No Diablo III in 2010? That is the case if Blizzard agrees to make it for the consoles also.

Diablo 3 is integrated heavily on Battlenet, which doesn't exist on consoles.
The game being pushed back to be worked on is not evidence of a console port.

it helps to read the article. Blizzard is "in talks to bring Diablo III to the consoles."
"Paul Sams of Blizzard says they haven't ruled out Diablo III for consoles -- and are currently talking to the first parties."
Yeah, don't know if the game has been pushed back and for that reason, but regardless the thought of waiting til 2011+ for Diablo III is....disappointing. Will I still have my friends around to play some D3 COOP with by that time? Oh no! j/k

Sounded too unlikely to read the article.
As I said Diablo 3 is highly integrated into Battlenet, I doubt Blizzard will get exactly what they want from a Microsoft/Sony controlled network.

I don't see why not? BG: Dark Alliance, Champions of Norrath games (there should be more? my console knowledge is really limited) are all hack n' slash RPG, which probably very few people would deny Diablo series as the king of this subgenre. it should do reasonably well on consoles, especially I reckon many Diablo fans own at least one console these days. bury themselves within the couch with their friends playing co-op hacking n' slashing...sounds wonderful.
btw, it's not that Diablo tying to Battlenet; Battlenet is merely one way to run Diablo MP games. it's very feasible to do the same thing with consoles.
Well let's get something a little more definite than a twitter first, last thing we need is SW exploding and declaring the death of PC gaming yet again because someone said on twitter we may lose a high profile exclusive.
Hush child! We can never let this ballad of death drift from our lips onto the steps of SW!!Well let's get something a little more definite than a twitter first, last thing we need is SW exploding and declaring the death of PC gaming yet again because someone said on twitter we may lose a high profile exclusive.

Well you never know, Activision probably like a lot the idea of getting Blizzard games on the consoles since there are a lot of money to be made there. Heck, for all you know, if Activision have its way with Blizzard, you may get a new Diablo game every other year. :P mirgamerhaha that is a benefit :P

but that doesn't mean that they are bringing it over does it? If it heavily intergrated on battlenet then it won't happen imo, blizzard wasn't going to release sc2, wow expansion and d3 all next year anyway.I wouldn't say that they would, most blizzard games are delayed, as they don't rush them and make sure they are great and smooth on launch.

Damn, I'd love to see the lol-rguments that were brought in this thread come out again
Nevertheless, what said here is true, twitter isn't a reliable source, and anyway even Diablo 1 was released on PSX and Starcraft on N64, but neither was delayed on PC for a console port (and neither was as enjoyable as the PC version).
Diablo 3 for consoles?
Most depressing news I've heard in a long time :( Oh well, at least we still have STALKER.
HenriH-42
There is rumors of STALKER 2 coming to consoles :(.
Blizzard talking simply means it will happen in 10 years. Diablo 3 imo was pushed back simply becouse it made sense. 3 Blizzard games would be too much in a year. Cataclysm will sell like crazy thats why its in 2010, Starcraft 2 will sell like crazy and it is a part of a trilogy thats why its in 2010, Diablo 3 will sell well but it will not sell as well as Starcraft of the expansion putting it in a spot where it is competeing with other two would be silly.

I think D3 is more popular than SC2.
Still more popular.
SC2 has a much greater potential.

I think Diablo is more fondly rememberd but you forget that SC is a sport.

I know, what I mean is that a lot of people nowadays don't bother trying RTSs because they think they're too complicated, while Diablo is one of the incarnations of the Action genre and therefore appeals much more to people.
We should see the power of SC2's editor unleashed to really say which one would pwn the most. If it supports hitboxes checking and decently working 3D aiming techniques even shooters could come out of it. Wonder what happens with SC2's races, vehicles and first/third person unit handling. Hell yeah.

You should not judge a game by how modable it is. Most gamers unfourtunately do not care about mods. Most Half-Life 2 mods for example are rarely played. Even the best online mods are deserted and only a few enjoy a bit of success.
Diablo 3 wouldn't be torn apart and recreated for PC. They may take the PC version and jack it up for consoles but blizzard doesn't masacre their babies for consoles, in fact they don't even do consoles anymore.
IF they decided to port Diablo 3 over, thats just it, a port. They will still create Diablo 3 with every feature and every intent for the PC, there is nothing to worry about. Unless your worries are based around fanboyism and wanting to deprive consoles of any version of Diablo 3 out of spite.
The quality of Diablo 3 will be preserved, even if they decide to release a port sometime down the road.

Mods and maps are two completely different things. While mods change how the game engine works (and most mods have to be injected in the game, meaning a lot of synch, online recognizing issues and conflicts/bugs even resulting in crashes), maps use the tools given to their maximum potential to achieve their goals (fixed camera behind a character for third person view, fixed camera on the nose of the character to achieve first person view, and so on).
Don't confuse the two because some random moron calls DotA a mod.
Its just Blizzard. They delay their games to hell and back.Deadly_FatalisLol... Only problem this time is that they delayed Diablo 3 to hell.... but Mephisto grabbed it and is playing it down there....

No, SC2 is more popular in every part of the world. No Diablo III in 2010? That is the case if Blizzard agrees to make it for the consoles also.

More likely than not, a stretegic move because of their SC2 release. They've never released 2 games in one year. Bliz wouldn't delay profits to port to consoles, they would just have several release dates.

Yea basically they want to spread profits over a period of time so investors wouldn't doubt the nexy year for the company. Look at it this way.. if D3,SC2 and WOW:Cat dropped the same year, that year would have insane profits and the following year would definitely be a huge decrease, worrying shareholders. 2010 will mark the first time blizzard is dropping two products in the same year :O
Mostly in South Korea though.I think Diablo is more fondly rememberd but you forget that SC is a sport.

It will still be a hit of course but I bet Diablo 3 will do better.
Why? The first Diablo was on the PSOne, and it was still a good game...I threw up in my mouth abit when I saw D3 + console.

That was before console casualization existed. It started when Xbox 1 was released and has only gotten worse over the years...
Uh, Diablo for consoles? Would that actually work? I mean Diablo is a fast paced game, you need the mouse + kb combination in order to play it with a decent pace. Something the consoles lack in my opinion.
