[QUOTE="gfile"]Why arent youmade your profile, yet:question: I really want to know who am i talking to?;)[QUOTE="BTOG46"]Have you tried the freeware games, John DeFoe(aka Trilby) series, 5 Days a Stranger, 7 Days a Sceptic, Trilby's Notes, and 6 days a sacrifice. The time line needs to be followed, so you must play them in that order.BTOG46
I haven't made a profile yet simply because I'm busy looking after 2 websites, helping people on the ubi forums, and the Settlers 6 beta forum, and trying to cope with msn, and my emails. on top of all that.....well I'm a bit lazy, but I'm what my user name stands for, a Bad Tempered Old Git. and I live in the north east of England
I'll have to try and update my details on Gamespot, all I have are some basic ones and some of the games I own.
Sorry for bothering you with my own s**t ,my friendplayed syberia 2, game is ok but i never end it, stuck in mines...my wife played it, only game she has ever played:)Syberia 1 is really good IMO just cos its so calming. and the only time you should actually get stuck is once near the beginning
& once at the very last level. won't spoil it though. But the game is really short.
DrDoomed
i rather prefered horror, not fantasy word kind of...
[QUOTE="AdrianWerner"]Played MYST IV, story is ok, but has no life in it, everything is so static, but thnxfrom the last 5 years the best ones were IMO:
Syberia 1-2
Myst IV-V
Moment of Silence
Broken Sword 3-4
Penumbra
Sherlock Holmes: the Awakened
Destination: Treasure Island
Dark Fall 1-2
Sam and Max: Season 1
ShivahCal1n
MYST! Go for those ones. You'll love them.
Syberia 1 & 2 were both great. Playing Sam & Maxx season 1 right nowa great game. The Longest Journey and its sequel are good. I agree with everyone else about the games they have mentioned. Check out www.adventuregamers.com, or www.justadventure.com they pretty much discuss nothing but point and click games. senemutTHNX for info;)
There's always Call of Cthuhlu: Shadow of the Comet and Prisoner of Ice, if you prefer horror-themed adventure games. They might be abandonware, I'm not sure.
I've heard that Sanatarium is quite creepy, too.

Did anybody played games like phantasmagoria(s), gabriel knight(s), blade runner? Inthose gamescharacters are real movie actors acting at rendered backgrounds, like watching a good horror movie, butactually making a change in it.Phantasmagoria had several different endings...Gabriel knight 2: the beast within was and were my number 1 game, the storywas a master piece:!This GREY METTER game will be awesome, but still shame not to have live actors as characters..
gfile
Yeah I remember Phantasmagoria it wasn't that good I seem to remember, it was all movie cut scenes!! Bladerunner on the other hand was pretty amazing for it's time, If you loved the film it was a must play. I was thinking of getting Bladerunner again, it's on eBay really cheap, but I think playing it again might ruin the memory.
Have to say that Escape from Monkey Island was my favourite point and click I used to play it on my brother's Amiga 500+ Those were the days!!!

Escape from Monkey Island (MI4) came out in 2000. :P You must be thinking of one of the earlier, much better games.

Yep that's right it was the Secret of Monkey Island (1990) and then Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge (1991). Monkey Island 2 was like the biggest game ever at the time. Quality games!!

:cry:phantasmagoria has several endings witch is great, Monkey island(s)are great, yes, but i want that spooky atmosphere like Gabriel Knight have, thoe never played first gabriel knight, and the third was rather a dissapointment;)Then definitely play GK1, unless you want something more recent.
Thinking about that, Zork Nemesis and Discworld Noir had some strong horror elements (and aren't horribly dated).
People thougt i loved playing in dos mode, thats not true...games runs on 640x480 res on high, i wanna make point that these games now dont have that atmosphere and music which is composed for game exlusively.
Call of chtulu, silent hill(s) are rather too sick then to had a good story:P

I miss the good old days...with RPG/Adventure titles that lasted hours and hours...days and days, with high replay values. Nowadays you beat a single player game and usually don't touch it for at least a week or two.
Is Dreamfall / The Longest Journey any good? It looked pretty cool to me. How long's the main campaign last?
yeah, when ive got game that is realy good i finish it too early, etc MOHA, takes me 2 days of playing, but playing adventure ocupy you much longer...I miss the good old days...with RPG/Adventure titles that lasted hours and hours...days and days, with high replay values. The Longest Journey was fairly long - it could easily take you...20-30 hours, first time through without a guide. Dreamfall was shorter (with a very open ending), but I think that it was better than the first.

The game didn't look "violent"..but still looks really fun.

^^ You're thinking of Circle of Blood (later called Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars). That was pretty good, but I hated the sequal.
I've been playing the third one recently...but it feels a bit boring, and I haven't bothered to finish it yet. :(
Now playing Broken Sword 4, it dont have no charm at all, sadly, too much running and jumping for point and click, but puzzles are OK, nostalgia, yes..maybe:P^^ You're thinking of Circle of Blood (later called Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars). That was pretty good, but I hated the sequal.

Yea iv got the latest one too...doesnt really feel the same playing it nowadays. i think it was because when i was a kid, ANY game would wow me. But now im no longer ignorant to the tedious tasks that some games lay before you, as opposed to when i was a kid, i loved the repetition and random puxzzles.

well put acutally - its was the charm wasnt it :D with a beautiful story to match. Chasing some clown dude around the world, jumping through hotel windows and the sense of achievement when completing a task. I think i may give the latest one another shot, but like you said, its too much keyboard based, and jumping, gets on my nerves...i get a bit of nostalgia because the main guy is still there...edward is it?
Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis, Day of the tentacle, Grim Fandango are all classics that everybody should own.zeus_gb
I warmed me heart and soul to see Grim Fandango make it to the first page. That is easily my favorite game of the genre I've ever played. Curse of Monkey Island comes in as a close second, but nothing has been able to touch GF for me.:)

I'll take that any day over gratuitous violence. I'm playing Dreamfall now, and so far it doesn't seem to be as deep of a story line, but I'm only in chapter 1 so I'm hoping that will change.
If you havn't already you should get SCUMMVM and/or Dosbox and head over to www.The-underdogs.info and get you some good ol' DOS abandonware games. Some of the best games ever made IMO. Games like Beneath a Steel Sky, the Monkey Island series, and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, to name a few, have enthralled me just as much if not more so than any modern game could.narf101I am not DOS nostalgic...i am dying for something new, but with charm...please my friend, read my other comments or see my blog;)

I wasn't much of a DOS nostalgic either and still find most older games pretty boring. But I bet you $20 on Paypal that if you hanvn't played Beneath a Steel Sky yet and give it a shot, you will enjoy it just as much as any modern adventure game.
