[QUOTE="dakan45"]Hmm, 1.halo ( too simplistic and weak graphics and gameplay, yet it gets high ratings and not get criticized by reviewers for its weak parts that other fps do get bad criticisms ) 3.gta iv (Gta sa had better: story, characters, more guns, more vehicles, more and bigger maps, more things to do and more unique missions with less repettion, if anything its a step back yet it gets a Cranler
Max Payne was the highest rated shooter on pc the year Halo was released. As much as I like Max Payne, I have to say Halo wipes the floor with it. Combat Evolved is a fitting name to add onto Halowhen you consider the best pc shooters of 2001 were Red Faction, Serious Sam and RTCW.
I personally like the story and characters better in GTA 4. GTA 4 is a huge evolution over GTA SA in many ways. Physics, ai and combat are hugely improved. Bigger maps automatically makesa gamebetter? So I guess Just Cause 2 is the best open world game then?
compare Operation Flashpoint, Aliens vs. Predator 2, Clive Barker's Undying, etc to Halo. And actually, Max Payne is still kick ass on pc. In 2001 I was also still playing ut and quake 3.PC gaming is so different than console gaming, pc gaming is like having a bunch of classic albums to play over and over, while console gaming is more like the top 40 pop hits. Sure sometimes a song I like will enter the top 40, but the top 40 cant compare to true classic albums that never get old.
edit: come to think of it I had more fun with Red Faction than Halo. Red Faction often gets overlooked, but it was all kinds of awesome that they could never really properly follow up on.
