They don't have to fix anything, PCs are perfectly capable of handling what the PS3 and 360 could not. The community will do the rest.KHAndAnime
What makes you think that is the case when the game is going to be slaved to XBL and large portion of the game involves online play.?. This pretty much mean mods are going to be highly restricted regardless of how small they are...

A port they decided to do because of a fan made petition. They did not plan on doing it. They did not need to do it.

Even if it's unoptimized they are working hard to bring it to PC. Be greatful because honestly it's enough of a smash hit to not even need to touch the PC market.

Prexxus
You would be horrible at running a business. They are porting the game because they think there is enough demand for a crappy port of their game to turn a profit. They didn't see a petition and think "Oh, we have to port the game to those guys because they would like to play it." They saw the petition and thought "Oh, those guys might actually buy this game and make us a lot of money."

Forget the 1337 graphics. Why are there still frame rate issues?

Isn't it a bit premature to start screaming about framerate issues? We have yet to see how it runs on a good PC. They only said they only have the resources to do a straight port and their resources are stretched thin as it is so they won't be "fixing" the framerate problem that already exists on consoles. We have yet to see how pc handles those framerate problems. The problems always occured in blight town where there was a long draw distance and flaming torches, i.e. the consoles weren't able to handle it. I bet that it won't be a problem at all unless you are running min system requirements.

Even if it is as good as a console (which is what they are trying to do) it will still be an awesome game. But I suppose, PC games are always supposed to be superior huh?

I liked the post above about how PC gamers lavish praise on buggy games like Arma and Stalker, but if its a port they scream bloody murder. And the only thing that fixed Stalker was mods. In Stalker COP I encountered a game breaking bug that would have required me to start over. I just uninstalled.

we will just have to see how it turns out. it depends on the nature of the performance problems in the code. hopefully PC hardware will be able to power through it but not everything can be solved by throwing more horsepower at it.

Zubinen

Be grateful? You act as though they are giving it to us for free. PC gamers, stop acting like this is not a business and you are not customers. They would not be doing this if there was not a profit in it, they are not doing it as a goodwill gesture.

But we are PC gamers. We are entitled to better. The price of the high-end system I bought justifies me deserving more, more, and did I mention more? I deserve the best because I am a PC gamer and am clearly superior to all other forms of life.

Ur post is non-sense...

Then all of us should drive a honda civic...by ur logic?

So if i have a better pay check than you i shouldnt want a more expensive holiday in a 5 stars hotel...no...i should make my holidays at home even if i have the money to go in the Caribbean?right?

Why should i eat at good restaurant if i have the money...i should go in to the most miserably bar and eat the most **** burger or pizza...right?because why would i be entitled to something better...just to justify my hard work for which i get a fat pay check?neeeeaaahhh that is non sense...
If i want more from everything inlife i will be clearly superior to all other forms of life...MY GOD!!!

Please for the love of common sense...read what that guy Prexxus said, then read the reply of vfibsux...and after that read ur post out loud and try to correlate it logically with the other two...
I dont have anything against you...but my god man!!!MY GOD!!Have you lived for nothing till this age? havent you went to school...havent you learn the basic of common sense and logic till now...

Perfect sense.

Your choice.

Your choice.

Your choice.

Buying the game, it might shock you, but guess what? still your choice and your money to keep or throw at it.

They're offering a product, you don't "need" it, you might not even want it, but it's there and it's what they were able to do (like any product on this earth), you have a better product you're interested in, you go with that, without this lesser product ever influencing your life.

Ever since Prexxus posted, this thread became something like the twilight zone.

If they are going to do a crappy job of porting it then they should have just outsourced the port job to a different studio.

[QUOTE="Elann2008"] Exactly.Prexxus

It is guys like this Prexxus which give a bad name to pc gamers...he has no standards...and he wants everyone to be like him and not question the products that developers are giving us...

And i think he lives under the impression that the WHOLE pc gaming community singned that lame ass petition for DS...

He has no respect for himself...he dosent have any standards regarding games...i dont know why you guys taking ur time to respond to him...Didnt he already said that the devs worked hard to give us something amazing....hahahhaha...he makes me laugh everytime he posts but i shouldnt laugh because there are many like him...and if they continue to make they stupidity known to the developers we may end up getting products like DS on a regular basis

Yeah I have no standards. That's why I have a 4 thousand dollar PC setup. So I can play games that are unoptimized. I really don't think you understand my post at all.

I wish we could of gotten a superior product but in no way do I believe I am entitled to it because I payed more money then someone else.

