[QUOTE="biggest_loser"][QUOTE="drg0nzo1"][QUOTE="biggest_loser"] But would this also mean that its less likely that you're going to run into a clan when you have a team of randoms yourself? There's nothing I hate more when that happens on L4D - they're too coordinated.

I don't think thats necessarily true. If you had a server browser where you could just avoid clan practice servers etc, or quickly jump to another game if you ran into a clan that's stomping everyone. L4D is a good example, its a pseudo matchmaking system instead of a server browser (even though there IS a server browser you can access) the average player just joins a game, and has no control over over who they are playing with before they load up the game. I think it makes it less competitive all around, for both clans and the average player.

But in Versus when you start a lobby you can invite whoever you like. So you can invite your clan team mates and put them on your team to slaughter others - I've seen it happen more than never.

Yeah thats what im saying, its even easier with a matchmaking/lobby setup to have a pub stomp than it is with dedicated servers. One big reason is that you aren't going to have many regular players on your servers when you stack teams and constantly slaughter the opposing side. Its easier to avoid it with a server browser and a lot of dedicated servers.

"We're just prioritizing the player experience above the modders and the tuners," says West. He points toward the mounting feedback IW has received from PC fans of Modern Warfare who couldn't find a decent server to play on between all of the cheaters, the insular communities, and huge skill level disparities that the original game's community fractured into.article
lol. If most of the fans didn't prefer to have separate communities and servers with skill level disparities, they wouldn't be playing there, and there would be no such issue with having a hard time finding standard servers. Clearly a lot of people do... so what is IW really trying to accomplish? As I understand it, there's gonna be a mix of pros and noobs who can't aim for ****, that'll be fun!

As chancellor of PC Games Biggest Loser IV, I expect thou to put up more of a fight. Why do thou lay down thoust arms, when thou can bring happiness to all men amongst these lands.

For we PC Gamers must join arms, band together and hold down thou posts. For we possess skills that no other system nor console can outmatch. Intellect, endurance, superiority and strength bring more diverse and strong recruits to our platform.

But yet, we must STILL fight for what is rightfully our own. For decades the kingdom of InfinityWard has been planting our fields with rich and ripening COD seeds - which we then rewarded them with millions of gold and feedback but in our land, tihngs must get sour. Merely a week ago, they plucked those plump seeds and went over to our weaker yet growing enemies. For what reason was this? Simply because the other side offers more potential to gold, but who was there when they were merely a minor castle in a land ruled by us. We stood by them but yet they constnatly insult our intelligence with ignorant and idiotic phrases taken from the mind of their dark wizard Fourzerotwo.

Thus, Chancellor Biggest Loser IV is why thoust shalst mount thy steed and travel with me and the rest of the community to make sure that Infinity Ward continues to ripen our lands with the rich seeds and not settle for minimum seed which we cannot even feed the masses with.

Here yeeh here - lets go home. Folks, this is still a video game and I don't see the need to be calling people D-Bags etc over it. And I think IW has been a very solid developer up till now and that we should WAIT for some other form of input before judging this. This is not a decision they would have made overnight. I would assume that they would have taken into consideration a lot of the ping/lag issues. So lets calm down lol, put our heads back on for a moment here, and just wait. This is not unlike the hysteria for L4D2 and with more information that "boycott" has been made to look silly.

We're going to learn a lot about IW in the next few weeks I think.

Good or bad, we shall see...

This is the same developer that released Call Of Duty 2 without any anti-cheat protection out of the box. They knew that cheating/hacking was a problem on their previous game, because they had to release multiple patches for the first Call Of Duty, including Punkbuster support. Yet they released the sequel without anti-cheat out of the box.

