[QUOTE="ras2009"][QUOTE="Killfox"]Nice pc it would be alot better when you get your 4870 ;)Guys I finally ordered my 4870. Comes with a fancy aftermarket cooler as well. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131117
What yah think??? Should finally be able to play Clear Skies at good FPS. I bought it today and its a pretty hardware hungry game. From what I have played its awesome though. And thats my ramble.
Killfox
Yeah I cant wait especially since I just got clear skies and from what I have played so far its really good. I think its one of those games you either hate it or love it. Im probably going to first do the fan speed fix and then overclock it to get the most out of it and then I will probably finally OC my CPU as well.
Cool i was thinkin of OC my CPU dunno yet =/[QUOTE="GTR2addict"][QUOTE="JSDempsey"][QUOTE="RFOMownage"]In sig.JSDempsey
GPU??
9800 GTX+ O_o how could u miss that??
Honestly its not showing up for me in IE8.
EDIT: i looked at it in chrome and saw it, the bottom line doesnt show up in IE8.
chome....sigh. they need to work out some of the bugs before i use it. im gonna try DL'ing it again after the release version comes out

Do some better wire management and I'll give you an 8/10, good budget rig.

I've actually tidied it up a bit by putting many of the power supply cables behind the motherboard tray. I also installed a 120mm fan in front of the hard drives.
ASUS P5Q Pro Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 OC to 3.6Ghz (3.0 Ghz originally) 6mb Cache
4096Mb Mushkin DDR2 1066 MHz RAM
ATI Radeon HD HIS 4870 512Mb GDDR5
Enenmax PSU 550W
Logitech G5 Laser Mouse
Logitech G15 Keyboard
Windows XP Professional 32-bits SP3
Snmsung 22" 3000:1 2ms LCD monitor
28" monitor FTW! My 22" is above it.
Also,

Very impressive build, minus the wires scattered around, but really nice. Graphic card is decent, 3TB is overkill, unless you're doing video editing (in that case, no hard drive is too big). The mobo is starting to show its age, same with the CPU, but it's a decent one. 7.5/10

I wish I got a bigger case now. This was a **** to wire. I can't get the wires cleaner without cutting more holes in the case :(
Also, I only have 1.3TB of storage, 2x500GB, 1x320GB, and 1x160GB hdds. I'm running out of space though. Movies, pictures, music, games, etc. And I'm hoping to upgrade to nehalem next month, or if not, hopefully christmas. Looking forward to the upgrade.
going to build this:

You need a better mobo. Your current mobo isn't gonna support your memory card. 8.5/10, and you don't really need a sound card nowadays, the onboard ones works just as well. Apart from the mobo, it looks very promising. Another recommendation is that you switch the 4870x2, much better deal unless you really don't like ATI for one reason or another.
Heres an update:

Looks amazing. I have a few questions about that cooler, as I am thinking of getting it. First, does the push pin attachment method seem adequate for the cooler, considering its weight? Secondly, how much clearance is there between the aluminium heatsink and the northbridge heatsink. I ask this because the last cooler I tried to install would hit my northbridge heatsink, preventing installation. My freezer pro 7 is practically touching it now, and it is a smaller than usual tower cooler.
Thanks, this is actually on a amd system so its just cliped on (am2 mounting method). It is rather light compared to my old tuniq tower, so my guess would be that the push pin would work fine. And putting it on an intel system, most ppl turn it 90 degrees so it wouldent even hit the northbridge, in my situation its just alittle taller so it goes right over.beefdog
I wish I could turn it vertically but I don't have a fan at the top of my case so the hot air would be trapped. I'm really hesitant about buying a cooler now because going through the RMA process if it doesn't fit is so annoying and I lose money.

The Tuniq tower should be tall enough to clear just about any heatsink.

Yeah I was thinking about getting that, but I heard it weighs over 1kg with the fan attached and I don't think it comes with a 4 pin fan connector. Would the weight of the cooler be harmful to the motherboard?

Its never hurt any of my mobos. The fan connector is a 3 pin but most boards can accomidate both 3 and 4 pin fans.

really? I checked the mobo's specs, it said it supports DDR3-800/833/1000/1067/1111/1333MHz @ 1333MHz CPU FSB.
wouldnt that work with my ram?

Why do people waste time and money with folding at home? It's not like your tiny little contribution is doing any good.

Your opinion. Some people don't want their computers to sit idle and just use them for selfish reasons. Why fight in a war? You're just one single soldier anyway.[QUOTE="X360PS3AMD05"]Eh...that LCD is 1080p? :? Otherwise it's kind of a waste............also it would be a shame if those 260s weren't folding ;)MadShabz
