which game should i get? i was planning to get CoD 4 along with a brand new laptop , but i just saw the reviews of the Crysis and the game looks amazing and i cant decide which one to get. both games look really good.

p.s. - the spec of my new laptop would be

Intel Core 2 duo 2.2 GHz

3 gig of ram

nVidia 8600M GT 256mb

and 250 gb of HDD

would this laptop be able to run Crysis smoothly?

COD4 is vastly overrated, no physics, linear and short, Crysis makes all other shooters look bland.

I'd go with CoD4 in your case. You'll be able to run Crysis on medium setting with 1280 resolution with 20fps at
best on that laptop, which won't be too fun or pretty. CoD4 should run very smoothly though and it's
a very good game on its own.

No, it is not, not at all. I didn't realise Far Cry had a nano suit? I didn't realize Far Cry had zero gravity, I didn't realise far cry ahd cloak, you could jump high, use strength to throw enemies or collapse huts on enemies. Haters always hate, cod4 is poo in comparison. Have you even played the game? Far Cry ahd aliens and a space ship? Frozen levels? Natural disasters? Could you set traps with oil barrels in Far Cry? 360 fanboy right?

COD4 is the same scripted, linear, no physics, and spawning enemies of all COD games, and the game is sadly short. Crysis takes realism to a whole new level. Crysis on medium is still as graphically nice as COD4, and the gameplay and story are much better.

10 - 1 for crysis so far, pretty obvious what game gamers want more.

agreed, Crysis contains alot more in every aspect. They are the makers of Farcry afterall so they would obviously contain a little FarCry in it.

COD4 is better optimised so you wont have many if any problems being able to run it on your laptop and its multiplayer really is great. Crysis speaks for itself but you may find a few performance issues running it on that laptop but im sure tweaking the settings would fix this.

If you've got the money though i'd buy both games as their both spectacular games to play, while COD4 may have a short and somewhat linear although intense and fun single player, its multiplayer more than makes up for this. Crysis on the other hand has what looks to be a great single player thats fun and immersive(sp?) while its multiplayer seems to be lacking in some areas.

COD4 is NOT better optimized, Crysis is just cutting edge. Crysis is actually well optimized considering the large areas with total destructability it has to render. Applaud for Crysis for pusjing the envelope, and doing it well.

If you like multiplayer get COD4. Single player get Crysis. I like multiplayer so I'll probably get COD4 first. However, depending on how the multiplayer in SOF: Payback turns out, I may get it before the other two.

COD 4 does have a great story but it is a little short. But if you are looking for a good Multiplayer game on top of it, go with COD 4 Espeically if you are looking to compete in ladders.

Its actually funny how many people are saying crysis doesnt have great multiplayer, while almost certainly having never played it. Fact is, both have fantastic multiplayer. While cod4 is near perfectly balanced and has incredibly well designed levels, crysis has more variation in weaponry and of course, the nano suit.

In fact, im giving the edge to crysis simply because of the suit. It makes every battle, every little confrontation different, while each of them are intense, fast paced, and just plain awesome. I mean that in both single player and multiplayer.

However, your laptop will struggle to play crysis on high, and that might be an issue for you. Cod4 is very well optimized, and while i prefer crysis (ever so slightly), cod4 is still a very kick ass game, and some parts of the campaign are just legendary, and even quite surprising. So yeah, go for crysis if you dont mind having some of the options on medium (should still look fine), and COD4 if you like better performance.

Well I like realistic shooters so the nano suit wouldn't fall in line with that. I'd also love to have good old CTF which neither game has but from what I've read COD4 has some game modes along the same line.

You can read the reviews and decide what suits you. CoD4 has nice, stable, linear gamplay... yes it's great fun, But after playing both demos...Crysis smashing CoD. Crysis is everything you ever wanted in a FPS but could never get it; It really pushed the limit as far as Graphics, storyline, gameplay and everything else, While playing CoD makes you think- "Haven't I been there before?","Haven't i Saw this movie?". I know what "suit"s me...Crysis

Get Call of Duty 4 first. Run through the entire single player campaign in one day, then sell it and use that money to get Crysis.

COD4 more realistic? LOL, explosions going off, nothing gets damaged? Hordes of spawning enemies, all scripted? Crysis takes realism to a whole new level. COD4 is one of the most unrealistic shooters around.

