What makes you say that ? Oblivion got very high scores too (I'm not saying F3 is bad, just that I think Fallout veterans might be dissapointed)

It's a good game (but a bit overrated). It's a real RPG (unlike Oblivion), better than Oblivion. It's like Oblivion with guns and choices. The story is ok, but nothing special (F1 and F2 didn't have brilliant stories either). The "plot twist" is very cliche and predictable

9 while its better than oblivion and oblivion got higher is not overrated, also when fable 2 fans think it should get a 10.. its underatted!

pc always is superior to consoles now your rig is not much better or worse than the x360 version, its about the same so id suggest you get pc for the mods or x360 if you want to lie down in your bed or something and enjoy it as it is, without a feature add on upgrades or mods , so id say get it for x360 if you care only about the present and not the future! get pc to last for years!

dude seriously i am a huge fallout 2 fan, but this is the rpg of the year propably with more players than alll outher games so am simply play it as a game, about being fallout sequel? i put it this way its more fallout than fallout tactics,THAT wasnt a sequel but a mix of fallout skills and commandos, only the univesre was the same and falllout 3 HAS the same universe and huge worldmap unlike many games, so am fine with this, games are destroyed by sequels for years thats nothing new, also at least bethesada revive the game (its beter than let the title die) and its not done by amateurs like SOF3 but from the best rpg designers !

It probably has something to do with you thinking they're for respect.

1. It helps to see if people have actually played the game they are talking about. I've come across a few posters that say they've beat games, they trash talk them and when you look at their gamertag and see that they only got 20-30 points. It's nice to call their bluffs.

2. You're going to beat the tutorial in GoW anyways. Why would you care that you get something extra for doing it on top of getting some recognition for beating the games on higher difficulties or getting 10,000 kills, or playing the game through co-op, certain amount of headshots...

To me, they are great additions to good games. Achievements won't make me play sucky games but games I'm already addicted to I'll play for longer and try different things I may not have tried before... That doesn't sound like something bad to me.

I admit there are people that will rent kid's games like Cars to get achievements but that's taking things to far. They're fine as long as you're enjoying yourself.

how can you know if never tried them? bethesada made 100% HARDCORE rpgs till morrowind, after that it ame oblivion 50$ not % money making, ship it in consoles was a mistake ps3 sucke just like f3 sucks on ps3, x360 are what you said they are so the gt rating reviewer made clear this aint halo or gears of war, reffering to the hate or call it gay that x360 fans are gonna use on fallout 3, which means is a real rpg, huge map, OWNS FABLE 2, dialogues depending on skills, OWNS FABLE 2 that doesnt even have dialogues your character is yes or no, no sound, aslo the amount of skills creating diffirent classes and so many artibities to select which change everything including scenarios and the fact that it cant be played as fps since moving left or right doesnt make you dodge bullets or the aiming is 100% based on skills, low skill, misses, huigh skills bloody mess, no headshots, no weapon sight, only skill and critical hit based damage, not a watered down game for console casual gamers, as for being immersive, hmm i dont know have you played it in the beggining? they made it more fallout than the actual fallout game, background story and objects like the robot in appearing in fallout 1 intro also appeares here in a vault full of blue suited npcs, cant be more fallout than that, unless if you call fallout tactics an immersive singleplayer rpg!

You might want to actually play the game before you talk about it. The game has a ton more RPG elements than Oblivion so you can totally forget the whole paragraph you just wrote.

and of course Fallout 3 doesn't resemble Fallout 2. it looks a million times better. Now when I look at a Ghoul, I can see skin falling off their faces and pieces of bone and muscle instead of seeing a 2d sprite colored green. If I run into a rad insect, I can see the glimmer off it's carapice and see the damage I'm doing to its legs, head, body... If my head is injured, the screen goes blurry, if my arms are injured I can't aim worth crap, if my legs are injured my guy walks at a turtle's pace.

