8/10

You do have an awesome graphics card, nice processor for i7, 6Gigs of DDR3 is more than enough for now, so I'll say it's a good gaming rig. Overclock that and you're all set. ^^

But wait, do you have a cooling liquid/fan for the processor?

Pignas

No, I do not have a cooling liquid/fan for the processor, other than the one it comes with. Also, why an 8? What deserved 2 points off?

[QUOTE="millerlight89"]8/10 -2 just because that case gives me a headache.BluRayHiDef

I specifically asked not to take off points for the keyboard or the case.

I don't care really, you asked what "we" would give it so I gave it an 8.

Okay, putting the case aside, how would you rate it out of a 10? Why? Keep in mind that I'd like you to focus on the performance.

Fair enough, I would give it an 8.7 out of 10. I think if you are buying a PSU today go modular, is it necessary? Nope. Though it is nice to have. I am also not a fan of OCZ ram.

What's wrong with OCZ? Also, how will games look on my TV? (There's a link in the opening post to the TV I have).

I have had bad experiences. I am not saying they are bad, but if it were me I would have opted for a different set.

You can't ask someone to not take off points for certain things. A rating system is supposed to take into consideration of all aspects of a build.

Anyways, I too do not like that case, but the rest of the build is exceptional. 9/10 for me.

I don't see why people don't like the case. The large side viewing window is cool, especially with the addition of that Dragon. I think it would look cool to see all of the parts inside the computer from outside of the case. The ordinary HAF 932 is ugly and has that small half sized window. This case is definitely better.

No it isn't. How can you say the vanilla Haf is ugly and think the AMD version looks better. I wouldn't want a big dragon on the side of my case. Also that fire engine red is pure ugliness.

Maybe this "ugliness" will strike me when I receive the case. However, that Dragon is going to look badass! You can bet your ass on it. What the hell looks cooler than a dragon? Nothing! Also, I've never seen the vanilla HAF; I'll look it up.

You just said the HAF looked ugly. Do you not know "vanilla" means regular. Also I would bet more than my ass on the fact that case is atrocious. I have seen it.

You're sacrificing good features for unnecessary aesthetic features. You're trading a massive 230mm fan that provides good airflow for your components for a big dragon sticker, a bigger window, and a eye-melting bright red paint job. Now, if they kept the side fan there, and they used a darker red, then sure, go for it. But as it is, I detest that case.

To my mind you're all wrong, the standard HAF is not a good looking case (think a factory blue Subaru with a too-large spoiler and racing-stripes). A fire-engine red HAF with a dragon (a dragon for Pete's sake (bro-code: "no bro should ever let a bro get a dragon tattoo")) is like a tricked out Subaru with spinning (dragon)-rims, neon-lighted undercarriage, a "blingin paintjob" and a pair of fuzzy dice in the window. Go with a Corsair obsidian or a Lian-Li, strict, minimalist, oozing build-quality (basically suit-up your rig, bro!).

This thread has been updated. Check the opening post!

BluRayHiDef

I'd suggest getting the Asus P6T deluxe V2 instead :). Also get Windows 7 Pro 64 and don't get a 500 GB hard drive get at least a 640 GB or 750 GB. :)

Why? What's wrong with the one selected? Is it not compatible?

no it is the "limited edition" version which means it's a tad stripped down but it is compatible.

I never said the HAF 932 was a good-looking case. It was supposed to have a military theme, which does not exactly imply looks as a priority. I'll agree with you on the Lian Li and the Corsair case; they do look amazing. I was actually looking through some Lian Li cases to see what they had, and I found this. The case is still black and sleek, but with a really epic side panel with the red color shown only where it matters the most. This would've probably been a better buy for you, Bluray, but alas, it wouldn't have fit in your budget.

I could always take off the side panel if I wanted and place an ordinary fan directly in front of the case's side. Or I could place the case, with the side panel off, in front of an air-conditioner.

Very nice case. But like you said, it wouldn't have fit my budget. Also, its a mid tower case anyhow. As far as I know, the HD 5870 would have a hard time fitting into it.

But like you implied, aesthetics aren't as important as function. Besides, those were just random ideas; I won't actually implement them. On another note, can't I just somehow purchase the side panel to an ordinary HAF 932?

That's because that's the LCS edition of the 5970, or the Liquid Cooling System version. Only works if you have a water cooling system in place, or you're willing to spend the extra cash to buy your own air cooler for it.

Sorry. I confused you with the user who posted a link to theNZXT Tempest EVO Gaming Tower Case.

Pignas

I don't think he was recommending, rather than just asking what we thought.

Yea, that's what I did. I asked if it's good. So yea, any other ideas?

If you're asking if it looks good, it's pretty nice, to say the least.

If you're asking for other alternatives, then I would recommend either the Lancool PC-K62, the HAF 922, or the CM 690 II. However, if you're planning to get the 5970, then you'll only have the HAF 922 or the NZXT Tempest to choose from, as they are the only ones that can fit the 5970, if I recall correctly.

A good idea would be the case I selected. Here it is:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119212

Lol! Alright alright, if you're happy with your choice, then go for it. However, before I'll even consiter choosing that, I would go and review it first. I do research before making a choice.
I'm not denying you, just... giving you an advice.

Yea, I read a review that the CM 690 II will not fit a 5970. Thought imo it is a great case.

Question: Is the stock cooler that comes with the i7-920 good enough for me to overclock it to 3.2GHz? Also, will games that say you need Windows Vista or Xp play on Windows 7? Do games that say you need a processor that runs at a speed greater than the stock speed of the i7-920 (2.66GHz) run well on it at stock speed? For example, Dead Space requires a processor with a speed of 2.8GHz, yet the i7-920's stock speed is only 2.66.

Very nice case. But like you said, it wouldn't have fit my budget. Also, its a mid tower case anyhow. As far as I know, the HD 5870 would have a hard time fitting into it.

BluRayHiDef

A mid tower case isn't too small for a 5870, necessarily. There are plenty of mid-tower cases that can fit it. Heck, this cheap NZXT Gamma budget case fits it :P

Darnnnn. Ah well, my 5850 should fit in my current case for now. Thank you for your suggestions at least. I should go look up on those cases. :)

I would recommend the CM 690 II. If it was a bit bigger I would have gotten it.

Nice! I wish I could've go with that one instead, but I'll see how NXZT EVO goes. As long if it keeps it cool, then I'll be alright. Besides, graphic cards shrinks back down sometimes, so I can still upgrade. :P

I hope they shrink back down, if they get much bigger we will need a case just for the GPU.

Edit: Do you have that case, if so it isn't bad looking. It looks solid.

Yea I think it is a nice looking case. Kind of alien, but at the same time elegant.

Yeah that's an excellent case :)
