[QUOTE="mrbojangles25"][QUOTE="PredatorRules"][QUOTE="sSubZerOo"] System requirements aside my view is this.. I think CoD4 is the most over-rated game this year.. Its singleplayer is short linear, tedious where they think difficulty invovles throwing unrealistic amounts of guys at you on set paths.. The AI is awful in that game where 75% of the time the AI direclty goes after you, even when your safely behind a wall and your friends are not.
I like Linear shooters don't get me wrong.. But I draw the line when a picket fence stops my advancement from going through a wide open field.. This coupled with the fact with amatuer devolpment of respawning enemies.. Where if pitted in the exact same fire fight if you rush forward and through, magically you would be fighting far fewer guys.. Instead of going the logical direction of hanging in cover and picking them off..
Visuals.. The game looks good in some places and absoultely awful in others.. Where the first mission the training exercise when your running outside the hanger.. The enviroment looks AWFUL, where games like HL2 looked better overall in scenes like that... Story wise, its alright its just your basic Tom Clancy type stories... The Rail shooters are fun at first and then get very repeitive imo..
Multiplayer is good I suppose.. But quite honestly I prefer numerous other multiplayers to it.. Such as Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike Source, etc etc..
Crysis on the other hand has a superb singleplayer.. With a huge amount of open ranged realistic playing.. i wasn;'t a huge fan of Farcry.. But I think this game is bloody brilliant with the character reactions and just the amount of things you can do in the enviroment.. That coupled with great visuals, good voice acting, drastic changes in enviroment.. As well as a nice change from open range>Linear>open range>linear.. The aliens were interesting and were nothing alike.. This imo is one of my favorite sp I have played in a long time.. I can not comment on the multiplayer because I have never played it.. But from what I hav eseen of it.. I am not impressed.

you forgot to say that Crysis is the most over-hyped game this year
hyped? Absolutely. But overhyped? No way...it delivered on every promise and often exceeded my expectations.
Now Bioshock, thats the most overhyped game of the year...but lets save that debate for another thread.
hmm yes i was thinking about Bioshock myself lol, but you have to admit - Crysis is just another Far Cry: Instincts - i mean ok they've changed the story, amazing graphics of course, new great phisics, changed the super powers from Instincts which came from the virus or whatever it was inside his blood to nano suite on Crysis, and so on and so on...
I agree that a lot of things from Far Cry (sorry, never played Instincts) carried over into Crysis but that is, frankly, Crytek's right. Every developer has a signature style, and they are entitled to use that style in their games if they have proven successful previously. Westwood had C&C with their tank rushes and cinematics, Blizzard has WC and SC with the cartoony art design and balanced armies, and Crytek has lush openjungles and near-future military-style shooter gameplay with scifi elements.
I would have been disappointed if they didnt use a lot of the elements from Far Cry in Crysis. I thought the binocs from Far Cry added a strategic edge to the game, and I was very happy they were in Crysis. I thought the open jungle environment of Far Cry added a variety of tactics, and I was glad they added that (and improved upon) to Crysis.
But to say Crysis is just another Far Cry? Idunno...it just seems belittling of one of the greatest shooters in the past few years. I mean the suit adds a lot of depth to the game. Its not just a gimmick, but an actual necessity to master in order to play the game successfully. Add this to the multiplayer and you get an awesome game mechanic.
In addition, the AI is vastly improved. Enemies are actually cautious in Crysis, and they stick together in teams and hunt you down. If theyre alone, they use retreat tactics (run back 30 feet, turn around and scan, run back 30 feet, turn around, etc) until eventually you find yourself inside an enemy base. Vast improvement from Crytek's previous game where an enemy would simply say "Im gonna shoot you in the face" and then go stomping through the jungle.
There are many significant differences and additions that make Crysis vastly different from any of the Far Cry games. I am not saying youre wrong; I am sure your argument has credibility, but I just cant agree with you. Its like saying the 49ers are the same as the Raiders; theyre both american football teams and theyre both from the Bay Area, so to an outsider they might as well be the same, but there are just so many small (and large) differences that they stand apart.
