No more Captain Price.

One of COD4's two heroes, Sergeant "Soap" MacTavish, has been promoted to captain in the Special Air Services (SAS), Britain's equivalent of the US Navy SEALs. Now part of a new commando unit, MacTavish will guide players through a series of grueling missions, including an ice-climbing infiltration of a frozen Russian army base.

On the other hand...

Once again, political instability inside a fictional near-future Russia threatens the world--this time, in the form of a terrorist organization hinted at by a March teaser trailer.

I hope it's Russia/CIS only. I don't want anymore of that Middle East crap, although I agree the satire in COD4 was good.

In terms of gameplay, Modern Warfare 2 will address the issue of infinitely spawning enemies, a major criticism of the original game.

Yay.

If they get rid of the infinite enemies, thats a big improvement. But my issue was COD4 was the online. It was laggy, and i hated the perks. I don't want perks. remove those and i'm happy

I am sad...Captain Price is gone :( I do hope they can give MacTavish a voice now. Having a mute hero kinda sucks IMO. Yay for infinite number of enemies being addressed. But I am also still concerned about the perks in multiplayer. Martyrdom being the biggest one. Oh and make the weapons more realistic, meaning no more kills for just spamming the LMG/SMG/rifle from the hip and killing stuff 15 feeet away...

You can't keep a character around forever. Although I did like Cpt. Price I think it's possible that 4 years later he has probably been promoted to a position off the frontlines/battlefield.

They won't do it. Besides, people would find something else to complain about. They could definitely spend more time balancing the perks though.
he died at the end of COD4, so I don't quite get how anyone even expected him to return in the first place?
I love all of the Call of Duty games, every single one of them were great in their own way, they have flaws like every other game but COD will always rule the Multiplayer segment even if the story was completely ridiculous.

If Infinity Ward makes the following changes then I will be ecstatic about this game:

- Get rid of infinitely spawning enemies in single player

- Modernize the save system

- Make the game longer than 5 hours

- Fix the spawn system in multiplayer

- Fix the lag issues in multiplayer. At the very least fix bullet lag, I'm tired of dumping half a clip into a guy and not getting a single tick.

- Get rid of the 3x frag perk. I don't care about martyrdom. I don't care about SP/Juggernaut. The only one that I want to see die is 3x frag because it does nothing except encourage people to blind throw grenades all over the map for the duration of the match.

Well, I know CPR, and I will tell you that CPR isn't a magic tool that saves everything. If the dude got shot a couple of times and doens't get medical attention (professional) he will die. And performing CPR on someone who has been shot will just make them bleed more. And I wonder if that was his grandpa in ww2? Na defiantly not, because you don't inherit your fathers last name

yes, he does die, if you look at him the entire time, the guy is doing cpr then he just starts punching his chest and then put his head down, as in he died.

The COD4 was quite entertaining but i wish it would be less linear, it would be fun to have several ways in which to approach a mission instead of having to do the same thing you did last time over and over. Infinite enemy spawns and indestructible helicopters blow the realism too. You can only kill the helicopter if Price is screaming at you to do it.

if you don't want perks, play battlefield 2 or cs source. perks are awesome. while i do agree they should balance out perks....you can deal with martyrdom...i still think juggernaut and stopping power should cancel each other out...that wasn't the case in cod waw.

I thought CoD4 to be one of the most over-rated games.. With a completely subpar singleplayer littered with stuff I have seen in FPS's in the 90s.. This including extremely awful AI, that is sorted out with throwing unrealistically large amounts of guys with a endless respawn intill you get to a certain part.. The enemy also purposely targets you 80% of the time even when you have friendly soldiers in the wide open right next to you while your in cover.. The game is also painfully PAINFULLY linear, it is the most recent game I can remember where I was cut off by a wooden picket fence.. No physics to speak of, apparently metal barrels are cemented to the ground and able to sustain everythign short of a tank shell.. The multiplayer was all right but it by no means was better than the numerous slew of other multiplayer FPS's out there... So yeah I think losing captain Price in my eyes is irrelevent, they better fix these outdated mechanics with something that actually compares to games like Crysis..

