ooooh felip!!! it seems somebody forgot to administer your meds to you.. i intend to rectify that

andwhats this gw generic un-hardcoreness you speak of. the [WAR]machine and the [lazy] nation beg to differ. you go over to china and guildwars is STILL advertised on videocard boxes. the same cant be said for WoW which stopped as of 2 gens ago. here are some terrifying stats about ncsoft games that i doubt you knew

1 in 3 koreans have an account for lineage 1 & 2

as stated above guildwars is still advertised despite being ages old

there are monthly tournaments that are not region specific.

they continue to add new content to the game and this year MAILED CUSTOM christmas cards to anyone who still operates and active account, i know i have one

guildwars will forever be one of (if not) the very best online rpg ever made

[QUOTE="FelipeInside"][QUOTE="Kh1ndjal"]the problem isn't so much with the games that you described as it is with the people describing them. people who make a lot of noise on the extreme ends tend to get heard and remembered more. this will FAIL that will be the new KING, words like this get thrown around too much. also, everyone has a different interpretation of king and fail. anyone that said bf3 would destory mw3 was right and wrong. bf3 is a hundred times better so i don't care if people don't play or abandon it because as far as i'm concerned i can log onto any server and i will enjoy it infinitely more than i would mw3. personally, i believe that guild wars was a better online experience than wow (during guildwars' peak) so i have little doubt that guild wars 2 will also be awesome. i'm not expecting giant FAILS or guildwars to DETHRONE wow. i do believe that it will clearly be the better game.

Thing is, you can't really compare WoW to GW1. They aren't the same genre. I also don't like to compare BF3 to CoD cause they play so different.

then we shouldn't compare games at all unless their names start with call of duty. i mean, what should we compare gw to? it's not a hacknslash, it's not an mmo, it's not a single player rpg, what the hell is it? also, if you don't like comparing bg3 to cod because they play so differently (despite being the same genre) then what do you compare bf3 to, apart from OTHER games in the battlefield series?

ionusX, Guild Wars is indeed one of the best online RPGs ever made. Whether it is the depth, the lack of a gear treadmill or the overall finely crafted and polished game design. The game still sells, remember the summer sale last year? Good games sell still after a long time, Guild Wars is one of them. Btw, it is nice to see you again ionusX :)

And no Jabby250, I am not thinking about you or any other Bandodgers in my freetime, I was laughing my arse off when you said that GW was a generic mmo. Such an absurd statement is difficult to forget. Just like that article comparing EvE online to WoW.

They still fall into the same genre, sure they are different but they have to be placed somewhere, people will compare WoW to Guild Wars 2 just as people did with Guild Wars 1.

Yes I know, it's just hard to compare them since one is always instanced and the other is a constant world. It's really hard to find something to compare GW1 against since it's like a hybrid RPG-MMO-Online

You can compare some aspects of Guild Wars to other games. But as a whole package, it is quite difficult to find something to compare it to properly. There really isnt anything like it.
