How is the peformance of L.A Noire on the PC? Is it similar to GTAIV in terms of being full of technical issues or does it run ok?
HyperWarlock
Fixed.
meh, I just dont want to shell money out for a day 1 price for a game that needs a bunch of patches.it doesnt sound too bad, according to rockpapershotgun. Having toruble linking, but check it out. And its funny how its sunk in the game was overated now that the hype has died down, but I have a soft spot for the genre.

The hidden object genre? :P
I wasn't aware the game releases now. My November shopping list just reached critical mass.
lol, i was thinking adventurePicked it up this morning at Best Buy, installing it now. As part of the install there is a mandatory update patch (the booklet even tells you so).
Edit: Best Buy, not Fry's
Hmm.. maybe because i bought it off GMG, which is a European site... oh well.my steam shows it as available... are you guys in the uk?

I've been playing the retail version for about an hour and have yet to come across any glichtes or bugs yet. As I mentioned you will have to update the game with a patch prior to playing, I wouldn't doubt that there may be patches in the future. Smooth sailing, but this is a rockstar game so I'm anticipating something that will need to be patched.
[QUOTE="TerrorRizzing"]Hmm.. maybe because i bought it off GMG, which is a European site... oh well. I saw some people talking about that on Facebook and GMG said they had that fixed, but they we US customers. You may want to tell them on their FB page and see if you can have something done about the issue as well. Even though they are a European company, they say they like to give people their games on their respective release dates.my steam shows it as available... are you guys in the uk?

Watched my friend play a little on 360, and it seems actually quite shallow compared to all the hype about it.
He beat the game and was like yeah, its way too easy, and likes to hold your hand through it. Also says there is hardly any replay value, that Mafia II had better replay value.
I (personally) can't disagree with him, because from what I saw of it, that seems to be the case, not really something I am gonna buy, much less spend $50-$60 on.
Why you people keep posting here just by reading the thread title? He asked the optimization of the game but all you saying is "I have played it on 360", "Yeah I finished it 6 months ago". And don't you think why would someone open a thread about it after 6 months on pc section? (Yes I am mad)murekkepIt's his fault he made the thread title and OP different. He is asking 2( as in two, as in more than one but les than three) questions. It's not that big of a deal, and last time I checked you are not the forum police.

Yeah, at first I just saw the email that said it was coming out on the 11th, but I logged in to GMG later and realized I could download the game now. Should be done in a little bit... I seem to have all sorts of weird performance issues with certain games these days, so if there's a problem with L.A. Noire, I'll prob notice it right away :)my steam shows it as available... are you guys in the uk?

Alright kiddies, here's my initial verdict: awful port job.
Took me 10 mins worth of crashing at startup to actually get into the game. If you do get it, I recommend not using the launcher options to set your graphical settings. Just use the default, since you can change all those options in-game and it's less temperamental that way. The in-game patcher (I'm not using Steamworks) doesn't work. I had to execute the patch manually out of the game to get it to patch, and the patcher still seemed to crash afterwards. Did it work? Well I'm not really sure.
Even with 2x anti-aliasing @ 1080p, the game is heavily pixelated. I know some forms of AA do a poor job of edge-softening, and whatever they're using appears to be one of them. Graphically, the game looks pretty terrible and I doubt I'm getting over 30 fps, with some stuttering. I have the game pretty much maxed, but I barely noticed a performance difference when messing with the settings. Since you can compare this game's graphics almost directly to Mafia II... well that just blows this game out of the water graphically.
The system I have is an OC'ed Phenom II X3 720, 8 GB DDR, 1 GB 6950.
The game itself is pretty cool already, though. Searching for clues, flipping through my notebook, investigatin... stuff. I imagine it'll get much more intricate as time goes on. And good lord, the face animations are spectacular.
Post pics, also, wow...Alright kiddies, here's my initial verdict: awful port job.

Did you try forcing AA? That might work better than their AA.Alright kiddies, here's my initial verdict: awful port job.

Tried to force AA through my ATI control panel and it didn't seem to do... anything. Can't see my framerate or get screenshots because FRAPS doesn't seem to want to work with this game :|
The patch starts downloading automagically when you start the game, and saves to the main game dir. I had to launch the patch exe manually to get it to apply.
its garbage
the graphics are terrible, its optimized worse than GTA4, the AA sucks, the controls suck
seriously Rockstar make me sick, they give PC the worst ports of all time and wonder why they dont sell, hurr durr piracy, Rockstar leeds did an awful job, outsource it to someone with a brain

yeah like GTA4, it doesnt work with AA (lol DX9)
once again modders have to try and fix it
I rarely pre-order PC games now either. You can just buy most of them these days online, however it's companies like DICE and EA which piss me off by taking out content and keeping it aside for a few months from the consumer and releasing it seperate, charging people extra for it or giving it to people who actually did preorder it.thank god i stopped pre-ordering games after da:2

it sounds mostly alright for most, but I cant get the retail version to launch on windows 7, two different computers...

I've played the game on console, sold it, and rebought it on the PC. While it's not the best of ports, I think it's miles better than the GTA4 port. The game is stable, controls well, and bearing the 30FPS framerate cap, it's not a bad port. It runs fine on my PC and the Fraps counter is present, too. Now, only if they can get rid of the framerate cap...
