Fallout is the only good 'rpg' you have on there.. The rest are only really good overall games, but their RPG elements leave something to be desired, to some extent.. AT least what I consider RPGish..
You need to adddd... Bloodlines, Arcanum, KOTOR series, Baldurs gate (duh), Planescape Torment (duh again). I don't mind you neglecting the first two, but the latter two are like so obvious that it's offensive you put some of those on your list over that :p
For me it's a tough choice between Arcanum, Planescape, and Bloodlines.... I'd just have to say.... Planescape.. I thrive on such brilliant stories that are so impossible for me to find even in fantasy novels nowadays.. Arcanum, also, but not quite as good, and the general plot setting is cooler, and Bloodlines has such an awesome atmosphere and stylish RPG gameplay choices, but something about that Planescape story. Not just the story itself, but the way they told it to you, or rather, how you 'play it out'.. Gosh, just thinking about it.. Figuring out the crazyness and how people somehow keep knowing you, all the hugely different reactions everyone had to you, the extremely deep concepts put into it, why your former lives were the way they were... So much emotion in that game. Brilliance
Bastards have me thinking about it, too.. I mean.. The desperation! You could 'feel' the desperation of your nameless character as he tries so hard to figure these things out, the frustration when he has to find so many things just to get tiny hints about what he even really is, and he never really finds out.. And when you meet the different versions of you! Man, that was such an awesome idea for the developers to do.. You could have had to play the game through, with only knowing about what your former selves did, and how they did it and all that such, but the developers even gave you the chance to SPEAK to your selves! And ask them questions.. ask them why, figure out why all this torturous experience you had to go through.. It was such an incredible feeling when you finaly figure out WHY all this stuff.. All these things behind this aggrivatingly intense and frustrating mystery that you don't even know about yourself! And when you can actually talk to the original you! And the crazy you that messed you up so much and you could actually help him at the very end.. And the mystery of Morte, and why and who he really was (although I'd like to have learned more about who he was and such), but it was just so much story in such a short time, so intense when you learned so many different brilliant answers to all these questions that the developers weave into this story, and instill this NEED to learn why just like your character must have the need to know why, and they ever so slowly leak tiny little hints to you and let you feel that wonderful feeling when your mind is blown away by the answers to why.. It was so amazing. Even take out the entire awesome planar realms and planar travel, and other incredible setting that the game also had, and you'd still have one of the best games and best stories to ever be written.Â
