Played a little bit and then hard locked.

Didn't get into the combat, but it looks to me similar to one of those Asian MMOs in terms of design and character movement. Not that it's a bad thing.

I'm just curious how smashed the servers are going to be when beta goes live.

I think one of the forum communities I post on semi-regularly is organizing a group for the beta, so I guess I'm going to be on the Fort Aspenwood server.

hmmmm....not a fan of the look of asian mmos. That whole speed racer look is terrible imo. I'll just have to see myself I guess.

honestly, i have been enjoying TERA more. GW2 is well made, and i like how dynamic the questing is..... but in terms of "fun", i find TERA to be better. it plays better, has better combat and better graphics. GW2 has better questing and better dynamic content, but just isnt as "fun" to play. the combat was just too slow and unremarkable after playing TERA.... and lets face it, in an MMO you spend the majority of your time in combat so it better be one of the best parts of the game.

Overall, so far, slightly disappointed with GW2. definitely not the MMO revolution it was cracked up to be. definitely worth playing though since there is no sub involved.

PS. been in past betas... not this one since i decided not to purchase and go with TERA instead. maybe things have changed?

Well, I thought the NDA was lifted, but a MOD told me it isn't. And said to be careful as people would sabotage me. In my defense, I have talked about the beta openly on this forum even when the NDA was in full tact during the first beta.

To add, I have never see you post in this forum so for you to conveniently appear into a GW2 thread on the first day of beta, and not see you in other previous GW2 threads, sounds mildly suspicous. I wouldn't be surprised if you worked for Bluehole Studio (TERA).

Well I just played about an hour. It's...different. I like it though and think once they optimize it and clean it up it's going to be a very good game. Only time will tell.

Going back to SWTOR for the rest of the weekend. :)

incase you havent had a load of beta experience.... by the time a game hits open beta (like GW2)..... the experience you see is pretty much the experience you are going to have at release. after CB shuts down, the "its beta" excuse ceases to really carry any weight.

nothing super drastic is really going to change in the 4-6 weeks until release after OB shuts down for any MMO.

GW2 still isnt optimised, i can just about play on medium settings with my specs.

Just played two hours of the game. Besides the lag, it's great.

But the game isn't that demanding.

Well, I do have a feel complaints:

1. Most of the servers are mobfests, i.e., everyone is just spamming their autoattacks and doing little else.

2. It's extremely chaotic.

3. The combat leaves a bit to be desired - I found myself spamming the numpad mostly.

4. The graphics are meh.

It's not a bad free to play MMO, but, there is something missing...

Well, this'll be fun.