No longer do I have ti wait through a long, drawn out combat sequence when I know 1 shot from my shotgun will blow a rat apart. Now if I run into 5 rats, they're dead really quick. However if I'm running into a raider sniper. I can go into VATS and try to target certain parts so the guy isn't picking me off left and right.

Again I can go on and on but then again you seem like a person that likes to get his/her opinions from listening about games and not actually playing them. There's really no point.

i dont think its respect but thats what x360 fanboys, not users fanboys think, good idea about claim they do eg that user hasnt play fallout 3 so how he judges it? but i dont plan on doing stupid stuff like the a "burn 1000 people in mp" or something i prefer the "killed 1000 people with headshot", some achievements suck but if you love the game then yes am gonna get something like "listen to the worst radio station for 1000 hours" however still i think its a poor joke, rather entertaiment, expect if you have completed all those game, which by the way i have completed alot of games in my pc that people almost never heard, dont i deserve an achievement? LOL, ohh why did you said people wanna get achievements from cars? the more achivements points the better? no matter from where? serisouly i dont know?

i dont think its respect but thats what x360 fanboys, not users fanboys think, good idea about claim they do eg that user hasnt play fallout 3 so how he judges it? but i dont plan on doing stupid stuff like the a "burn 1000 people in mp" or something i prefer the "killed 1000 people with headshot", some achievements suck but if you love the game then yes am gonna get something like "listen to the worst radio station for 1000 hours" however still i think its a poor joke, rather entertaiment, expect if you have completed all those game, which by the way i have completed alot of games in my pc that people almost never heard, dont i deserve an achievement? LOL, ohh why did you said people wanna get achievements from cars? the more achivements points the better? no matter from where? serisouly i dont know? thenewau25

I'm just saying that achievements are options. Just like resolution settings and things like that. If you don't like them then you don't have to worry about them but if you like a game, they can help you find things out.

Let's take Fable 2 for instance. When I play an RPG or action RPG, I usually don't mess with magic but this game makes you take a magic spell. I picked raise dead and played through the game. When I looked at the achievements I saw one was there for killing 5 people with a single spell. I thought my raise dead spell was maxed out and I never got this achievement so I switched my spell to Shock and found out that it was an awesome spell that can kill everyone around me or I can aim it at people. Now if i'm getting swarmed I use that spell.

I got an achievement and I also kick a little more ass now. Win - win situation.

I mention the Cars game because some people do just rent cheap games and get achievements, and people also cheat to get them too especially on online matches. For Single player games like Fallout 3, Achievements are just a bonus. for MP games they can suck and ruin the experience.

well i didnt find fable that great when it came on pc we had oblivion so an 8, not much of a hardcore rpg and worldmap? NOT lol great game but not what you call a masterpiece rpg in any case thats my point in fable you gonna ahve to learn a spell to try it and achievement and find out you wasted xp that you could use on your primary spell so you mostly drop some spells and not play with them, so if there is no bonus for me doing it, its better for me, but in games like far cry 2 or fallout 3 there are bouns for sidemissions which really help, unlike stalker that you do sidequests and you dont know what to do with the extra money, well nothing to buy not even extra ammo for my guns, so achievements are good if you wanna complete anything cuz you love the game or simple for mp, eg in cod4 they are MUST lol i got an mp 44 !!!! but i dont get why to get achievements from cars or eg conflict denied ops? who cares? do you get something extra for collecting achivements in xbox live?

[QUOTE="ZuluEcho14"]Fallout 3 sucks, end of discussion.thenewau25

oh come on dude , only because is not like the previous? please i am the biggest fallout 2 fan, i think best rpg ever but i got past that, eg is far cry 2, far cry at all? or the deus ex 1 and 2 that are from the same designers, do they really look the same? they are so diffirent, is SOF3 the same as the previous? come on just say i dont like bethesade elder of scrolls titles!

