[QUOTE="Iantheone"]Yes it can. It doesnt do it automatically, you have to manually set it to 1080p. Also look at the resolution of the benchmarks. Lets see any nvidia card do that

Iantheone

The gtx280 has no problems doing that :P

A GTX280 can only go 2560x1600 =/

EDIT: Whoo 1000 posts!

Right, in my first post i was answering 2 different things. When i am talking about 1080p im talking about the xbox and how it can support that res. The second bit is for the benchmarks for the 5970 and 5870 that were posted earlier, to which Sliisaownsystem said "anything below 60+ FPS is below my standards". The resolution of the benchmarks is 5760x2400. So FC2 at max settings with 40 FPS at that resolution is amazing. So what i meant by " Lets see any nvidia card do that" I meant that they cant. The max res they can support is 2560x1600, they cant get up to that high of a resolution.

QFT

Also it's true most if not all console games are upscaled from lower resolution to 1080.

On the Xbox 360, the games that are not rendered natively at 1080p are upscaled using a built in upscaler (meaning that all X360 games can be displayed in 1080p, but with upscaling) , while on the PS3 the developers must ensure upscaling support. On both systems, 1080p games are automatically downscaled to480i/576ito work onSDTVs, or downscaled to480p/576pto remain compatible withEDTV. The PS3 also supports 1080p display through itsPlayStation StoreVODservice[13], Blu-ray playback[14], and built-in Internet browser.[15]In Fall 2009, Microsoft'sZune Video Marketplacewas rolled into theXbox Live Marketplace, and features 1080p video content.

It was even said Halo 3 was actually published at 1156x900 resolution...

Ignorance is bliss!

1080p has been on PC for both ATI and Nvidia GPU's for a long time. Even the Geforce 4 Titanium which was from 2002 if i am not mistaken.

NVIDIA GeForce4 TI 4200

AGP 4x

128 MB

DDR SDRAM

256-bit

Max. Screen Resolution 2048 x 1536 (1080p is 1920x1200 so 2048x1536 is higher)

Not to mention the new cards such as ATI 5870 or higher which can run at5760x2400

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzGtxlaPQqY

or if you add 4 cards you can run the resolution up to 12270x5160

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6Vf8R_gOec

or maybe more if you do the math and compare it to one card.

i said 12270x5160 because i saw it running at that resolution so im certain its possible.

1080p is not 1920x1200... it's 1920x1080. 1920x1200 is a different (higher) resolution altogether.
