I'd go with CoD4 in your case. You'll be able to run Crysis on medium setting with 1280 resolution with 20fps at
best on that laptop, which won't be too fun or pretty. CoD4 should run very smoothly though and it's
a very good game on its own.

God! so what does it take to run it on very high?

Good dual core or a nice quad core, 2gb of RAM, 8800GTX or Ultra, or SLI combo (or ATI equivelent) runs it on Very High.
DO NOT PLAY CRYSIS ON A LAPTOP, lol.
Call of Duty 4 should run good on your PC. It's a great game. :)
I played Crysis at my friend's place today. I wasn't a fan of Crytek before, and I'm not now. I never liked Farcry even one bit. I found Crysis to be goodgraphics with some run of the mill shooting and a boring alien story. He continues to tell me every little detail as it comes up. I thought that Farcry was one of the most overrated fps games ever created and Crysis is just like that. The suit mechanics don't revolutionise anything. That's like saying the magic mechanics in Dark Messiah revolutionised the genre. CoD 4 at least has good multiplayer.
Crysis is like Bioshock. It was so overhyped that it couldn't fail because it would make thousands of people look like fools for foaming so much over it.

My friend works at a certain store by the way. He doesn't want me to say what one, but it's a larger one. Don't care if I'm believed, really though. Not like I'm getting it either way.
:queue matrix moment:
Far Cry: Council has asked me to speak tonight at the temple gathering. The presence of the fleet and the persistence of rumors must be addressed. The people must be told what is happening.
EA: Of course, councilor...but might I advise a level of discretion concerning specific details. We do not wish to start a panic.
Far Cry: Quite right. A panic is not what anyone wants. What about you, captain? What would you advise?
Crytek: The truth, no one will panic, because there is nothing to fear.Halo 3will never reach game of the year.
Far Cry: What makes you so sure?
Crytek: Consider what we have seen, councilor. Consider that in the past 6 months, we havelagged more gpu'sthan in 6 years. This attack, is an act of desparation. I believe very soon the prophecywill be fulfilled and Crysis will be crowned, Game of the Year.
Far Cry: I hope you're right, captain.
Crytek: I do not believe it to be a matter of hope, councilor. It is simply, a matter of time.

No, it isn't hater. The gameplay, interactivity have taken the FPS genre to new levels, thus the reviews. Your right and everyone is wrong? lol, halo fanboy I bet. How does the gameplay get old? There are dozens of ways to play it, and it is ever changing. How many games give you the freedom to tackle a situation a dozen different ways? How many games can you use stealth to seetup a barrel and gas tank to ambush a bunch of enemies? How many games can you use physics to destroy a hut to make it fall on unspecting enemies? How many games can you beat enemies with a branch? If Crysis is overrated, COD4 and Halo 3 are crap. spiltmilk
Just reading through this board you stand out as the biggest fanboy defender here. You seem to go way out of your way to bash anybody that tries to say CoD4 is a good game. Both games are great. I myself have CoD4 and think its a great game. Sure it dosent have a great physics engine and sure its linear but it has an awsome presentation and runs very smooth not to mention its really fun to play multiplayer. I will also be picking up crysis as well. Dont have a clue as to how you can say crysis is more realistic just because it has a great physics engine and top notch graphics. I mean really, I forgot how realistic being able to jump 15 feet in the air is and how everyday I see ppl picking up others by the throat and tossing them 50 feet through the air. And we cant forget how many aliens we have had visit earth hell bent on destruction :P Dont get me wrong here, Im not bashing Crysis, I cant wait to play it. I'm just bashing you.

Ok your argument sucks, you said that he said that the game is more realistic, and he never said that.

Did you even use the suit?
which game should i get? i was planning to get CoD 4 along with a brand new laptop , but i just saw the reviews of the Crysis and the game looks amazing and i cant decide which one to get. both games look really good.
p.s. - the spec of my new laptop would be
Intel Core 2 duo 2.2 GHz
3 gig of ram
nVidia 8600M GT 256mb
and 250 gb of HDD
would this laptop be able to run Crysis smoothly?
DrStewie04
I have yet to see/play Crysis' multiplayer to decide.
[QUOTE="BlackBart2"]Well I like realistic shooters so the nano suit wouldn't fall in line with that. I'd also love to have good old CTF which neither game has but from what I've read COD4 has some game modes along the same line.spiltmilk
BWHAHAHA
BWHAHAHA
COD4 more realistic? LOL, explosions going off, nothing gets damaged? Hordes of spawning enemies, all scripted? Crysis takes realism to a whole new level. COD4 is one of the most unrealistic shooters around.
Whats that?

