I hated how you could hear zombies outside the hotel when you moved closer to the outer walls. I then **** bricks when they walked through glass panels to get me lol. Great level.
Now I might buy CoJ: The Cartel just to support Techland:P They remind me of GSC a bit - crapped out a lot of shovelware over the years, with the occasional gem here and there, and meanwhile beavered away at their masterpiece for years.

Techland has since warmed up to me after their bad launch. All is forgiven and everything has been full throttle after the first few days. They've patched many things up and the mod community has done a great job to pick up the rest of the slack. I'm loving every moment in Dead Island and I am usually quick to put a game down if I don't like where it's going (Warhammer 40k Space Marine for example, although I will get to it eventually; it just lacks depth). Not many games can hold my attention very long. Dead Island has.
Although the characters do fit the setting and themes of Dead Island, they could have been "stronger" characters. That doesn't go without saying, it's terrible, it's just that the game would have benefited from a few strong lead characters that were not only memorable but emotionally engaging. Some NPC's were given the whole dramatization script but it didn't do much for me overall. In their second outing of the series, I'm sure they could work on that a little more; now that they're doing pretty well in sales so I've heard.
As for the Hotel resort mission again, I was on the second level and I accidently fell down to the first floor with the pool. Needless to say, I was greeted with a bunch of warm-hugging (or I should say cold flesh bound in blood) zombies ready to eat me limb from limb. That was a frenetic moment and one of the most memorable. The sense of panic I felt, along with the character's voice actor (Xian) yelling at every melee hit, had my blood rusihing.