well, i'll just say you're expecting what it is not. CoDs have never been about in-game physics or sand-box setting. It never tried to be Far Cry or Crysis, so what you complained really isn't a problem at all. and its multiplayer, with its emphasis on fast paced CQB and full situational awareness, is superb. normally i'll just stick with its record-breaking sales figures and overwhelming critical acclaim as basis of my argument, but yea, you get the idea. oh, i agree with what you said about the enemy AI tho....altho, i must add, i don't see many other titles showing better results so i won't complain.

COD games have always been the height of the excellence of linear first person shooters. a non linear call of duty simply wouldn't be call of duty. sure, sandbox games have their place, but highly scripted action sequences have their place as well. i hope the series continues on its linear path and doesn't sway to recent pressure to become sandboxy. the sp campaign was meant to be gone through and enjoyed, the mp was clearly the mainstay component of the game.

The multiplayer is awesome. Granted it definitely has its problems (a few controversial/broken perks, lag, and perhaps the worst spawn system ever seen in a multiplayer game) but it's extremely fast paced and the addition of levels, rewards, and achievements makes it extremely addictive. And of course there's all the perks, weapons, and weapon mods which allow you to fine tune a class that best matches your playing style. Considering the immense popularity of COD4's online multiplayer I think most people would beg to differ on your opinion that COD4 is merely average.

Also, complaining about the single player in COD4 is kind of pointless considering that few people bought it for the single player experience.

Sure CoD4 was fun at first, for me, but all i found myself doing in multiplayer was leveling different guns to gain rank... to do it all over again. The fun just didn't make it passed the first few weeks for me. The game held its trade-in value though. The sp campaign was great and i hope they imrpove on it for this one.

It's strange that you distribute Battlefield: Bad Company a 9.0/10, yet the game was utter rubbish and inferior to the Battlefield series on PC.

I'll try to explain it to you.

Everyone knows CoD has linear gameplay.

Everyone knows Starcraft has bad graphics, but good gameplay.

Picking on the fact that CoD is linear and not something else is like picking on Starcraft because it has poor graphics. You know what you're getting into.

I'm sorry I facepalmed. I should have anticipated the typical starcraft fanboy response to graphics.

What is the official name of this game anyway, will it use the CoD moniker cause I'm seeing most sites refer to it as just modern warfare 2.

Remove any gun which alters a player's health or gun's damage. Also remove hc mode as it is terrible and ruined the competitive community.

I don't think you know how to use facepalms.

Linear gameplay is a design choice. It's valid to complain about a design choice. Poor graphics in Starcraft is an 11 year old technology limitation. Complaining about that is invalid. And I'm no Starcraft (or RTS) fan FYI.

For the record, don't go into a Blizzard game expecting high end graphics, to do so will only disappoint you.
So yeah I think losing captain Price in my eyes is irrelevent, they better fix these outdated mechanics with something that actually compares to games like Crysis..SF_KiLLaMaN

Also, complaining about the single player in COD4 is kind of pointless considering that few people bought it for the single player experience.

cod4 was average, not great, not bad. they missed on the mechanics and missed on the storyline. hell, they even missed on the most of the gameplay.

Its multitude of accolades and 10 million retail sales argues very heavily against your opinion. It was designed as a strictly linear fast paced action FPS with a good story and as far as linear FPS games go, its record speaks for itself.

well, i'll just say you're expecting what it is not.

I never suggested it to be like Crysis what so ever.. It was merely a example.. My point is the game had ridiculous artificial barriers.. I mean SERIOUSLY a wooden picket fence stops me from traversing the fence.. And physics what so ever? I mean come on Half-Life 2 a game alot older added physics and it had more intelligent linear design where it didn't feel like your were bottled up as much as CoD4..