I live under the impression that the whole PC community signed it? How the hell did you come to that conclusion?

I said the devs would love to bring you an amazing product. You think these people go to work everyday to make something **** ? Maybe when you grow up you'll understand what it means to not always be able to get or in this case make what you want.

No standards with games. That's why my most played game in the last 2 years is EVE online. One of the most hardcore PC titles out there right now. A title most PC gamers are SCARED of playing. That's why I have over 200 PC retail games and another 100 on steam.

The best part?! I also programmed for the game in your forum signature! So thanks for promoting it.

I would start with the last thing from your post...

Not only that i dont belive you...but a sensation of trow up just came up from nowhere...Pfff how low could someone goes in order to prove himself on a internet forum...pfff

Anyways even if you did, lets say AC:B from ground up...what relevance has that in our debate????Is that suppose to show us that you can understand and sympathize more with the developers or what...???

Anyhow...dude the quality equals high standard or at least it should...when you wish for a no quality product you have no standards...dont you get it?You even promote and encourage people to buy a poor quality product...what the hell are we talking about here...you have no standards...and is not me saying that...is you...you cannot have poor quality and quality in the same room...you act like no quality and quality products goes hand in hand...

Yeah you play a quality game like Eve,good for you...i stopped playing it 6 years ago...and btw i dont think "scared" is the reason why people do not play it...Back when ived played it...Eve costed me and and one of my friends our jobs...i didnt have the time necessary to invest in that game so ived stopped...and i think the most people who likes Eve but dont wanna play it...have no time to play it...they are not SCARED...they just dont have the TIME to play it...

You have a big library of games, again good for you...but that dosent erase the fact that you encourage others to buy poor quality products and you are OK with poor quality products, right up to the point where you insult others who are pointing out the obvious...
I started this back and forth discussion with you because i was outraged when you told that guy that "Even if it's unoptimized they are working hard to bring it to PC. Be greatful..." be grateful on my money for a poor quality product?-So if you gonna reply to me...next time start with this line...because honestly iam not interested in anything else that you do or have...

You feel it is a poor quality product because it is not 100% optimized for PC.

I tell you it's a amazing game and should be played even if not optimized.

You will make your decision in the end.

Play an amazing game that may have some framerate issues and less then optimal PC video options.

or

Don't play the amazing game because of those reasons.

Either way it does not matter to me. Buy it or not, I and many others will be enjoying the game on our platform of choice now. With or without you. Because MY standards go far deeper then just optimization. To me, a quality gaming product is something more then just a bunch of graphics options and framrates.

Yes, people are elitists because they expect a company to, oh, I don't know, actually put effort into their games. If they don't care about the port (and it's fairly obvious that they don't), why should I?

No game and $50 still in my pocket > Lazy, broken PoS

Baranga

I guess you never played a lot of PC cIassics, then.

Ambitious but broken games deserve support. This attitude of putting polish ahead of anything else is what ruins console gaming right now.

Yes, you're absolutely right, I have never played any classic PC games. I only like modern games. I think my posting history on this forum would prove that point fairly well. I'm also wondering exactly how this game is ambitious. I'm certainly not seeing it but, then, I guess there's never been a third-person, twitchy, action-RPG on the PC before, either.

But then I realised you actually don't know anything about Dark Souls and dismiss it just because it's a console RPG.

They're lying anyway. It's not strictly a port. They've been working on more content as well as changing how multiplayer will work. So they're clearly system engineering.

I have to admit, I do appreciate their honesty that they're inexperienced with PC ports, and I would've let many things slide in light of this, but I wanted the frame rate issues fixed. With that not being the case, I'm not so sure I want this now.

Maybe I don't know anything about Dark Souls other than the videos I've watched that haven't impressed me. So, I will ask you again, what makes this game so "ambitious" and not simply another twitchy, third-person, action-RPG? You seem to be an expert on the game, enlighten me.

Oh, and just being "difficult" isn't going to cut it, either.

I've also said previously that I would try a demo if they released one. I wouldn't buy the game without trying it first, but now, with their admitted lack of effort, I won't buy their game, ever. I am not in the habit of rewarding companies that makes excuses and put forth so little effort and, seeing as how the developers don't seem to care enough about their game to port it correctly, I don't see any reason why I should care about their game, either.

I'll care as much about the game as they care about the port. Seems fair to me.