Ask me its good that someone with quality revived the game, eg SOF 3 ,ouch

I have the right to have my opinion, even if it is a raging fanboyistic one. :P

dude seriously i am a huge fallout 2 fan, but this is the rpg of the year propably with more players than alll outher games so am simply play it as a game, about being fallout sequel? i put it this way its more fallout than fallout tactics,THAT wasnt a sequel but a mix of fallout skills and commandos, only the univesre was the same and falllout 3 HAS the same universe and huge worldmap unlike many games, so am fine with this, games are destroyed by sequels for years thats nothing new, also at least bethesada revive the game (its beter than let the title die) and its not done by amateurs like SOF3 but from the best rpg designers !

The game tries to be a sequel to a game that doesn't even resemble, if I know Bethesda (which I don't because I never played any of their games so I just listen to what everyone says around this forum so I'll roll with it) this game isn't even a RPG, it can't even be called an RPG so I'll start referring it with commas, so, this "RPG" is nothing but a low-depth, non-immersive, dumbed down for console tards FPS with light RPG elements and an absolute pile of ****!!!

how can you know if never tried them? bethesada made 100% HARDCORE rpgs till morrowind, after that it ame oblivion 50$ not % money making, ship it in consoles was a mistake ps3 sucke just like f3 sucks on ps3, x360 are what you said they are so the gt rating reviewer made clear this aint halo or gears of war, reffering to the hate or call it gay that x360 fans are gonna use on fallout 3, which means is a real rpg, huge map, OWNS FABLE 2, dialogues depending on skills, OWNS FABLE 2 that doesnt even have dialogues your character is yes or no, no sound, aslo the amount of skills creating diffirent classes and so many artibities to select which change everything including scenarios and the fact that it cant be played as fps since moving left or right doesnt make you dodge bullets or the aiming is 100% based on skills, low skill, misses, huigh skills bloody mess, no headshots, no weapon sight, only skill and critical hit based damage, not a watered down game for console casual gamers, as for being immersive, hmm i dont know have you played it in the beggining? they made it more fallout than the actual fallout game, background story and objects like the robot in appearing in fallout 1 intro also appeares here in a vault full of blue suited npcs, cant be more fallout than that, unless if you call fallout tactics an immersive singleplayer rpg!

I have stated my opinion and I shall not change it until I have played Fallout 3 for myself and have experienced it first hand, but right now, this is my impression and opinion of the game.

There's really no point.

well belive it but graphics were so epic in fallout years, good that fallout 3 kept up to it! Oh have you noticed if the skills are making any impact on dialogies options?

Yeah they do. There was a guy that I tried to use speech for to find out a secret about another guy but i failed and instead had to use 100 caps to find it out. I also realized I could have hacked into this one guys computer to find out that secret.

Right in that instance there's 3 ways to find out the same thing about someone. That amount of choice was unheard of in Oblivion. Then when I ran into the guy who i knew the secret of... I could have either used speech to help him out, I could have extorted him or I could ask him where he gets his drugs from on top of basic dialogue questions. So again, the scenario plays out a couple different ways.

Then there was this one quest where I had to go to a mine field and see if I could get a mine. even the the game runs in realtime, I had to have a high amount of agility to get close enough to the mine and disarm it without setting it off. Needless to say I wasn't very good at it and set off quite a few before I was able to get one.

Another thing is, locks that can be picked, computers that can be hacked and things that can be fixed, require you be a certain level before you can even try to do it. So it's not like oblivion that if you have enough time and enough equipement that you can break into anything or fix anything you want.

I can go on and on about how the game is better than oblivion RPG wise. It really feels like it's not even written by the same people that wrote Oblivion the way the game plays out.

ZuluEcho14 you do that but my crysis opinion didnt change the weapon based combat looked mediocre (using only guns) and still does apart from the upgraded warhead, but rpgs are something you MUST play dont judge on how it looks, did all that shooting videos showed you any in depth dialogues with dififrnt character, or what happen if the character sucked with weapons? so i guess make a character and try it out in an internet cafe or something!

smerlus seems like a total rpg i hope ZuluEcho14 did read your post cuz it seems fallout allright

I have to mention that the game feels somewhere inbetween Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. Fallout 2 had a ton of great humor and pop culture jokes and that is mostly abscent from Fallout 3. But so far it seems to be just about the same on the level of RPGness as Fallout 1 with a few things added in.

