sad, it's one of these rare time where I think we should unite against this.
Personally, I will take my 60$ and invest it completly into pc-only games to support the market. I already bought Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the ripper and still life 2 with 40$ of that 60$. Sherlock last me 15 hours and I am 5 hours into still life 2. Now that some great value and I will probably buy Killing floor or torchlight with the remaining 20$. I suggest everyone who wanted to buy cod6 to do that. It's not like there is a shortage of good pc games at the moment and you might find some jewels with your 60$
That was quite funny to read, the IW guys are such a bunch of douchebags. PC has custom stuff like mouse control  Thank God I only care about the campaign.
Go Treyarch! Make another real PC COD!
Baranga
rofl they actually said that!?! Its not custom...its a requirement. And dont pretend you dont know IW, youve made PC games before!
Jesus, but 9x9? Thats just stupid.

I don't know IW is a pretty advanced developer... i mean you don't see every other developer touting custom mouse support now do you... This just feels like EA. You know... cut out content so they can add it later and say "Oh look at all the content you get now". Well at least IW is technically correct with the mouse support. It is more advanced that say... Doom or Wolfenstein 3D...I also don't see how limiting the game to 9v9 makes it more appealing... You could do it before (I play 6v6 games of WAW all the time).
PC has no common provider of matchmaking like on xbox360, so to have match making on the PC we had to create IW.Net, kind of similar to the match making networks created for RTS games on PC. This was not a trivial undertaking, although it's understandable that these days consumers may take match match making for granted
we dont take it for granted. We have experienced it, it sucks.
In MP, a new game mode we have is Demolition. I'd have to say its one of my personal favorites as one team's objective is to detonate two targets. It gets really heavy when one target is detonated and all the focus is shifted to one target, leading to all kinds of crazy moments you'd see in only in MW2
Thats funny, because thats been my favorite game mode in Day of Defeat: Source for years! HACKS!

PC Question... What will the max amount of players per map be for PC multiplayer on IW.net
01:32 Vince-IW
9v9
9x9? In these days of 32-player minimums, youre giving us 18? Uuuuggggh....
01:53 maniac1969
How are PC gaming clans going to uphold their clan rules in the IW-net system? Are you going to give admin rights to gaming rooms so that admins can Kick or Ban players who refuse to follow clan rules? For example, {MRoA} servers prohibit racial comments from guest and/or clan members...
01:53 Vince-IW
No idea yet. In response to the PC clan question: Private matches are a way for players to easily play with their friends and apply whatever House Rules they want. You can not kick players from Ranked matches. If language is a problem you can easily mute players.
Hooray, no support for simple things such as banning. Good work, IW
02:25 DudezTY
Since we can not kick people in ranked matches, how will we stop hackers who get past VAC?
02:25 Mackey-IW
Our goal is to ban hackers from the game.
Way to dodge the question...
02:54 Moriarte
Ignoring IW.net, is the PC version a direct port of the console version?
02:55 Mackey-IW
No, PC has custom stuff like mouse control, text chat in game, and graphics settings.
Wow...just, wow.
It only sucks for PC (and oh does it suck for PCs..... i'm looking at you FarCry2...), but it does work for consoles because consoles are supposed to be pick up and play extremely quickly without any thought or difficulty (i'm guessing difficulty would be not connecting to a match...). Also they work because so many companies suck hardcore and making good server lists (I'm looking at you Epic and Gears of War 1... really 2 minutes to be able to see 5 severs... you're great at being terrible), but some companies have done great jobs at them (Lost Planets auto refresh was nice and Killzone 2 works perfectly fine... stil not as good as a PC).PC has no common provider of matchmaking like on xbox360, so to have match making on the PC we had to create IW.Net, kind of similar to the match making networks created for RTS games on PC. So while server lists work perfect for PCs (and we know this because how long have we been using them?) they don't always work as well for consoles (not saying they can't just that they usually don't). Plus matchmaking goes along with consoles more which is supposd to be relaxing. Just pressing "A" and the game finding a match for me while i am half way asleep on a couch goes right along with what consoles do best... sifting through a sever list on a tv screen 10 ft to 15 ft away is not. But yeah for PCs matchmaking just doesn't work (i guess it could, but server lists work so well on them and developers are used to it).
I do bet that IW had to cut out all the dedicated servers because they had to work on IW.net which was unnecessary at best. "Well since we spent 6 months working on Crap.net we now have no time to put in the dedicated server fuctionality.... oh well PC gamers don't want them anyway... we know this because we are not douchebags....."

exactly! and thats the whole issue...they said IW.net was made specifically for PC to make the gameplay better.
They have yet to tell us how, outside of "its more fair" or "its better".
but the fact remains, we did not want it, and we did not ask for it. IW.net has its own agenda here.
Furthermore, I have never heard of anyone complain about the issues IW claims plague the CoD 4 community.

