King's Bounty : The Legend is a successor/remake of the old King's Bounty game

King's Bounty The Legend can be described as an rpg with turn based strategic battles.

Official Site

Official forums

Where to Get

The game is out in US stores and can be bought from there. Europeon release is somewhere in October

Digital Downloads :

Best Service is GamersGate pretty convinient, and charges on $40 for Europe and other place compared to atari download site which charges 40 Euro

King's Bounty : the Legend @ GamersGate

Features

Few points about the game:-

(1) Like the Heroes of Might and Magic games it has two modes - combat and adventure mode

(2) Adventure mode is realtime and is mostly rpg

(3) In Adventure mode you roam around the land, doing quests, earning money and hiring creatures.

(4) Unlike the Heroes game you don't have any castles you buy the creatures through the money earned by quests

(5) The battles is like the heroes games with few differences like being hex based, creatures limit based on you leadership abilites etc

(6) The battles a pretty strategic and you have lots of cool powers

(7) Basic game will most likely take 25 hrs to complete but if you explore it fully it may take double of that or more

well it's not really a series. it's somethign like this. The original king's Bounty was the inspirtaion for the Heroes series which is one of the most popular tbs series and this one is a remake/successor of the original with few concepts borrowed from the heroes series. If you like TBS games, you must try this one out, but rememeber, the TBS aspect is mostly while doing the battles

LOL, its not that good yet he scores it 8.5, last time I checked an 8.5 is a good/great rating.

I like it very much so far. The graphics are AMAZING! But I am still in the trials so I still have alot to learn about the game.

One thing that was somewhat weird, is that you can't be a female character. Hmm, wonder if that was such a good idea. :?

The game is awesome but it does have a huge problem, Starforce, which even tho I despise and Worms Mayhem caused me a lot of problems, I will still get the game because it's just too good :). One thing that I find weird, the damage system. I'm used to HoMM where you have let's say 40 archers and you deal damage in units, not HP, sure the effects look cool, but when I see 16 units and I deal almost 600 damage I fell kinda strange and cheated :)because they don't die, but it's a very good game.

US / Europe versions will not contain starforce. They will contain securerom without any installation limit

not sure what is your second problem, but you can aslo see the amount of enemy units killed by your own unitinstead of teh damage done, just by replacing in :

It looks good, but as a TBS I prefer Heroes V over it, but as an Adventure TBS hybrid it is very good, but still, not a replacement for Heroes in the TBS department imo and Heroes V looks very good too, especially Tribes of the East which has a little more details and the grass looks better, and it has a typical Heroes design, King's Bounty looks way different than the style of the Heroes series.

s a startegy game i would say the Homm V is definitely the better game, King's Bounty : The Legend while it requires startgey to win the strategic options are limited.

also, I don't agree that HoMM V looks more heroes than KB. Just look at angelsamd gargogyles ( I know I am taking the worst example). For me KB is more heroes likeas it has the charm and fantasy looks of HoMM 2 & 3, while HoMM 5 artsyle felt souless most of the time

Here we are different :P I absolutely love the style and the fantasy feel of Heroes V, I can never get bored of it because of it's art style and atmosphere and the soundtrack is absolutely gorgeous.

Anyway I love King's Bounty' art style too and I'm sure I'll have lots of fun with it :) It's about time I had a replacement for Etherlords (kind of).

Yeah but since they are working on Heroes now, I doubt Nival will make a new Etherlords :(. If I'd have to choose between Etherlords 3 and Heros 6, even tho it is a hard decision, i would choose Heroes 6, and I hope they will make it because even tho the community wants it, and there are lots of advices on how to make it better, but maybe Ubisoft and Nival have other plans :( because there isn't a single rumor about it.

Yeah I remember it :( I couldn't even finish the game because there was a bug in a crypt and I couldn't get an item after defeating some zombies and without it I couldn't go on. I recently played it again with all the patches and I finally finished it, but yeah, Heroes V was full of bugs, just like another good game, Sacred.

I played the demo and my hype meter fell to 0.

I just felt the combat had absolutely no strategy behind it, and while the overworld part wasn't bad (liked the art design), there was a clunkiness that I just can't put my finger on.

Review from gamespy : 4.5/5 http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/battle-lord/912879p1.html

Despite a couple of missteps (most notably the poor translation and storyline) none of the game's annoyances should keep any serious strategy gamer from seeking out King's Bounty: The Legend. The game's RPG trappings are just the sugarcoating for an incredibly deep and enjoyable strategic experience.Gamespy

Hexagons + Rage>>>>>>squares.

Personally, I enjoy it more than Heroes V.

Oh and about the Gamespy review... they complain about the writing. I found it often hilarious in the demo:| I guess Eastern Europeans and Americans have a different sense of humour, 'cause I also think Stalker is hilarious:|

I've played the full version for a few hours.

It's teh awesome until now, BUT the balance is way off. I already encountered some huge armies in the first area, and I'm just at level 3.

Fortunately, the saving system is great: unlimited manual saves, autosave and THREE quicksaves.

yeah , I have just started the game at hard, and its really is requiring lot of thinking to win battles and sometimes reloads also, without the rage boxes. Really enjoying the battles

also another review added, by didgital chumps

http://digitalchumps.com/game-reviews/39-pc/1416.html 8.8

King's Bounty is a fully fledged RPG experience with highly executed strategy elements to boot. It is very similar to the Heroes of Might & Magic series (because both series were created by the same developer and mastermind) but it separates itself by providing real time movement and deeper character building. Visuals and Sound are top notch and well surpass the problems with story development and translation issues. Overall, the game is a great addition to the world of PC strategy gaming and succeeds in being a great remake of an 18 year old game.

another review : http://www.gamingshogun.com/Article/2374/Kings_Bounty__The_Legend_Review.html : No score here , but author was full of praise

The Good: Great hand-drawn artwork, orchestral score, verbose story, and retro RPG feel.
The Bad: Auto-save acts strangely and there is not enough time in the day to play.

Summary: King's Bounty: The Legend offers up an incredibly engrossing gameplay experience that walks the line of 'retro' and 'modern' quite nicely. Don't miss out on trying this one.

All of these elements combine wonderfully in King's Bounty: The Legend, which succeeds in bringing the fun of CIassic turn-based strategy games into the 21st century, improving on them with modern features when possible. It delivers approximately 40 hours of gameplay and you will probably play through the entire game as each of the character types, not to mention all of the different army makeups you could possible have. This kind of replayability makes King's Bounty: The Legend one of the easiest game purchases you will ever make.

Also, improved the opening post :D

I did the test - Treasure Hunter.

Let the dude pick for me - Treasure Hunter.

Haha, thought that was funny.

So is the game available at B&M retail outlets? which ones? Or is it online purchase?

looks great and welcome the turn base combat. however, I wouldn't want to zoom in during battles, the view is stretched and all characters look funny, in a bad way. the top down view is wonderful.

the battle screenshot is just something to show teh creature style its not how creatures really look. the view in batlle is something like top side ( i will replace it with something proper lateron, thanks for pointing it out)

Actual screen is something like

Well, I have played the first KB since 1997 (though it was released in 1990) and I got to say HoMM3 is the best game ever made (I have a HOMM Guild in Xfire for those who got addicted to any HOMM here).

As for KB: The Legends, I've been waiting for this game for a while but after reading more and more about it and thought it would be like HOMM5 (that I badly hated) though I'll get it soon but I don't expect it to be better than HOMM3 of course. Anyways, I hope I'm wrong and it won't failed me like HOMM5 did.
