the only thing that surprises me is the 2 gigs of ram....I was expecting games to be at 1.5 for some time....

but I guess it makes sence....Ram is "a dime a dozen" these days...and 2 gigs is very affordable.

It's not my kind of game, but I keep track of requirements; this one is a screwy example.

Look at the minimum again, video cards

Video Card: Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 128MB RAM (NVIDIA 6600 or better/ATI X1300 or better, excluding ATI X1550).

You realize, I assume, that when ATI named the X1550, they just used the basic X1300 Vanilla card, with a minor speed tweak to the core and to the RAM so it's almost an X1300 Pro, therefore it's already "better" than the X1300 is, so why exclude it? Strange!

(Added in an early Edit) I thought I'd refresh my mental picture and visited GPU Review. The X1550 is much closer to X1300 Pro numbers than I was remembering. Only a 50 MHz core speed disadvantage, and the same memory. On a thinner die, it should be more efficient than the X1300 Pro, even.

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=328&card2=497

(Newest thought, also in its own separate comment: what if the X1300 named is really supposed to be the X1300 "XT", and the 6600 named is supposed to be the "GT" model? That makes much better sense than what it ended up as!

"excluded" doesnt mean it guarenteed not to work....it means it was never tested....Chances are if it works with cards of similar archetectures....it will work with it.

Typical requirements for todays games. The recommended specs are not as high as I thought previously, so my 8800GTS should play this quite nicely.

To be fair, I'm surprised that even the Geforce 6600 is able to run this game. 6600GT I can understand, but the 6600 standard was way beneath the 6600GT's level.

Well, I should be able to run this game OKish, even if I havean "Entry Level" ATI 1300XT card and a 3.2Ghz processor.

As a comparison, Overlord has similar requirements for minimum but has a little more leeway on the grpahics card front (it can support XT100 series) and that runs OK on high graphics.

I do intend to crank up the RAM at some point though, as that should make it run even faster with the specs I have.

Except the CPU, my PC meets the recommended requirements (You know, i still have this outdated AGP mobo). PC which i'll build next year will exceed them - Athlon64 X2 6000+, 3GB RAM (32bit WinXP can't handle more), Radeon HD2900 XT 1 GB :)

Here's a possibility: what if the intention was to include the X1300"XT" card, which is in fact a renamed X1600 Pro? It would be "above" an X1550. And then, of course, some clerk somewhere decided to drop off the XT part .. yup, sounds right for a clerk!

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=448&card2=350

To be fair, I'm surprised that even the Geforce 6600 is able to run this game. 6600GT I can understand, but the 6600 standard was way beneath the 6600GT's level.

There's another reason to wonder whether some fool clerk got it all screwed up. The 6600 Vanilla isn't much of a card, but it's better than the X1300 / X1550, so we would have both the XT being left off, and the GT as well, and the clerk blissfully unaware how much difference is involved.

"Recommended" never means any such thing -- it means you actually will see "acceptable" visuals, and will experience "playable" frame rates. The 8600 GTS isn't monstrously faster than its less powerful siblings at all.

It's UE3.0, and I think we're seeing a nasty trend of UE3-engined games requiring SM3 to run at all.

Wow, those are pretty demanding for the recommended settings. I was hoping my computer would run high settings with no problem. Looks like i am going to need to upgrade my Processor, and maybe my card.

I have 2gigs of ram, a 7900 GT nvidia card, Windows XP Professional x64, AMD 939 pin 64bit processors 2.0ghz. I think I will be fine if I just up my processor.

Do you guys think that will be fine. Or should I up the card just for saftey?

Also, I would of thought Crysis be more demanding then Bioshock.... lol another doom 3!
