Dragon Age 2. I don't get why you kids hate on Crysis 2 for going multiplatform, it gets more money this way and doesn't necessarily mean the PC version will be any less than if it were a PC exclusive, rather it means the console versions are scaled way down and run at sub 720p native with framerate issues. And then on the same note you guys jump all over the BF3 bandwagon despite its engine starting out on BC1 which was a console exclusive, it doesn't make sense.
The console versions of BF3 are actually scaled back, the console versions of Crysis 2 were almost exactly the same. Crysis going to consoles limited the scale and complexity of the first game.Dragon Age 2. sorry crysis 1 and 2 have nothing in common besides the genre, crysis 1 awesome, crysis 2 bad, i dont even care about it being mutiplatform they just ruined it.
Dragon Age 2. Nothing about that game felt epic. Story was weak, never left Kirkwall, un interesting characters compared to the first one, earning a romance was too easy, no main villian, etc. It as if EA said to bioware "hey some of the call of duty fans liked how mass effect 2 was more of a shooter, so you have less then a year to make a dragon age game that will appeal to these kinds of people". I never enjoyed uninstalling a game as much as I did Dragon Age 2. Dragon Age 2 is so bad I uninstalled that over Final Fantasy XIV lol.

no flops this year imho , just some games that were ..er...less good.
btw. No Aliens Colonial marines this year was a flop for me ...sort of

Crysis 2 actually looks worse than Crysis 1, the gameplay is infinitely inferior (the suit is just out of place in Crysis 2 while it melded perfectly with Crysis 1's environments), the atmosphere was pitiful...

Although I do respect other people's opinion, to all the people saying DA2 was a flop, that's your own personal opinon. Was DA2 flawed? Yes it was, but that's not to say I didn't enjoy it. I still thought it was a great game, and I don't regret my purchase. And the fact that it's NOT A FLOP. To some people's opinion, yes they didn't like it, but Dead Space 2, Dragon Age 2, and Crysis 2 all sold over 2 million units. That's not a flop, those are some very good numbers. Gamerperson33The whole point of the thread is about personal opinions.

Dragon Age 2 for sure. They took an awesome PC experience and dumbed it down to the lowest common denominator. They completely removed the unique PC UI and controls and went for a quick cash grab and rushed a boring, tedious, and extremely disapointing followup to one of my favorite games this generation.

I thought Crysis 2 was great in its own way.. It most certianly had a better narrative, story.. Graphics wise I thought they both looked great.. Crysis 1 may have been technically superior, but alot of the environments became montonus and boring rainforest after rainforest.. Hell those imo aren't even the best looking parts of the game.. Its when you get into the mountain really when the graphics really do pick up.. Crysis 1 also had some serious pacing problem where the first third of the game was very lazily done imo where I felt like there was little reason for me to go the next waypoint half the time.. Its only when the Americans invaded did I begin caring what happened.. The one thing I thought to be a definite improvement over the first was the suit mode.. Armor actually felt like armor.. Instead of the typical safety net that you used the majority of the time.. Speed mode to me in the first felt unneeded because the only time you used it was to sprint or to get a to b.. In which they did for Crysis 2 more or less.. Strength had alot of cool ideas but most of the times they just weren't very practical half the time instead of using basic tactics.. I really though both of them were great games in their own way.

With regard to this thread and the term, I disagree.
Official sales and reviews weren't the point of the thread and the TS didn't particularly asked which games flopped based on them, quite obviously.
Do feel free to take it up with TS if you think he used the term flop incorrectly.

couldn't agree with u more :) u pretty much summed up everything about the 2 games that even i felt were good and bad, most people here on this topic are crysis 1 fanboys :P so they hate crysis 2 !! bah, narrow minded fanboys !!Crysis 2 has way better graphics then Crysis 1, with DX11, high texture pack and BlackFire mod its no contest, dont know how the hell people can argue that. Take off the nostalgia glasses...

Do you even know what nostalgia is, or are you just saying that because you feel in need of bloating your post?
Why do you think Crytek themselves stated Crysis 2 backfired and that they were trying to "fix" it with the DX11 patch that came only later?
Logic. Leave it at the door when you subscribe to GS
They didn't try to "fix it" with the DX 11 patch that was announced before the game was even released. I'ts not "crysis 1 is better because I don't consider Crysis 2 as having the latest patch installed", it's "Crysis 2 looks better than Crysis 1, because patches are included in comparisons".
Their problem was not delaying the game till the PC version was finished.

Crysis 2 is technically inferior to Crysis and Warhead in a huge amount of departments: uses a lot less polygons in the wireframe of the characters, has worse overal textures (specially the ones from the faces), the water shaders are wastly inferior, the environment interactivity was severely downgrade (physics are almos inexistant in Crysis 2), the scale of the landscape was crushed to much smaller levels and the I.A. is clearly worse than in Warhead (not to talk about the amount of bugs involved). The only thing wich was improved in Crysis 2 is the global lightning, and even then is almost fake due Crysis 2 lacks time of day changing in real time, a feature that both Crysis, Warhead and even the multiplayer Crysis Wars displayed.
You can't seriously argue about the "Crysis 2 technical superiority" when the game loses in scale, wireframe, textures, water, physics, I.A., player supported and use of variable time of the day. And the technical lacks are only a small part of the problems with the game: the game doesn't conects with the precedent ones; there's no continuity in the characters; the armor is turned from a elite tool used by both the US and KPA Special Forces to a nonsensical "unique alien symbiote" that fuses the mind of two humans (one of them also, doesn't speak a single line in the game).
Still, I don't think that the game is terrible, but taking in consideration that is the latest iteration of the Crysis franchise is a mediocre title, and a (new) proof that making games for 11 years old console players usually ends bad.

I though even in DX9 maxed out it looked better and ran better than Crysis 1, I can max both games and think the explosions and textures just have a lot more pop than Crysis 1. But hey if you cant have opinions on Gamespot then thats cool, keep getting mad, xoxo[QUOTE="Arthur96"]

That's just like the foolish majority and their opinions that aren't backed up by anything on topics such as religion and politics. You guys have yet to present a single coherent argument. Crysis 2 is in all ways superior to Crysis 1, and people commenting that C1 looks better than C2 suggesting anyone that can't realize this is drunk? I just played Red Orchestra 2 for an hour. It's freaking awesome. Killing people has never felt so great.
Biggest flop for me personally was portal 2. I wish I never bought it. Made it an hour and a half in then just lost interest completely.
My guess is Dungeon Siege 3, but without numbers it's hard to say. Based on the demo, DNF was meh, but I think many (or enough people at least) bought the game for the nostalgia.flipin_jackassYep, it didn't sell like crazy and the game is actually fantastic, once you get over the terrible controls and bad AI pathfinding and the occasional questionable voice acting (Anjali has the worst voice I heard this year)
