Ok. I'm amazed.

Quick story:
My cousin got me hooked on Civilization Revolutionfor the PS3. After I beat that game every way possible, he tells me: "That's nothing. You got to try Civilization IV Warlords on the computer."
I've always had this mental block when it came to PC gaming. I don't know why but I just always thought it was too nerdy for me.

Anyway, I go and buy Civilization IV Warlords, and install it on my PC.

This is the greatest strategy game experience I've ever had in my entire life. I now see the difference between PC and console gaming. Civ IV on PC is 100x the game it is on PS3.

And I'm not here to bash consoles. I just want to express my amazement towards how advanced PC strategy games are compared to ANYTHING i've ever seen or played on any console. It's total night and day. I'll be playing all my strategy games on PC from now on.

My cousin now tells me that FPS's and RPG's are better on the PC too.
IDK about that. Really?

Yeah I would definitely say RPG's are better on PC since you can get mods and increase the Resolution and graphics anyway you would like it. Same for some FPS's such as COD 4 because you can get map packs for free, user created maps for free, and oh yeah no Auto-Aim assist.

He is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.

EVERY (Well, about 99 %)single multiplatform game is better on the PC. In some way or another...

Avoid the bad ports like GTA IV and you should be fine.

Another great thing about PC Gaming is the mods. If you loved Civ 4 you can try out all the mods ..http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=171 My favorite is the fall from heaven 2 mod (it's civilization set in fantasy setting)

2. Oh yes, FPSs and RPGs are far, far better on PC. Consoles dont get the old school DnD RPGs we get, they get watered down action-games-with-dashes-of-RPG like Oblivion and Fallout 3. Controls are better (give it some time to adjust, but you'll see what I mean) and the visuals are better

Absolutely

i agree most are better: the witcher, bioshock, half life 2, red alert 3 is better, elder scrolls 4, any tom clancy game, counter strike, doom 3, quake 4, unreal tournament 3.. and the lsit goes on... heck ill throw arkham asylum & dirt & GRID in there for good measure.

really pc's do offer a much crisper preformance console quality is equal to (roughly) high - very high quality no AA or AF on most games with a pc and console port. with aa & AF on hgihest quality you can really see the difference also consoles are designed to run there games at about 30-45 fps whereas we here in PC land can get 30-60+ (after 60 your eyes cant catch the difference)

I'd say PC gaming is best for Strategy and MMO/RPG games. This is only also true for FPS's, but only if you got the hardware to run them. Most of us do, but we pay a serious premium for it.

Get the Witcher. It isn't the best RPG that the computer offers but it easily is the most rounded and easiest to appreciate because of how well-rounded it is. That should give you a good idea of why I will almost never play an RPG on a console.

nVidiaGaMer

The same for MMORPGs and shooters. RTS and MMOG needs keyboard for hotkeys and macros and the speed of the mouse can be crucial in micro management. In fps there is no contest about mouse > pad. I only known a single player (j00k) capable to do similar things with a pad that with a mouse (He is a pro, and I'm sure that with mouse his level is even better).

one can argue simulatoir games can be good to ( flight simulators specifically such as ace combat or battlestations: pacific, or wolves of the pacific.)

Yes, with any game on the PC (be it RTS, FPS, RPG), you have the capability to download and install patches to remedy any bugs or glitches that were in the original game. Then there's downloadable content and mods from user communities (if the game allows mods).

With a PC, you can do hardware upgrades to enhance your gaming experience: more memory, a different operating system, a better graphics card. You just have to make sure of compatibility issues, motherboard design, and power supply capacity.

FPS, RPG and RTS are much better on PC, i find it amusing that you would think FPS and RPG would be better on console... seriously?

Also RTS is traditionally a PC genre, it's just plain bad with a gamepad plus low resolutions don't help when you need to see all the details.

i LOL hard at jrpgs being better in any way shape or form. i dont pay money to watch cartoon characters with giant eyes and weird hairdos run around and hit things with a sword 15 feet long. does the sweet jpop soundtrack factor into the price, or is that extra?

But the pc is not having bugs or crashes and it doesnt require new hardware due to bad ports and optimazaion.... What? You think am wrong? No am not wrong i am just exaggerating a bit but so does Brocoli, consoles dont cost that much neither they suck, games cost more than pc games but Activivsion is here to change that....

I always wonder about the mentality of people who are seemingly unable to see the obvious merits of certain things. Is it a "my toy is better than yours" kind of thing? Is it the need to justify not enjoying something and rationalizing since you don't enjoy it, it must "suck"? Whatever :P

I wonder more about the mentality of people who bring SW threads to PC forum or deliberately pick system flame wars any chance they get.

Ok.

Really?

Oblivion and Fallout 3 are NOT watered down action games with a dash of RPG... I think you are confused as to what an RPG is.

Ok.

/>This is the greatest strategy game experience I've ever had in my entire life.

Really?

1. First Civ 4...then try Galactic Civilizations 2 and Sins of a Solar Empire! Will blow your mind

Oblivion and Fallout 3 are NOT watered down action games with a dash of RPG... I think you are confused as to what an RPG is.

Compared to what the PC is used to (Baldur's Gate, Planescape, Icewind Dale, Witcher, Neverwinter Nights, Morrowind, etc.) Oblivion and Fallout 3 ARE watered down.

To the OP: Here's a small list of ****cs that every PC gamer must go through:
