The thing about so many people hating it is many played Guild Wars 1 and were in love with it, expecting to get the EXACT same with Guild Wars 2

They got something TOTALLY different with GW2 though and thus, whining on it, can't accept that the market already is completely oversaturated with the old formula that GW1 had and thus whining and hating on it all the time.

Also: If people's opinions and critic scores don't count....

Do the almost 1 Million fans on their official FB Page do? ^^

Internet forums are a vocal minority.

GW2 is well worth the investment.

U loike a gaem thah i dunch liek? How is this possible!?!? U must be teh bihgest lier in teh world! ...i really dun get the attitude of some of the forumers. GW2 is one of the more successful mmos recently and last i checked, like a couple days ago, the servers are pretty healthy and stabilised. But of course, tastes varies, a fact completely unfathomable to some in this very thread but reviews galore so help yourself. In fact i would really suggest that u put in a bit of effort and watch some playthrough videos that show char creation to the early beginnings just so you get to see a bit of what you might be getting into.

Nothing is wrong with liking the game. As for myself, I just said how the game from what I have seen from the communities I visit, the game has a lot of hate. This is Gamespot, not a site that shall not be named.

Also, the TC also mentioned that he played the game before but the game couldnt hold his interest on his engineer. To which I recommended, play another class, the classes are varied enough with unique playstyles per class. They may seem homogenized though until you play them, then you can truly appriciate the diversity.

What the hell are you talking about? There were barely any MMOs like Guild Wars 1 ..... get your facts straight, nobody in existance saw guild wars 1 as an "EQ CLONE". Yet another white knight trying to justify why this game gets so much hate in obsurd ways, the reality is its shallow..... nothing else mate.

I totally agree with you, GW1 was one of a kind in the MMO genre, GW2 however, has fallen into the vulgar type of play, or "old formula" as Justforvisit calls it, that games like WoW have. That was exactly what I hoped it didn't happen in this game, but yet, it did...

Did you play GW1?

GW1 had nothing do with the DikuMUD formula at all. In fact, I recall hearing it frequently being compared to Magic The Gathering. Also, I recall being one of the million fans on FB. I just cant be arsed to take it off (not like I ever use FB anymore anyway).

But I will give you this, a lot of the people who dislike GW2 are generally avid mmo goers, who saw the game as a game that took the dumbing down too far.

Edit: And yes, GW1 feels more unique than GW2.
