MGS4 and maybe Portal.

Thought the game was slightly underrated by everyone as a whole. I think you may be confusing hype and ratings.Spore. PERIOD.

Anyway, seeing as no one answered my question, I'll have to say that the most overrated games by this website are Oblivion, Fallout 3, Halo: Combat Evolved, Call of Duty 2, Modern Warfare 1 and 2, the entire Command and Conquer series, the Age of Empires series, Batman: Arkham Asylum and least of all the Half Life 2 series. All games that were fairly polished, but entirely uninteresting in every other aspect.

All games that are mediocre at best.

I disagree with you on all of those.....no surprise there ;)
Indeed.Second indeed. He's just a critic for the sake of being a critic... No, he doesn't look smart or "hardcore"
I forgot how dissapointing half life 2 was for me. I remember seeing all those 90+ review scores and when i got the chance i picked it up. Man was it redundant.SteverXIII
So was I. Got 96/100 here in the biggest PC Magazine and I was like 'WOW, Half Life 1 was so incredible, I'll have to buy that'!
Played through it twice (second walkthrough was already quite boring): 'Oh well, this is the new holy grail of fps?! Or as even some say: Best PC game of all time?!?! '
P.S. @ all the trolls: This is a forum, why shouldn't people be able to tell what's "overrated" in their opinion?
Half Life games
Call of Duty series
WoW
Most Bioware games (I did like DA:O and the original Baldur's Gate)

Yeah, its funny how real trolls are often the ones accusing others of doing so.
The games i found overhyped and over-rated, were gta series
I said it before, but thats just my opinion..
As other posters in here have said... It all comes back to preference...
Many people follow a game because many people follow that game... (that has been a proven fact... alot of people judge what game they should get purely on its community)
But it is preference, just because you don't like a certain game, doesn't mean it is a bad game...
But one thing i think most of us "who think" can agree on is: most games now-a-days, and from the last 5-8 years, have been over-hyped... HYPE IS one of the main things that lead to disappointment.
can we just have them announced, a couple of videos here and there... All this "Finally the game(s) you have been waiting for, has just been announced. and we will continue to manipulate your perception of this game, until it actually launches... you buy it, and as usual doesn't live up to the hype we just paid millions to force feed to you"
Indeed.[QUOTE="kdawg88"][QUOTE="AFBrat77"]

Oh naturally. How dare I have an opinion which differs from yours? And way to launch right into personal attacks. "OMG he doesn't like a game that I like! I must defend it unto death! Quick, to the slandermobile!"
The games I listed are all, in my opinion, vastly overrated, simplistic, and boring. If you get enjoyment out of them, great. That's not going to change my opinion.
This. +9 ratings, numerous mods, Gordan won last year, and the game is really a mediocre FPS.GazaAli
There you go 8) , i never called hl2 mediocre, just average. I guess i can pass my "hl2 hater" title to my friend here.
[QUOTE="MrLions"]How is Crysis overrated O_o It was purdy and it was kick ass to grab a Korean and hurl him through the jungle whats not fun about that? :o Artosagraphics don't make a good game, crisis in the gameplay department was quite average.
Same here, i thought the gameplay was pretty much lackster, like they focus on 90% on graphics and for "whatever" reason you name it.

I thought it was decent, but that's it, besides, the enemies were bullet sponges, 3 shotgun headshots to take a normal enemy? WHAT!?

and i guess i was the one who sucked at crysis  Anyway its not 3 legit headshots but for some reason it feels like that, it feels like you have to hit the bad guys many times. So yeah it felt like that too, shooting felt awful. Glad we agree.and i guess i was the one who sucked at crysis  Anyway its not 3 legit headshots but for some reason it feels like that, it feels like you have to hit the bad guys many times. I thought I was the only one who felt that way about Crysis, I just want this things from Crysis 2:
-Better Performance
-Better Story
-Improved Art Style
-Better Dialogue (Dropping F bombs every 2 seconds doesn't make you cool)
-Improved shooting and hit detection
Now we just have to wait to see if that's even going to happen.