Believe what you want, but the BestBuy chat with IW took place last night, and the transcript is posted on the BestBuy Forums.

Matchmaking does benefit for users to sync with similar skill for a comfortable environment. It'll be great to have both dedicated and matchmaking to support hardcore and the casual though, but IWnet is still early, so there are no certains. If users are really frustrated then there are current tools available to modified original MW for playthrough.
I can't believe I ended up using sarcasm on IW, I used to respect them :( still they're way better than Treyarch any day of the week but if this goes on...by the time they reach the next CoD I'll avoid any of their games.DanielDust
Same here, i am still buying the game for the compaign but i bet it will be kinda like cod WaW. :(
I'm convinced IW has lost their damn mind.Bane_v2Same here, but wait... if you come to think about it also far cry 2 and opf2 had those issues, with no leaning and dedicated servers. Their logic is simple: "It makes money doesn't it? If it does then i dont see any reason for improvement, so we just throw the polish and pc care out of the window and add a 60 bucks price tag and wait for money to come to hour hands." They became like all the other developers. They dont carea about the pc or polish, they care about money, even if the game sold trillions on pc then still they wouldnt care because game developers have the habit to improve stuff they left wrong in their previous game and forget to maintain all those things that they actually done right.
[QUOTE="coolmonkeykid"]i hope to god no one buys thistony2077catoo late for that I'm afraid and i don't see anything wrong with what there doing
I can see the problem, but I'm not worried because in the short term the game will flop in PC and it will take severe consequences in the IW wallets. I can't see how MW 2 could repeat the 2.5 -3 million sales of COD 4, or maintain the interest of the community once most of the players interested in the campaign speed run the 8-hour-lasting linear story mode, because the mp looks abysmal.
In fact I doubt that things can be worse to IW share in the fps online market, with BC 2 coming in two months and BF2, Brink, Doom 4, Crysis 2 and Battlefield 3 already in development. Before than the COD 4 success the most played fps were CS and BF2; there's too many incoming competence in the next months to ignore that COD 4 will probably be aoutranked by any of those titles.
And this will be fine, because the IWNET decisions are hurting the PC market, so is legit to expect a letdown in the fans response.
[QUOTE="Too_tight_shoes"]
With all these things cut out and "downgraded" it makes you wonder what went on through their minds when they decided to increase the price from £29.99 to £34.99?!
they didn't cut out anything. MW2 (and maybe future CoD games) is a true multiplaform game: all platforms play the same and thus cost the same. so those "PC only" features are not supposed to be within the game package to begin with.
next stop, army of DLCs.
Its understandable and im still getting the game for PC. Thanks for the support to your fellow PC players...[...] They became like all the other developers. They dont carea about the pc or polish, they care about money, even if the game sold trillions on pc then still they wouldnt care because game developers have the habit to improve stuff they left wrong in their previous game and forget to maintain all those things that they actually done right.dakan45I think they do care about the PC and they think they're making improvements to their product that are in the best interests of their customers. The casual gamer will probably like the changes and the new system will work well for them. The clans and competitive groups that used to rent and maintain their own servers will not. I think they've grossly miscalculated what this group's best interests are and it's going to cost them business.
Just to seal the coffin. The game will not support true widescreen according to this:

Lmao yeah this comment cracked me up, along with the one where, when asked how they would deal with hackers who got passed VAC "our goal is to ban hackers". Yes well done IW, that really makes the hackers run for the hills.

Oh my God, IW are trying to take us back to the stone age.
I support piracy of this game. I've been hearing stuff and the torrenting community is getting very raucous, trying to get a leaked version and pirate 1 million copies. I can only applaud them and encourage them. By this point, I really don't want Infinity Ward making games for PC anymore. EA is my new salvation. k0r3aN_pR1d3
Personally, I think that is the wrong course of action to take. It will only add fuel to the fire, and make both this and other developers all the more determined to include even more restrictive measures in their next games. Two wrongs won't make things right. By increasing the number of torrents, you are playing directly into their hands to use those figures to justify their next move.
If you want to send a message to the devs, simply don't buy the game, and don't pirate it. That way they can't blame piracy for lost sales (as they usually do).

Regardless if we buy or not, they will always blame piracy for low sales. Look at their ridiculous figures for the number of people who pirated Call of Duty 4 and go search online to get estimates. At most, I think only 280,000-340,000 have pirated Call of Duty 4, not the millions that IW claims and preaches. And alot of developers these days are releasing games with lower protection than usual. I think they have come to the consensus that no matter how much you lock up a game, somebody in Russia is gonna crack it in less than a hour.[QUOTE="RobertBowen"][QUOTE="k0r3aN_pR1d3"]I support piracy of this game.