You took it out of context, he said that the physics and graphical capabilities were more realistic. Not the game itself.
I am a guy with a cave-men era video card :P I thought playing Crysis on low (although with good fps) would be miserable. How freakin wrong i was. After an hour of gameplay i forgot my own f*cking name  The fact that my rig cant max it or play it on medium with good fps simply faded away. I barely quit the game just to make a post here. YOU WONT REGRET BUYING THIS GAME. Its a huge step from Far Cry, although yeah, they share some similiarities.
Get Crysis, its the best shooter...and if you have a high end video card..well, the game will probably impress you even more. I play it on low and still think it tops even the Orange Box (which i was able to max out with smooth fps).
Gotta go..damn, one hell of a game.
Whatever, not here to argue with anyone just pointing out that he really has no right to bash anyone that posts on here with an opinion that CoD4 is a good game just because he is madly in love with crysis.
Dizzy1976
Yeah I know what you mean, CoD4 is by no means a bad game at all.
so i may have a view here that is rare...
but no flaming on me...im a good person
both games...awesome, solid, stunning and freaking win
but i bought cod4 first...because i trust the series better, and having tried the crysis beta...i knew that i would like the cod4 mp much much better
sp campaign is wonderful for cod4
though i havent played the full game of crysis yet, i cant be 100% sure, but i am 97% sure that crysis is a great game also
but i went for cod4
People should stop b**ching. Both games are good, but in his situation, I would get CoD4. I have a 5200+, X1950Pro 256MB, and I can run the Crysis demo on 1024x768 (medium), with a 30fps average. Now a 8600GT (destop, not too sure about mobile) is a bit worse than the X1950Pro, and I'm assuming that the processor is a E6400, which is also a bit worse than the 5200+. So it will run a bit slower than my PC. 30fps and some lag spikes of 16fps isn't bad, but you won't be getting the awesome lighting, water, and textures. Also according to the community, CoD4's multiplayer is much superior than the Crysis' multiplayer. I haven't played either games to much extent, but I'm a multiplayer type of guy so I would get CoD4. But again a tough choice, since Crysis is freaking awesome.
PS: The poll should have been Crysis, CoD4, and Gears of War.
I recommend CoD4 because its a really great game(Looks and gameplay). Crysis is great too but if you want to awesome graphics, your not gonna get them with any laptop. Even the 8800 gtx gives you a pathetic 30fps.kondrae
um, no. for one 30 fps isnt pathetic, itsas much as you need. And two, i have an 8800gtxand i get an average of 40with all settings maxed.

OMG Crysis on LOW with shaders and shadows on high looks waaaay bether than COD 4 on maximum.

Scripted gameplay isn't always bad and often makes for very intense gameplay. The half life series has perfected it. It would be a bland gaming world if every game had sandbox gameplay. Give me variety.
[QUOTE="Kadaj108"]COD 4 does have a great story but it is a little short. But if you are looking for a good Multiplayer game on top of it, go with COD 4 Espeically if you are looking to compete in ladders.spiltmilk
Crysis Multiplayer is no slouch either.
GOnna have to give a big LOL here.
They are doing the same thing battlefield has been doing for years. They just renamed the capture points "power plants" and stuff. Seriously, besides handheld nukes, and being able to buy your own vehicles instead of just waiting for them to respawn, they do absolutely nothing new, and nothing particularly well.
And like the reviewer at GS said. Deathmatch but no Team Deathmatch? LOLZ.
"So you would prefer scripted and linear gameplay that makes all the decisions for you rather than open-ended gameplay that lets you take complete control of every situation and deal with it how you please?"
I hate to tell you Crysishas bilinear gameplay the only difference is you have only a few different ways to get to an objective. Theres no complete control you just got more room to move around and when sometimes, there is time limits before allies get destoryed.

I second that. I'm not saying Crysis is a bad game by the way.
About COD4, even though it's scripted it's still very nice. It's almost like watching a good action movie with a good story. Yes it's scripted but that doesn't mean it makes the game instantly a bad game. COD4 has the best scripted sequences that I've ever seen. And there are loads of them so there's always something interesting happening. The thing is that the story is very well told and even though it's a standard war story, it's very interesting because of the way it is told and presented. It's so interesting mainly because of the way it's presented BY the scripted sequences.
The problem with Crysis is that there aren't enough scripted sequences. Basically all the game offers is a big map full with AI soldiers. This does allow for some dynamic gameplay but all you will get is some stealth and shooting gameplay, with a small scripted sequence every hour and pretty much nothing else. This can make the game very dull after a while. In my opinion Crysis only got really interesting once I reached the cave. That's when lots of scripted things started happening and the story was truly beginning. Before that part, it was like I got dropped in the middle of nowhere and they told me: "Go kill lots of random people". Ok, but that gets boring really fast.
Scripts are not bad. Scripts are what gives the game a story and adds interesting things that aren't possible with "sandbox" type gameplay.
EDIT: By the way, I love COD4 more then Crysis but I'm definately not bashing Crysis here. I love that game also! if you can, you should definately get both games. I now got the Crysis action/theme music stuck in my head. Just listen to motivational_3_orch.ogg if you get the chance. Listen to it for 10 minutes and you'll understand...
Crysis maybe the greatest, but if you are into military shooter, IN THAT PERSPECTIVE, COD 4 is way beyond the greatest!! simply because of the fact that, COD 4 is full of military realism. From weapon design to their range, recoil, maneuvrability to everythn, its so real. just like someone said, haters know only to Hate.. for god sake, before u tel something bad about a game, think about 5 time over... see what the focuss of the developers, what they have tried to achieve, what they are tryn to offer to the gamer.. then see if they have done a great job or jst screwd up big time...
First of all i got to say that BOTH are amazing game.
Crysis is a more innovating game with better graphics, physics and all but needs a powerful system. If you want a single player game go for crysis but
COD4 is a fantastic single player (short but good) and one of the best multiplayer there is for now (IMO the best). So its up to you really.
If you dont got a high end system ill say go for COD4 is fantastic.
Forget both of them and get BIOSHOCK! It's a much better game and looks just as fantastic (even better from an artistic perspective) than the other two.
If you already have BioShock then get COD4 unless you know without a doubt that you can run Crysis wide open.