The game's community was in uproar and posted their concerns for months on the official forums. When IW still didn't listen, they arranged a server shut down for a day to make their point. It took IW six months to release a patch that included Punkbuster support for CoD 2. During that time, server admins had to police their servers 24/7 and constantly spec players in order to catch and kick cheaters. I know, because I was admin on our clan's server at the time, and spent more hours specing than playing, and kicked quite a few hackers. Modders were the ones who came out with scripts to prevent people using the many glitches on the stock maps.

This 'solid' developer has made bad mistakes before, and were just as arrogant in the past, trying to dismiss the concerns raised by thousands of players. So their current stance on MW2 doesn't surprise me at all. In fact, what surprises me more is the short memory of many gamers on these boards and elsewhere.

As for stopping juggernauts, well, I heard that 300 Spartans stopped a quarter million Persians in their tracks. They might have died, but they made their point, I think.

I did not by any means say IW was perfect SIR. All companies make mistakes and you were able to control your problem even if it was not ideal, until the developer took the reigns of it. Save your judgment till others play the game. You might make your point, but it wont stop the game from selling big elsewhere. Thats a fact. But I mean really, holding this grudge against a company since 05 and waiting for them to slip up again - move on!! More important things to worry about in the world!! Either that or you can wait for me to get my tinfoil hat so we can hang out on the weekends at the ice-cream parlor!!!

I would say raising a price of a product unnecessarily is a thing to worry about, and just because there are more important things to worry about does not mean that we should ignore other problems.

I was referring to the grudge he's kept since 2005. I can just imagine him lounging alone in his lair, a glass of brandy in his hand, casually throwing darts at the face of the CEO of IW every cold, thunderous evening since 05!

"Blast these poor inconsiderate fools for their failings, stealing all my money and presenting this pitiful display of so-called "cheat-free mult-EYE-player!!" Oh yes ahem. That is how you uhh say it isn't it? Consarnit! What is the meaning of this tomfoolery Where is Lord Ocampo when I need him!! Summon him at once to deal with this so-called "pronunciation" mwahahhah!"

MW2 will not be perfect - It might not even be as good as the other games. But we don't have to dwell on it for 4 years!!

And then one day as he drew back his hand to throw a fresh dart into the face of the CEO as he always did, a raven purched itself on his doorway! Quoth the raven: "Dedicated Servers: Nevermore!!"

I don't think he is dwelling on it.... He probably just mentioned because it was relevant to the discussion.(You said they were solid developers, and he brought it up to counter your point)

"One of the many lines which stuck out was Adam Biessener's apologia-esque unquestioning reprocessing of Infinity Ward's line: "all they lose is the ability to customize the game on a deeper level with mods and such".

All we lose? How can someone who has even slightly involved in gaming culture say that? You can only presume that his entire experience of the form has been filtered through a console's control straightjacket. This is like someone from a totalitarian regime failing to understand why so many people in another country are so upset at losing their vote – after all, it's easy to dismiss something you've never had. Well, it's either that or blank, stupid servility. Either way, it makes me furious.

Because that's what the whole Modern Warfare 2 situation is about; it's about control. It's about a developer wanting to own its own service – something you can only pull off when you have a game big enough to leverage it onto people's hard-drive much like Rockstar's attempt to launch the social club off the back of GTA4. Because if they really cares about the transparency of the core user experience, they'd have used one of the many already existent services and not have to hassle everyone else with theirs – let alone one which, with the clock ticking down to launch, doesn't appear to have had a public stress-testing yet. Because if that falls over on launch, that piece seems even more openly duplicitous. Yes, all those apparently-casual gamers are going to be enormously happy if a fancy new system won't let them play their fancy new game."

As a PC gamer myself, I'm with you even if I would not buy this game because I'm sick of FPS. I'm with you for the boycott because if the game sells you could see more games to be dedicated servers-less.I don't know ifit's IW or Activision that made this decision. Blizzard could follow this trend. Starcraft 2 is coming and without dedicated servers the gamewill be a joke. I want to play on Starcraft 2 but I won't buy it if Blizzard follows his brother Activision.
