I'm in the same boat. I'll most likely stick with Win7 on my PC. Might get a Win 8 Tablet depending on how much they are, and I might upgrade the family PC to Win8.

Is it true that Windows 8 makes it illegal to purchase & download software trough any other store front than Marketplace? I mean, i have countless pieces of software installed, both free and purchased, since i play around with web design, and movie making from time to time; Let's say i switch to Win8. If MS doesn't approve of a particular one, i can't use it? What about modding, and special software design for certain games that makes modding easier.

Steam is successful on its own merits. It doesn't block other digital stores from existing on any platform. Microsoft only wants their store to exist on some editions of Windows 8.

I did not like Windows 8 at all. It would make more sense on a tablet but on the desktop it sucks to me. Tasks that were once simple now require more steps or were completely removed in Windows 8. It makes no sense. Jamex1987

Besides the Metro UI which I don't find much of a problem what is wrong with Windows 8, the only things I find wrong with are really only thing that are so far rumors

It's not the lack of a start menu that is bad. It's the fact that metro is getting forced into the equation and metro is an awful UI for a desktop environment.

I have a win8 VM at work and home, and use them both quite extensively. Things that took 1-3 steps before now take 5-6 steps and things that took 2-3 steps before take 1 now.

It's not better, it is just a different way of doing it wrong.
