You know, I am sad to see this, but here is the scoop. Its we PC gamers who are pre ordering MW 2, and did not give enough support to PC exclusives like Crysis, saying that its just a better looking Far Cry (!). So lets not blame the developers entirely for this. chandu83Well I know a lot of people who preordered are canceling it, if forum posts are anything to go by. I hadn't preordered it, but if I had, that preorder would be canceled.

yeah, MW2 has a chance to get the first 10 from GS PC game review.
the main reason will be something along these lines: "...IW creates the geniune multiplatform-console gaming experience; it sets the milestone for 'the way PC game is supposed to be played'..."
I wont mind if that happens due to the way they throw 9.5s nowadays...yeah, MW2 has a chance to get the first 10 from GS PC game review.

I think you guys are being too hard on the game without having tried it yet.
Yes I do agree with you guys, this seems like a downgrade. Yes it does seem like they've made a game for the consoles because they only care about profit.
But who the hell does games just to please PC gamers, or any other gamer for that matter? and why not be excited about the single player mode?
I personally can't wait to try it. I'm sure all of you will do the same, one way or another.

For everybody not buying it, there will probably be 10 more who will.
Yeah... but the 9v9 just kills it for me. I don't care how good the game might be, to drastically cut the amount of max players like that just to make it playable on a non-dedicated network is a deal breaker.I think you guys are being too hard on the game without having tried it yet.

speak for yourself. I have the minimum respect for my own hard earned money as not to TRY a 4-5 hours SP compaign for 60 bucks.
Lol, are you serious? It is a downgrade in every aspect of the game, there is no question about it. Who makes games to please PC gamers? Hmm...maybe the people making the games? Ever thought about that? Well at least that's how it used to be. You've got to be an idiot to pay $60 for a console port. If you want to play the single player just download it off of a torrent, that's what I'm doing, and loads of others too.I think you guys are being too hard on the game without having tried it yet.

It makes no sense; IW is slapping PC gamers in the face with their disrespect. The PC made IW what they are, and now they are turning their backs on us. Hes right, Dont Torrent it, Just dont buy it, and play it at a friends house. If to many People Torrent it, Infinity Ward wont make a Modern WArfare 3 for the PC. DONT TORRENT IT.
Latest info from chat with IW employees and Best Buy:
Max players in PC MP is 9v9.
Lean has also been removed.
In house testing of IW.net gets pings/latency of 100ms - expect this to be much worse in the real world.
No way to kick players in ranked games.
All clan/group organisation and play is to be done through your friends list.
I've only skimmed through the transcript but looks like there are many more "fantastic" upgrades! Anyone who buys the pc version now is deranged. The attitude of the IW guys is really arrogant as well. When faced with any question where they have to admit that features have been removed, or the game experience won't be as good, or in response to the petition, their answers are very snide and snotty.
Read the full transcript: http://jalba.se/headz/files/text/bestbuymw2log.phpIt's far worse than anyone expected.

There comes a point where one must just wash one's hands, abandon hope, and the franchise. I doubt that IW will learn anything from this and it has been reported (not verfied) that even with the last game (COD4) they wanted to not make a PC version. If there's no MW3 on PC it will be no loss, just like not having Gears of War 2 or Halo 3. If they just want to make crappy games why would I want to see them ported to PC?[QUOTE="jettpack"]

Speaking about cheatfest - the Xbox360 pirates who are playing Modern Warfare 2 have already found map glitches to exploit. Just do a search on YouTube for Modern Warfare 2 glitches. You can see the Xbox cheaters at work, and the game isn't even officially released yet.
Just as I expected, IW have failed yet again to close all the holes in their maps, assuming that people can't reach certain places. They have learned nothing from all their past mistakes.
So expect lots of glitchers on X360. As for PC...dear lord, CoDjumpers will have a field-day with this game.

Come on, what game today doesn't suffer from gltiches bud?I'm specifically referring to glitches that allow a player to get outside of the map boundaries in multiplayer maps, so they can obtain an advantage over other players.
This is a problem that has plagued the entire CoD series of games (from the first to the latest). Yes, there are other games (with MP) that have suffered from this problem as well, but glitchers do not seem to be as prevalent. Maybe it's due to the popularity of the CoD series, I don't know, but I haven't noticed many other games with websites dedicated to finding map glitches.
I've made a map for CoD:UO, so I am aware of the problems faced by their map designers. It took me a month to design and make the map, then a couple more months just to test it thoroughly and try to make it as secure as possible prior to release (with the help of clan mates at the time). No one is infallible, and I'm sure dedicated glitchers would be able to find areas they are not supposed to reach on my own map. But then, I'm not a professional map designer.
Considering the issue of MP map glitches has plagued the CoD series, it surprises me that they have been unable to devise a reliable method for dealing with the problem.

There are communities that literally dedicates to working in groups to break down multiplayer games in private matches, the COD series are not the only MP games that has suffer from these issues. You essentially answer your question "Maybe it's due to the popularity of the CoD series", granted there's a lot of traffic to attract these audiences. I'm positive you are aware that designing levels are incredibly difficult so designers work in tangents of minimizing the common problems.I have yet to come across any level that was built perfectly to avoid any issues unless they were basic geometric shapes, lol...

lol I remember playing Gears Of War on 360 on something like Gridlock where every player would be outside the map trying to snipe each other!
they just made a game I was looking forward to playing with my gaming squad a complete fail. I guess I will just be playing L4D2 till Bioshock 2 comes out.

The map boundary issue could be minimised by the use of invisible Clip brushes (like an invisible wall) around the playable area of the map and/or hurt/death trigger brushes so that players who do manage to find a way through die within seconds or instantly. Another way is via scripting, and modders managed to address some of the boundary glitches in CoD 2 maps by writing scripts to insta-kill anyone trying to utilise a particular glitch.
Sharking can be tackled in a similar way.
Glitches within the map boundary pose slightly different problems because you don't want to negatively affect ordinary players, but again the use of clip brushes can deter jumpers from reaching some areas players were not intended to reach. For example, on the Matmata map of CoD 2, glitchers managed to get inside the domes on the buildings, and a simple solid clip brush would have resolved the problem.
Of course, it does depend on the complexity of the map, and the time allocated for testing. But one thing I kept in my own mind while testing my map was 'never assume they can't', ie, never assume a glitcher can't reach a location that you might think is secure.
Anyway, I digress from the main topic, and the point I tried to make still stands: Xbox 360 players will be able to cheat in Modern Warfare 2 by exploiting map glitches (along with mouse/keyboard emulators, lag switching, etc.), so that platform will NOT be free of cheaters.
I don't mind the 9v9 limit so much, it's pretty hard to find a server that isn't overloaded with players in COD4 these days. It's like a giant cluster**** and I die from random spam grenades every five seconds. Ruins the game IMO. I just refuse to buy a game for PC that doesn't have mod support and dedicated servers for the ping advantage.

I dont see why everyone is going "whatever, no-one uses lean anyways"
Uhh, hello? Why did they put lean in FPS? IT'S USEFUL. PEOPLE USE LEAN. Clearly it was a good idea, and totally balanced at one point. it's like going back to floppy disks, "we dont need CD's or DVD's, they're not as reliable, they can get scratched"
IW is coming up with BS reasons as to why they can slowly Turn PC's into another console, because if they manage that....well, lets just say i hope you like bad ports.
