I guess EA (Electronic Anuses) made Amazon bump their pre-order price from $49 to $59.

I don't pay console prices for PC games so until they drop the price back to $49 they will be missing out on two pre-orders from me.

I most likely will pre-order once I hear more info about it. I can easily see myself playing for hundreds of hours easily if it is good :)

Do you know nothing about principle?

You're just encouraging publishers to charge $60 for every PC game when there is no reason for the game to be that price (unlike on consoles).

I agree with you completely. Yes, it's just $10, but if they bumped it up just $10 next year, would you fold over and take it then? What about the year after? I'm not against them increasing prices if they have to in order to make a profit, but pc games should not be the same price as console games as a principle. If they lose $10 off of every sale on the console due to licenses, the systems without licensing should match that price.

I think you need to accept the fact that PC games are starting to become 60$. If you want to miss out on games like StarCraft 2, Dead Space 2, Dragon Age 2, Assassins creed 2 etc. be my guest. I doubt the majority will agree with you thoe.

Yet developing on PC is much cheaper than consoles.

But hes right. Its jumped to 60 everywhere. Looks like I'm grabbing it when it goes on sale like I did for Bad Company 2. 20 bucks from EA Store and it was only out for a month or two. :D

By that logic console games should be $70.

I have missed out on all of those, instead choosing to support games like The Witcher 2, Homefront, Arma 2, and Darksiders. I even plan on skipping Deus Ex until the price drops which is my second most anticipated game this year.

Maybe you don't care about paying more money, and that's perfectly fine. I mostly wish the people who did care would do something other than say "well, what are you going to do?" and then buy the games anyways, like in the picture of the steam MW2 protesters all playing MW2. C'est la vie

If it's justified, I don't mind. But at the present crap like COD Black Ops isn't even near being worth $60. I don't really see why this would profit them, as Steam sales usually triple or quadruple a game's usual profit.

Battlefield 3 better be GOTY easily to be worth 60 bucks, just like Starcraft 2. No game came close to the greatness of SC2 last year. All review sites that didn't reward it GOTY are PC haturz. :P Dead Space 2, Assassins Creed 2/brotherhood, DA2...those games will be rentals since they're console games and maybe bought when Steam throws them on sale.

That is exactly what I was going to say. It really irks me when people use the "rising development cost" excuse. Sure the development costs have risen, but the market is much larger. Games sell millions upon millions of copies now. Before, a great game was lucky to sell in the hundreds of thousands.

I think 60 bucks will vary among the publisher nowadays.

Doesn't matter to me, I tend to get games under 60 bucks anyways.=p

Yep. I can wait I guess :P

For those saying "it's only $10" take into consideration that a $10 increase over $50 is a 20% increase. This isn't to cover "rising development costs" but simply to exploit us for extra profit. They figure that since console gamers shell out $60 we might as well too (most people won't notice right... hur hur). Not to mention that we are going to see more and more **** DLC coming to PC thanks to our console friends. In the past map packs were free & instead of mostly rubbish DLC we got more significant expansions.

I can't believe that people are so unprincipled...

I count myself lucky to only deal with a 20% increase over the last 20 years. Sucks that it happens in one jump, but hey. :) Books have jumped maybe 30%, movies have jumped almost 100%, blah blah. Maybe music has dropped?

Not to be outdone, developers on the Australian Steam store have suddenly started charging $10 more too - so most upcoming EA games (besides Dragon Age 2) are now $70 instead of $50 or $60.

Sure, we could just accept these greedy tactics, but it's easier to just not buy the games at launch. They'll be on sale soon enough as it is.

yea the games are becoming 60 bucks on pc now.. well at the least the better ones are because they know pc gamers will buy it regardless, imo its pretty lame because they dont have to pay any console licensing fee or anything whatsoever so they are just charging 10 extra dollars for the hell of it

If its $60 in the US this means in NZ its roughly $120 instead of $100...

Console games cost roughly 120-130 now.

Sure theres currency conversions, and I could believe you when 1NZD bought .50USD but currently 1NZD buys around .75USD.

We are getting robbed....

Thats why I buy things on Steam when theres a sale and the US dollar is weak :P

I find these complaints kind of amusing, considering that a new PC game often did cost $60 or more 15-20 years ago, sometimes even $80-$100 for CDROM versions.

I don't pay console prices for PC games so until they drop the price back to $49 they will be missing out on two pre-orders from me.

You're just encouraging publishers to charge $60 for every PC game when there is no reason for the game to be that price (unlike on consoles).

Get used to it, game development costs money.

They...did? really did you miss that 5 years ago? pc is just slow to catch up cause pc gamers are cheap.

I guess EA (Electronic Anuses) made Amazon bump their pre-order price from $49 to $59.

I don't pay console prices for PC games so until they drop the price back to $49 they will be missing out on two pre-orders from me.

Really dude, it's $10....

Do you know nothing about principle?

You're just encouraging publishers to charge $60 for every PC game when there is no reason for the game to be that price (unlike on consoles).

Your supposed principles that you follow don't mean a thing if there's no movemen with you. It was stated whenever the games went from 49.99 to 59.99 that PC gamers wouldn't pay that.......lies. Looks at MW2. Game was garbage, and a large majority people still payed that. BF3, if done well could very well be worth the extra 10 bucks. From the way that DICE and EA games have been lately....if you pick it up in the bargain bin, you will likely not have the edition with all the extra map and weapon unlocks. You will have to pay extra for them at a later date. I would keep my preorder, so I don't have to pay for the unlocks at a later date.

Indeed I do, but the simple fact I was trying to get across was the fact that if things were to change you have to have a movement of people to do this. I just don't see this happening.

Developers charge exactly what gamers let them charge. . If everyone refused to pay higher prices, and waited for a price drop - they couldn't get away with it.

In 2010, from Steam, for a total of $74.69 -

Divinity II - Dragon Knight Saga

King's Bounty: Legend

King's Bounty: Armored Princess

King's Bounty: Crossworlds

Mass Effect 2

Disciples III

Mount and Blade

Mount and Blade Warband

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl

Broken Sword: Twin Pack

Gothic II

Gothic 3

There's no way I'm paying $60 for ONE game - it's never gonna happen.

It doesn't matter to me, I'll definitely be buying it.

I'd rather wipe my ass with $59 than buy Crysis 2 with it, that game is gonna be FarCry 2 all over again.

Crytek does not know how to make a good sequel.

You really have no clue do you...

Far Cry 1 was made by Crytek. It was awesome.

Far Cry 2 was made by Ubisoft Montreal. It sucked balls.

Crysis 1 again by Crytek and it kicked ass.

Crysis 2 by Crytek. Kick-ass part 2.

I always thought it was really odd how much hate Far Cry 2 got on places like this, given how much love it got from the more intellectual game reviewers and a *lot* of in-industry people. Clint Hocking!