I haven't played it myself, but I think "ambitious" is the wrong word for Dark Souls. Many people who have played it say it's just a normal RPG, but has a very high difficulty level. People mistaken the difficulty for something else. Not saying it's a bad game.

I just hope that the framerate issues can be fixed by throwing high-end hardware at it.

Elann2008
Even with high-end hardware, a poorly optimized game will have framerate issues. Framerate dipping is the best you will get out of it.

I can run modded GTA 4 with 50-60fps, but their DRM literally killed my boxed copy. It's basically useless. I thinks I pirated it, making Niko permanently drunk and cars catch fire when you drive them.....I laughed at first, but I stopped laughing when it wouldn't stop across multiple PCs. Good thing steam had a $5 sale a while back for GTA IV and all it's expansions.

I have a feeling this will be one of those situations where they release a bad port for PC, and use the poor sales to justify not making any other games for PC. I hope that's not the case, but I have a bad feeling about it.

Toxic-Seahorse

Really? They would put money into a port to justify no future sales? What retard planet did you drop in from?

Nowhere did I ever say their intent was to do so. Reading comprehension goes a long way. They can have good intentions, but then release a bad port. If the port is bad, no body will buy it and they will use the poor sales as an excuse to not have to make another PC game. Nowhere did I say that that is what they want to happen. Way to be mature with the insults there pal. You're a real class act.

It isn't a normal RPG. The people who said that...well you should never listen to their opinion again. It is very different. Its a weird game.

I'll add that it is ambitious in that its a game that isn't catered to the masses. Heck Demon's souls wasn't even supposed to be released in the USA because they thought that all of the ADD COD fans wouldn't like it.

It is punishing and rewarding. It requires caution, perserverance, and thought. It is definitely unique.

You'll see.

Mr_Ditters

I haven't played it myself, but I think "ambitious" is the wrong word for Dark Souls. Many people who have played it say it's just a normal RPG, but has a very high difficulty level. People mistaken the difficulty for something else. Not saying it's a bad game.

You'll see.

I probably won't see cause I probably won't buy it if the devs don't even care about the quality of their port :(

It seems like they care. They just have limited resources. So they are doing a straight port. Its business. From my experience very few developers are working under desirable conditions. One friend of mine quit because of their unreasonable expectations. He envied the larger, bankrolled companies that give you funding and time to produce a polished product. Thats part of what I like about a lot of PC games, they have better ideas, are more innovative, and they are the underdogs.

From software put a lot of love into that game. They are PC developers at heart, they just don't know it. Dark Souls should have been a PC game first.

Not that I ever planned on buying the game but anyone defending this practice is a terrible consumer and gets exactly what he or she deserves, a broken cash grab of a game.

Hopefully this game will sink like a lead balloon. Yes, a few apologists and dupes will buy it but, if this thread is any indication, most people will simply pass on purchasing this albatross. I wonder how long it will be before the developers blame piracy or some other bogeyman for the less than stellar sales of their half-hearted port?

The whole, "buy it for the next game" argument is weak, too. Why would anyone think they'd put any more effort into the next game than they are into this one? If you're not going to even try - why bother?

Like I've said in a post yesterday, if it's well optimized yes. I have expressed that many times. If it isn't, then, simply no. Easy as that.

Rhazzy... pick a side. You first start off saying that we shouldn't buy it if it's a bad port... and then you're siding with people who are saying we should buy it anyways even if it does end up being a crappy port. Now, I agree with the other poster that you are starting to become a troll, with very immature responses.

Want a recap of what you said?

Let me ,let them know...that the majority of pc gamers want quality products...and if they cannot deliver they can shove their game where the sun dont shine...we(the other ones who didnt sign the petition)have the same right to make our opinion known and heard...

We know what quality is and we demant it...by giving us quality game they show us respect...let me be an **** who demands respect(from devs) and dont turn me in to a **** beggar...Ok?Thank you

ITT: A bunch of PC elitists who expect everything to be of higher quality. Otherwise they wrinkle their noses and fix up their monocles. The developer didn't need to do anything. No one is holding a gun to your head and telling you to buy this. If you don't like it, don't buy it. the_ChEeSe_mAn2

I actually like to go on System Wars, find the weakest console peasants, then pay my team of mercenaries to take them to my private island so I can hunt them for sport with an expensive rifle I made from the remains of an expensive PC.

If resolution is locked then it's an absolute no. Otherwise maybe. Surely raw power can overcome framerate issues??

Resolution is not locked and they are still trying to optimize the game so I suggest everyone to wait for the final product before flaming over something that can change alot until release.