By realistic shooter I'm referring more to a sub-genre. I'm honestly surprised you didn't gather that. Have you been hiding under a rock? Have you never heard of a sub-genre called realistic shooter. It refers to shooters that are based on modern day combat. They're are no nano-suits (as far as I know) in modern day combat.

yes, and COD4 is not even close to be realistic. In fact, it is one of the most unrealistic games series ever. It is a game, not a life simulation. Crysis is in a diferent league then COD4 and it rigid old school gameplay. How realistic is it when three or 4 explosions go off, yet nothing around it gets damaged?

just read or listen to the review for crysis. it's amazing... no... it's: food from the gods. yes, that would more likely describe it. seriously, i just beat it and im going to play through it again, and again, and again... cod 4 i beat and was like: well... that kind of sucks... yet it was cool.... but it sucks that it was too short, it was so linear, there wasn't any big change in their graphics engine, the voices of the enemies dying sounded EXACTLY like the ones from cod2. So i felt like i was killing nazis all over again, which isn't cool.

crysis. hands down. it delivers on graphics, immersability, innovation, duration (around 10 hrs or so), replayability, multiplayer, just... on every aspect of a game you could think of, crysis will blow you away.

the end.

it isn't, sad when a game tries to advertise itself as a realistic shooter, yet has the most unrealistic game design.

missions with full use of tanks, helicopters, rockets, and airstrikes, the tactical gameplay plus the production values turn Crysis into a love letter for military combat. Crysis has morre realistic combat and more tactical then any COD game. COD games are arcade straight forward shooters, Crysis is tactical, and much more realistic.

No Crysis is a overhyped game with great graphics, have any of you played it? not the demo the full game it gets old the story is great dont get me wrong but the gameplay gets old then bam something new then old stuff for awhile then so on I did like the tank level(you get to drive a tank :P) But The game reminds me of Farcry to much Jeeps, Boats. But the one thing that does get old go here go there destory jamers(you do that alot). Some of the games is new and is cool but they should have steered away from farcry alittle more.

No, it isn't hater. The gameplay, interactivity have taken the FPS genre to new levels, thus the reviews. Your right and everyone is wrong? lol, halo fanboy I bet. How does the gameplay get old? There are dozens of ways to play it, and it is ever changing. How many games give you the freedom to tackle a situation a dozen different ways? How many games can you use stealth to seetup a barrel and gas tank to ambush a bunch of enemies? How many games can you use physics to destroy a hut to make it fall on unspecting enemies? How many games can you beat enemies with a branch? If Crysis is overrated, COD4 and Halo 3 are crap.

[QUOTE="04dcarraher"]Its funny how people are says how cooler/better Crysis is compare to all other FPS's LoL. A friend of mine Downloaded the leaked version of Crysis and the game isnt all that great it gets repetitive, Can barely run it with a geforce 7800, It has a good story and suit can be cool but the gameplay is so farcryish. I have more fun with Cod4 than Crysis and I was looking forword to Crysis for a long time its looks really cool on high settings but the gameplay is nothing new besides the suit. Plus the games runs the same as the demo too just to let people know that its only a demo its not done haha, The only way that they can fix the lag is to create a magic patch. But theres commands you can use to speed up the game like turning off the swaying trees and plants from the wind on medium settings or higher. spiltmilk

So because youu say it isn't that great it isn't? Yet all reviews say it is? What a hypocrite. COd4 can't hold crysis's jock strap. Nothiong new? No game has the interactivity, not dynamic gameplay as crysis, if it isn't your thing, that's fine, but to say BS like this, your just a hater. Everyone is wrong and your right right? Crysis takes realism, interactivity like it ahs never been seen before.

Um, how is he a hypocrite for stating an opinion different than somebody elses? He has to contradict his own statements to be a hypocrite.

My two cents.

BTW, both Crysis and CoD4 look awsome, and I look forward to playing them both eventually.

Both are cool in different ways and I just say that cause I'm a hardcore player lady. I'm playing both of them and I can't live without them. P.S. GoW it's cool too.

COD4 is vastly overrated, no physics, linear and short, Crysis makes all other shooters look bland.

ROFL....crysis is FarCry with a different story....same gameplay.

Everything you just stated helps my argument......The environments are the same...I'm not hating. I'm stating my opinion, and I don't think COD4 isth greatest game everIMO lol.