I've been neer so much radiation that I got a bonus perk where high levels of radiation actually heal crippled limbs (it also makes the character sick, reduces stats and 1000 points of it and the game is over)

Karma is handed out when you do nice things and taken away if you steal or kill random town folk. So far I've run into a merc that won't follow me because I'm too good a person.

1 thing different is you find a lot more things. There's a ton of items you can pick up that can be used for scraps to repair things or actually build weapons (a lunchbox, some cherry bombs, some glue and some caps and you got yourself a bottle cap mine)

It's really a different game. The only thing that reminds me of Oblivion is how the combat is (in realtime the only time you miss is if you actually miss, but if you want to use VATS to disarm or injure a certain body part then you get a percentage) The way dialogue zooms in on the person you're talking to and the fact that most buildings and towns are sperate load screens.

OK do you think that fallout tactics is a more worthy to be called fallout than this ZuluEcho14?

seriously tactics wasnt that deep in rpg so for me its mor a singleplayer rpg that tactical game with rpg elements!

[QUOTE="ninjaw04"]I know this might be a silly un-important question, but i was just thinking about getting this game for my pc instead of my 360...DOES THE WINDOWS VERSION GET ACHIEVEMENTS?thenewau25

achievements are a disigrace in pc gaming

I agree, Why would Pc gamers want extra challenges in game that might prolong gameplay?

thats my point beating a game in pc is not some kinda sleazy trick? or ill get an online achiement for setting something on fire, eg a kitty, or even becasue i completed the first tutorial level in gears of war, Ohhhhh what a player, RESPECT, makes no sense !

They're fine as long as you're enjoying yourself.

i dont think its respect but thats what x360 fanboys, not users fanboys think, good idea about claim they do eg that user hasnt play fallout 3 so how he judges it? but i dont plan on doing stupid stuff like the a "burn 1000 people in mp" or something i prefer the "killed 1000 people with headshot", some achievements suck but if you love the game then yes am gonna get something like "listen to the worst radio station for 1000 hours" however still i think its a poor joke, rather entertaiment, expect if you have completed all those game, which by the way i have completed alot of games in my pc that people almost never heard, dont i deserve an achievement? Hey guys i was just asking...i like achievements and don't exploit them like i know some individuals do...i like the achievements that actually mean something...now things like beating the tutorial level of gears of war and beatin "TMNT" to get a quick thousand are silly things. Its cool to have proof that you have beaten a game and its there on your record. I was gonna get FALLOUT 3 even if it didn't have that in it...just was trying to decide the difference between the PC and 360 version...beside better graphics if i put it on my PC of course :)

Thats not really the game fault, thats secureroms fault. Bethesda kindly said they wouldn't use it for the game and instead decided to put the most dangerous version of it with fallout 3. So a lot of people aren't happy right now.

I can't figure out to use the console in Fallout 3.

I've done it before on games but it's not working.

I put this in the target line of the shortcut (of course it doesn't say blahblah) "....blahblahblah.exe" -console

But in the game I push the ` key and it doesn't pop up a console window.

Where exactly does the shortcut point? To the "Fallout launcher" or just the plain 'ol "fallout 3 application" .exe ?

Plus I'm still in the vault...beginning...maybe it doens't work here yet?

Thanks!

to me, the most important question to ask is this --

if i like Fallout and Fallout 2, and dislike all Bethesda titles thus far, would i like Fallout 3?

i welcome any series veteran to answer this question.

To anyone who's actually got the game, I wanted to know whether Fallout 3's enemies also level up with you as you progress, as this is the only thing that I don't like about Oblivion.

Thanks in advance.