3 shotgun headshots are enough to take down a nano-suited korean.
A single shotgun shot to the belly is more than enough to kill a "normal enemy" or one of those creepy floating armor-ctopuses.

They hired a good writer for the story, they say its gonna have lower requirements from the first and since Ceval said there wont be any diffirences from the pc and the console versons apart from the graphics, i guess the shooting will also be more solid. Or its not gonna work well with the console version. I dont know about art stye but i prefer NY from the jungles in the first game.[QUOTE="biggest_loser"]San Andreas. mo0ksiThis. I'm a huge fan of the GTA franchise, but San Andreas was just *loaded* with so many flaws, both big and small, that I don't know how anyone can even consider it as the best in the series. I love it when someone talks about flaws and doesn't even bother to list them. The thing is, San Andreas had the same kind of flaws as the games before it.

Well to be honest, i did not like that the combat had change alot from vice city and the controls were less "pc like" than vice city, more like a port, i also did not like the harder vehicle handlings and the fact that the cops cared only to shoot you and not the other gansters, i often saw gangsters and cops shooting me together side by side. Also i did not like the insane ai accuracy and response rate, but i had bad accuracy and i had to duck aim and then shoot. Plus weapons sounded like crap. Those are the things that they really messed up in san andeas when they were fine in gta vc. Those are not flaws included in gta vc. Well i give them props for the big maps, the better story/missions, the ability to change clothes, etc, etc

And this is just the stuff I thought of from the top of my head.

Overrated huh.. I think most games deserve the scores they get but not the attention / amount of purchases they get. Such games like halo, the sims, madden and mw2. Just pains me to see better games get only a fraction of the attention these games are enjoying.
I agreed with some of your points, but the soundtrack was one of the game's greatest strengths. It captured the compton feel of the early 90's very well. In this game you can't go wrong with Dre, Eazy E, and Icecube.Aside from CSR and Master Sounds, the game had a disappointing soundtrack.

- The story became ridiculous the minute you were out of Los Santos. It tried to be compelling and serious, but the outrageous crap you were doing didn't help in its favor. Opinion I'm sorry, but I just can't see how anyone could take it seriously.
- Stat building was very tedious Opinion When you're doing nothing put tapping the same button for minutes at a time, I don't see how it can be anything else BUT tedious.
- Horrible, horrible sound effects Sounded fine to me. Did we play the same game? The 9mm in the game literally sounded like noisemakers, and the AK sounded like someone was knocking on a door.
- CJ was a bad protaganist Opinion Seeing as how he was responsible for some of the bad stuff that happened towards the game, I don't see how he's a good PROTAGANIST. Notice I didn't say character.
- Flight school was incredibly frustrating the first timeOpinion - I thought it was easy. Fair enough.
- A lot of the missions involving the rural side were tedious and sometimes frustrating Opinion - I didn't find them frustrating.Fair enough.
- The street races were very unbalanced - They were too easy in my opinion. You basically agreed with me then.
- Poor enemy and friendly AI - Agreed, but I also found the AI in the previous games to be poor as well. But none of them got stuck into the walls as frequently as in SA.
- The last few hours of the game were very repetitive - Opinion - I loved the last missions. Notice I didn't say missions. The last mission was fun. But everything leading up to that point was very repetitive, as it was nothing but gang war after gang war.
- Some features and options were poorly implemented - Such as?Courier missions, robberies, some of the races, and some others

In this game you can't go wrong with Dre, Eazy E, and Icecube. I can see where you're coming from with that, I was just hoping for a bit more diversity with RLS. I know NWA was a big part of the gangster rap movement, but I felt that it was just overflowed with their songs. There were five songs with Dr. Dre alone.[QUOTE="mo0ksi"]
