[QUOTE="SF_KiLLaMaN"][QUOTE="gameguy6700"]cod4 was average, not great, not bad. they missed on the mechanics and missed on the storyline. hell, they even missed on the most of the gameplay. Its multitude of accolades and 10 million retail sales argues very heavily against your opinion. It was designed as a strictly linear fast paced action FPS with a good story and as far as linear FPS games go, its record speaks for itself. .. Sales just means its a commerical success.. We all know how much PC gamers just "Love" Halo, after all that sold well as well.. CoD4 is by no means a bad game, its just superbly over-rated in every way, consisting of mechanics that havn't evolved sense 2000.. And the story was typical cliche nonsense.. Typical bad guys, Arabic nationalists and Russian extremists.. Get a hold of a nuclear weapon.. Damn man that was so original I havn't seen something like that in a Tom Clancy movie, game or book.. Oh wait I have. Let me clarify these are my opinions and I by no means am trying to state them as fact. But the game had imo some serious flaws that I hope the sequel addresses. The multiplayer is awesome. Granted it definitely has its problems (a few controversial/broken perks, lag, and perhaps the worst spawn system ever seen in a multiplayer game) but it's extremely fast paced and the addition of levels, rewards, and achievements makes it extremely addictive. And of course there's all the perks, weapons, and weapon mods which allow you to fine tune a class that best matches your playing style. Considering the immense popularity of COD4's online multiplayer I think most people would beg to differ on your opinion that COD4 is merely average.
Also, complaining about the single player in COD4 is kind of pointless considering that few people bought it for the single player experience.
