LOL wow that's pretty pathetic. Did they even test the game at all? Probably not, since looks like it is just another crappy console port. Well, just a bit crappier than usual.

initally i thought nvidia had mad the game excsluive to nviida hardware through the use of brown envelopes. so i was about to come in swining and then ignore the 300 series no mater how good they were (i still am with the whole cant use an ati card for graphics and nvidia card for physics driver shinanigans...i know theres a workaround but there shouldnt have to be a workaround). but it looks like this is the devs fault and not nvidias. since the dev was going under, they probably didnt get as much testing in as they should have. not nvidias fault. still, sort out that physx nonsense nvidia and then i will get your best 300 series close to launch (assuming its brilliant...sounds great so far). dont and ill nab a 5870 instead...bear it up with my 8800GTX, use the work around and be on my merry.

I post in another thread about the game and its seems just like saints row its an unusual bad port

NO AA option for PC

countless technical and tonal problems

PC version seems particularly fraught with pop-in problems

So Bad port incoming but its a mediocre game juding by reviews so not like missing something great

Yeah, because ATI is known to be reluctant to have games work on their gaming cards.

Or maybe it's that now nVidia is getting their butt kicked hard by the 5xxx ATI series and needs some "exclusives", right  ?

I have a feeling that this is both the developer and ATi's fault. I don't know why anyone would blame Nvidia for supporting their products. If there was something even slightly unethical going on in the background, ATi would have been sure to point it out to the entire world. The developer should have made sure that their game was compatible with ATi cards, although they're not required to. ATi should have double checked to make sure that the developers did so.

I don't like nvidia's underhand buisness tactics, this is exactly the reason I don't buy their cards.

It is in the best interest of the devs to test their games on both nvidia and ati cards, but not so much if they're having money pushed into their top pockets.

Lol...it's the game makers fault not Nvidia... Sure they have the slogan " The way it was meant to be played "....but that doesn't mean they are out to take over the PC market ( well they are...but they are not that stupid ) Don't blame Nvidia...they make great cards...are constantly upping drivers.... It's the game makers fault...I mean if it is already patched , just how stupid are the game makers and their Q and A // testing department? Or maybe even ATI screwed up....who knows...? Crappy game anyway...so who cares?

I am not a fan of ATi, but it shouldn't have been this way.
Monopoly is not a good concept, albeit I suppose Microsoft and the convenience it offers.
However, this is sad business, and its not Nvidia's fault, the developers just did a bad job it appears. I like the fact that Nvidia's is working closely with the developers to support their products.

One of many examples

AMD prides itself on supporting open standards and our goal is to advance PC gaming regardless whether people purchase our products.

Unfortunately, not everyone shares our philosophy. Nvidia has recently sampled some newly released The Way it is Meant to be Played titles, including Batman: Arkham Asylum, to press in hopes that they would use these titles to benchmark against the HD Radeon 5870 and 5850. There are some known issues with these proprietary TWIMTBP titles.

Batman: Arkham Asylum
In this game, Nvidia has an in-game option for AA, whereas, gamers using ATI Graphics Cards are required to force AA on in the Catalyst Control Center.

The advantage of in-game AA is that the engine can run AA selectively on scenes whereas Forced AA in CCC is required to use brute force to apply AA on every scene and object, requiring much more work.

Additionally, the in-game AA option was removed when ATI cards are detected. We were able to confirm this by changing the ids of ATI graphics cards in the Batman demo. By tricking the application, we were able to get in-game AA option where our performance was significantly enhanced. This option is not available for the retail game as there is a secure rom.

To fairly benchmark this application, please turn off all AA to assess the performance of the respective graphics cards. Also, we should point out that even at 2560×1600 with 4x AA and 8x AF we are still in the highly playable territory …

Thats just the PR firm that represents Pandemic.

It was an internal port, but after Mercs 2, is anyone really shocked?

I hate nvidia because their drivers don't work for me. I guess i'm unlucky but it's really infuriating. It's always "The computer has not been modified" in the end of every installation since 182.16 patch. I reinstalled OS (Vista and Win7) 3 times. 3 times already and it still doesn't work can you believe it? Ugh What's more bad is that i have little money to switch to 5770. I got a 8800 GTS 320. I game at 1280x1024 anyway so i really don't need the top 3 strongest cards. Actually my 8800 GTS 320 is still doing pretty well if it weren't for the bad drivers which is why i'm experiencing more crashes and framerate issues with games that really don't demand strong hardware especially at my res.

Nvidia put extra work (and worked with developers) to enable AA into a game that didn't support AA (Unreal Engine). I see no reason that ATi's tantrum should allow them to gain from another companies work.

I'm really disapointed with ATI, they don't work properly and Nvidia takes the cake. So far there's a bunch of great games that sucks with ATI cards, Batman: AA, Borderlands, NFS: Shift... at least they delivered Dirt 2 in great shape. There are some disturbing things about this Nvidia sabotage like Fear 2 and Batman, but hell thats the way business works, they shoulddo the same. They fail to aproach the developers we get screwed.

I don't see why ppl are blaming ATI. it's not like they keep secrets from the developers. they might not help them as much as Nvidia but who knows if there's any thing to keep them from that because of nvidia's TWIMTBP program. either way there's no excuse for something that is easy to test or fix.

Masculus

Batman:AA, Borderlands and NFS:Shift, 3 Nvidia TWIMTBP games.

Over the last 2 years I've found myself becoming more frustrated towards Nvidia. They continously rebrand card after card. This year they continue to show they don't deserve any business by pulling stunts such as the Batman AA Debacle. And this latest stunt doesn't surprise me at all. ATI only support a handful of companies, Valve, Blizzard being the main ones if I recall. But Nvidia happen to have a monopoly in comparison. And seeing how games with that branding are the ones who get consulted first and spend the longest time with the developers its obvious which is going to have the best performance.

I haven't bought from Nvidia since 2001. I considered it last year but the rebranding put me off to ATI again, and last month I chose a more expensive ATI card over a Nvidia card for the family PC given there recent tactics.

That's unusual, a pirated version working flawlessly while original copies are not working at all, great.

Man its always like that, pirates always get to play the game no matter what, and buyers gotta bother with problems and drm issues!!! Then the develeopers blame piracy for not releasing games on pc and not the obvious reason that they destroy the pc versions with every way possible and make it even harder to work and run properly!!

Yeah I'm probably going AMD/ATi again next time I upgrade. I never really liked Intel or Nvidia, but the price/performance ratio was just too good to pass up when I upgraded.

Bad ports are bad enough without crap like this happening, it would be disastrous for PC gaming if there was only one GPU company.
