butter, they have plans, and I'm sure they are very VERY big plans if we haven't even heard a snippet of news. Can you imagine getting news as big as when HL2 was announced?

Story-wise, didn't they have to release Portal 2 first?
Episode 3 is going to be focused around an Aperture Science boat (among other things), so there's a good chance that Portal 2 will be setting the scene...

Anyway, I'm still looking forward to Episode 3. Valve don't disappoint, and it's usually the case that the longer they take, the better the game.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if they release a Episode 3 teaser trailer right after Portal 2's release. Perhaps that's what the ARG is all about.

5 years? Not really.

However the gap between Half-Life 2 and 3 is now pushing 7 years which is longer than the gap between the original Half-Life and Half-Life 2.

Indeed, when's L4D4 coming out then?

I just wish Valve will concentrate all their development on the next Counter Strike. Someone need to end the freaking Call of Duty and Battlefield series.

I think most people don't care anymore... Until Valve announcens the whole thing with screens and stuff, and the whole community melts into a nuclear abyss of hype. (probably deserved hype)

I don't think they ever officially announced an episode 3 anyway, and it's been rumored for a while now that they were simply going to move on to Half Life 3.

I've lost interest.. in saying that though it's hard to have an interest in something that for all intents and purposes doesn't exist (to the public at least).

Also I suppose there's a good chance we may see some more plot development in Portal 2.

If it comes out I will buy it if not what ever its not my favoirite game.

Episode 2 was announced way back in late 2006, if I remember correctly. It was supposed to released in the spring of 2007, but was pushed back to the fall.

More like 3.5 years.

Regardless, I love Half-Life, but until more information is released, I have other games to look forward to.
