All of the new modes are great. Action mode is great for some running and gunning, Realism is incredibly lethal and tense, Classic brings back that old RO feel, and normal is still great amongst the new ones.

I have a hard time picking a favorite, though I'd have to say I LOVE realism mode. It goes even further in brutal realism, and makes even pistols lethal.

So action mode is really great for people to blow off some steam with a bolt action... Just saying, there's a bunch of new players who don't understand the basics of cover :P.

When you get kills at 118+ metres, you start to feel really good about yourself.

Amazing update, took care of many bugs.

Well its not how ro is meant to be but i love the action mode.

Sharpie125

Whatever gets people playing, man. I saw a video and it reminds me of old Call of Duty or Medal of Honor Allied Assault, but way more deadly. I even want to try it, but I'm too much of a purist at heart :P.

Yea really feels like Cod 1, really miss games being like it. I just hope the community doesn't die agian

After playing for an hour on classic mode. (I never played the game before). Being a Project Reality mod player, I can say the game is neat in it's own aspect but just feels to clunky for me. It's not what I imagined it would be. I obviously can't give too much of a cohesive impression about it, but the only real enjoyment I got out of it was the hillarious voip conversations going on.

Wow, a lot of negativity here. I actually picked up the game this weekend. I think it has a fantastic feel that just strikes a nice balance between authenticity and explosive FPS action (in Action mode at least). I hope this game gains some more crowd, as I'm really enjoying it so far.

Its sweet when you do 200+ meter shots with a bolt action rifle (no sniper scope). People go nutz and call you a hacker :)

This game has been on my wishlist for a long time, just never got to buy it. I never played the first one, but knowing that it is a multiplayer-heavy game, didn't think I needed to. This weekend I saw the deal on Steam (free weekend and only £6.24 for the game!). Installed the game and played it for 2 hours. In those 2 hours I had an amazing time. There wasn't any mic spam, it was a well balanced game, was intense, I had to focus and think about everything I do and analyse the situation well. It brought me a fresh-breeze, different to any other FPS I've played. The servers were well organised, there never was a problem with finding a server, maps were well-balanced and interesting - there is almost always another way to approach a certain target. Almost straight away I purchased it and so far had a blast of a time! Been enjoying every minute of it so far. :D

Well, thanks for making me look bad :(. My personal record is 132 m I believe. All that pixel hunting in RO1 is finally paying off. This might be the only FPS game that makes you feel like a friggin' god with every rifle kill.

I don't.

I bet... I get dips around 20-30fps on a full 64p server outdoors. BF3 doesn't even touch 30FPS in any case on high settings. The game is incredibly unoptimized.

It works perfectly fine, they did an amazing job with this patch, it's like a completely new game, I couldn't believe how smooth it was, it seemed like it had 100 frames +, not just 60, but I see how somebody might have random problems compared to BF 3, considering that RO 2 has way more complex and detailed levels, not just a big almost empty space with pretty big, but empty buildings, that blinds you with special effects, the only time it's close to RO 2 is when most of the destructible elements on an entire map are in pieces.

As long as it's a "true PC game" it's alright. As long as it's Blizzard it's ok. As long as it's BF it's ok.......I love people. The game has crashed on me around 15 times. Everything is maxed out in this pic. I even ran gamebooster. All the settings in my control panel are on default.

Radeon 6870(Newest drivers) AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHz 4GB of DDR3 I run BF3 better. Hell, I think even Crysis runs way better.

If it's ATI then I see what could go wrong, both the game and drivers, since ATI and UE 3 never mixed, ATI doesn't bother to fix compatibility issues (they never bother with anything - just remembered, partially wrong, they never miss the chance to advertise in a Dirt game, that's the only game where they bother to closely develop drivers with game developers) and Epic and any other company not directly involved into the creation of the engine, doesn't care about lazy hardware developers enough to motivate them not to be lazy bastards, Tripwire can only fix the game and they have, big time, it's flawless on Nvidia.

There's only one UE 3 game that pushes the engine so far, even further and that's Batman AC, which has problems on both brands, but way more on ATI (without taking PhysX into consideration). UE 3 games "always" had problems on ATI, the're extremely high chances of having problems, but not guaranteed.

I ran Batman:AC flawlessly on DX10 with PhysX off.

Make sure hardware physics is off in game options, its physx. I have a GTX 560 and have it maxed and its smooth as butter and no crashes, so its most likely a software/driver issue on your end.

UE 3 based games tend to have issues on AMD based gpu's, Nvidia tends to gave better driver and compatibility with games then does AMD.

Time to do a fresh windows install with latest drivers , because that would rule out any software based issues with windows/drivers. Then if it continues to do it then its hardware issue.

God dammit. Last night I was showing my friend around, I managed to pick off a German in Fallen Heroes at 147m and I was giddy, and immediately after, my friend makes a kill at 181m (his first and only kill in RO2). What the ****, man.

I have the Nvidia 301.42 drivers and I reinstalled RO2 after the GOTY edition was released, it doesn't crash -that- often but it's often enough to be annoying. But it's darn nice to play the game with (0 bots) :D

Yeah, it also crashes occasionally for me as well, with ATI Radeon 5770 and the latest drivers installed. Strangely enough, it has only happened while loading one of the single player missions so far. I've also noticed that this game doesn't like XFire.

Weird.... I run Xfire all the time never encountered crashing

I should note that the XFire-related crashing also happened in single player only, whenever I was trying to skip the intro movie to a mission. This happened multiple times, but at the same time I never had problems skipping the movie while XFire was turned off.

So everyone, whats the verdict so far? The game have new life or should I expect it to die out again? Is there a point in getting it or is a pass?Gamesterpheonix

I don't know if this is a definite revival of the game, but so far, friends who tried out the game during the free weekend really liked it. And the same goes for me. I bought the game instantly and intend on playing it a lot.

[QUOTE="04dcarraher"][QUOTE="Jebus213"][QUOTE="04dcarraher"] Time to do a fresh windows install with latest drivers , because that would rule out any software based issues with windows/drivers. Then if it continues to do it then its hardware issue.

Give me a break....

Sorry to burst your bubble, constant crashing is ethier a software/driver issue or a hardware problem

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's the games issue. You sure do like defending this game in any way don't you? Even if it's as stupid as what you just said.

also bf3 sucks

True words.

My laptop with a GT540m can run RO2 on the high preset with good frame rates. I havent' even attempted to run BF 3 on it.

UE 3 based games tend to have issues on AMD based gpu's, Nvidia tends to gave better driver and compatibility with games then does AMD.

My main gaming PC has a ATI 5850, and it ran the game great even before the patch. Maybe I'm just lucky.

O yeah its just the game  then more people would experience these game breaking issues.

The problem is on your end.

I reinstalled my OS a month ago and I have no hardware issues. At this point it's the game. You're filled with RO2 pride right now aren't you?

Its really unclear right now. I guess if tripwire decides to keep supporting it. It will live on but sadly i see the player base drouping in to the hundreds again within a month or two. I think it will just end up unless they keep making major improvements a game that people play till something they are interested in comes out

If you have a semi fresh install of Windows and up to date drivers then it has to be your computer configuration aka your 6870 causing your problem aka a hardware/driver issue. Heck ive seen someone on another forum go from a GTX 480 to an AMD 7970 and get lower fps on the 7970 then 480, the only thing I can think of is to shut off Ambient Occlusion.
